So is there any difference between x3 and x4 for 3d tours? I know you edit your shots, but if it goes to Matterport… any technical changes on photo side straight out of the camera? Thank you

From my understanding I don't think Matterport supports the X4 camera yet

Interesting. But I would strongly recommend that users do their own careful tests of the sharpness settings, or watch the tests done by a guy under the name of 180by2. When the X4 was first released I could not understand why there was little extra detail in side by side comparisons with the X3. In fact I would often have guessed them the wrong way round. Eventually it became clear that it was down to the sharpness setting, which in the X4's AI driven processing messes with detail as well as sharpness. And you can't recover lost detail later. Another tester showed how a brick wall in the middle distance was just a blur with low sharpness but in medium, the bricks were perfectly clear. I know that pros tend to use low sharpness in all cameras but I would question using that setting on this particular camera. For me it loses the whole point of the 8k capture. Also the related settings of codec and bit rate make unexpected picture quality differences. All worth checking and testing.

Well Peter I appreciate your input and I do suggest everyone do their own testing and set up the camera the way they like it, but every clip I showed in my video was done with low sharpening. You may have your own personal feelings about the sharpness, but as someone who did all the testing in a professional workflow, I can tell you without equivocation if you are using this camera for real estate, you're doing yourself an injustice if you leave the sharpening up. You seem to forget that sharpening ALSO affects the grain in your image, causing it to be more noticeable in low light situations. For real estate video, that matters more than almost anything else. Feel free to keep your sharpening to whatever you want it to be, but after shooting over 20 houses with this camera and the feedback from the agents paying for these videos, I can tell you without a doubt that the lowest sharpening is the way to go if you don't want to deal with denoising your video in post or overly sharpened grain in low light environments. I know this because I personally did the test and got input from the industry professionals using this footage to sell homes. The biggest problem with the majority of reviewers online is that they are simply KZfaq tech reviewers, I am a business owner whose entire job is taking video NOT for KZfaq. I own a real world real estate visuals company that charges clients based on the visual I deliver. There is a huge difference between pointing a camera at a brick wall and pixel peeping vrs using the camera in real world settings where you're charging money to clients. I did watch his video and he is doing a sharpness test in a park showcasing a park swing. No offense but the testing I performed was WAY more rigorous than taking one image of each and comparing them. I have months of in the field testing with this camera with roughly 25 hours use time just on interior video with this camera in particular. Again, use whatever settings you want, but I have 0 doubts that my testings were stronger and more accurate than what you suggested I watch.

@@jeremydeihl Thanks for your comprehensive response. Clearly you have made your own tests in your own situation and come to your own conclusion. But I would still encourage users not to "go for low" automatically but to get a feel for what works best for them in their own situations. I know that although this setting has not had much attention in videos, I can tell from discussions in comments that different settings have been the subject of different views! Which is I guess why they provide the means for people to make their own choices. Fortunately!

I know not everyone is using it for my specific use case and that's why I started my video talking about my test revolving around my professional workflow with the camera and how these are the best I have found for this one particular use case. It's your camera and your video creations so don't be afraid to play around with the settings and use it as works best for you for sure!

The X4 HDR implementation is a serious step back from the other cameras. Lack of RAW, number of shots and +/- EV in the single shot HDR options is very dissapointing.

I have to agree, if you're in it for photos then the ONE RS 1-inch is without a doubt the best option. It surprised me with how good the video is honestly, but I still use the ONE for my 360 photo tours

Very interesting comparison. As owner of the X4 I struggle with the missing RAW export in HDR and the lack of possibility to set the numbers of bracketings though. The last firmware update didn't solve this problem unfortunately.

Nice video thx!! What would be a good camera to get for the following situation? I ride motorcycles, and love the idea of recording my rides for several reasons... The first reason is. If I ever get into an accident, well it's always a great thing to be able to defend the truth on what actually happened and have it recorded. And secondly, it would be great to record while I ride, and talk about the areas , the wonderful scenery here in Europe, Spain... I've seen others do it and their KZfaq channels. It's pretty cool showing where they go, and the vistas are just tops... Is the focus on the rider, then on the side, and then changed to the front view controlled by the rider, or does it change to different angles from time to time? I know, it's probably a dumb question ❓ but ... Would you suggest this type of camera, or another type for what I'd like to do here? Hey, thx again, 😊

so you suggest putting the sharpness to Low mode on the X4 for the best video ? how about the 1 RS sharpness mode ?

For sure, 100% I always put all of these cameras to their lowest sharpening and then I can add more later if needed, but I rarely do. With this camera in particular it seems to make a big difference in removing a BUNCH of that small sensors "digital" look

I'm not sure as of this date, but as of recording that video matterport had yet to upgrade and allow the X4. It might be now, but I typically deliver on Kuula so I have not checked recently

You're not wrong. The A/C went out in my studio and had to record this in the office while that's getting fixed. I guess I could have used the wireless Lavs, but you roll with the punches sometimes
