I have watched every video on your channel, and loved every video. Your patience and attention to detail is amazing. I did not comment on all the videos, but they all got a big like. Hope to see more in the future.

I put one of these on my delta lunchbox planer -- it was like a whole new machine! Sure, it cost 2/3 the price of the planer itself, but the difference was WELL worth that price. Before installing, it was difficult to get a good smooth surface with little ripple. and it was constantly blowing the breaker, even when on it's own circuit. Took me a couple careful hours to install it (was taking my time; more than a little nerve wracking!!! ) but once installed, it was a whole new machine. I could take a MUCH heavier pass and it barely even slowed. and the final finish was just stellar.. if you haven't gotten one of these yet for your machine, GET ONE.. you will not regret it!!

Knives and cases, the process and finish are certainly different. When I watched it while thinking about its meaning, I felt like I was sharing time with the creator. Have a nice day. /new🔔""

great choice. I installed a Byrd Shelix head on my Dewalt 735 planer and it made a big difference in noise and finish quality as well as blade longevity.

I have a similar 8" Grizzly jointer and was very interested to see your take on the Shelix cutter head.

if you replace it will be a great time to tune up your jointer reset plane(both in feed and out feed re square your fence took me a few hours but well worth the time .

@@dougshaw9701 it certainly looks like you'd need to reset the outfeed (but only once as opposed to resetting the knives every time they need sharpening) The 90° fence stop is a janky pivoting piece of iron bar. I need to check with a small machinists square every time I loosen it, unfortunately... This tool has been great value for the $. I rarely wish I had gotten a bigger one. Yes, it is always worthwhile to do proper maintenance and tuning in the shop. 👍

@@jimurrata6785 I bought a machinist straightedge to reset both my infeed and outfeed to where they were as close to parallel as i could very minor adjustments and yes the outfeed is important that it is parallel to cutter head but if you really want to check get the straight edge.(about 90 bucks for one)found i needed to shim one side of my outfeed to get to even with my infeed(same plane) Since i had to disassemble my jointer it was worth the effort.

I am very happy that you can use these pads. BUT... I'm sure they will be less efficient than your own planes that make me dream for so many years 😉 greetings from France

The precision is much more accurate with a hand tool, but when you do a lot of work, you need the help of a machine. Thanks~

I added a Shelix to the same model a year ago. Only issue I seem to have now is getting the beds to be fully co-planner. Did you have to shim the head at all (or the beds)?

Will you give us feedback on why you did this and the comparison how better the finish is now versus past blades? I'm thinking of doing the same to a planer.
