The way you felt about The Fixer Upper is the way I felt about Book Lovers by Emily Henry. There were romantic elements to the plot, but it was really about Nora overcoming her trauma, fixing her relationships, and building her life around what she wanted and not what she felt others needed. I wish that would have been marketed as General Fiction instead of Romance because you go in with certain expectations and you can't really give a book a good rating when it's just not what you signed up for (especially being a mood reader, I pick my books because I'm in the mood for a Fluffy Romance or whatever).

I completely understand taking a long time to read a "short" book. I'm currently 33% done with The Hobbit and I'm struggling to finish it. The first two times I read it, I really loved it. I still do, but it's the end of the semester, and I'm so burned out. Hopefully, this coming week, I can finish it.

I love your videos. If you're looking for a wonderful (contemporary) fantasy book, check out Phil Mazza's The Harrow Saga. It's published by a small publisher and is a coming of age fantasy with some powerful female characters. The language is wonderful. Warning: there's a lot going on, and the pace picks up as you read through the series. Some great plot twists, of course, and it's interesting how the author's writing style changes to reflect the maturity of the female protagonist. If you're tired of Gaiman, Martin, and Sanderson, you should check it out. Highly underrated!
