The only problem I saw with the video is the installer was turning the fitting onto the nut. CSST installation procedures state to turn the nut, not the fitting. Good video otherwise, thank you!

If you're anywhere near Toledo, OH I could use a plumber for a few things at my house... mainly to install a new gas line for my stove!

suggestion...…..never turn the top sealing nut...it scrapes the seal and its compromised...the bottom flange is turned but not the top nut because it contains the sealing washer and very important that it doesn't leak...

I have to plumb a new gas line for a dryer and planned on using CSST. I found this video as a tutorial. Can you clarify your above statement. Aren't the same surfaces contacting each other regardless which is stationary and which is being turned? Please advise!

@@ghostz61987 what happens is the nut on the bottom shoves the csst tubing into the washer....the tubing doesn't spin...so when you hold the washer nut at the top still it doesn't turn they collide straight into each other so the defects of the tubing smash into the washer mirroring it's image...the clip on the lower nut is what keeps the tubing from backing away as you tighten it...so if you let the top but start turning it will not give a good seal and compromises it.Having a good clean cut and holding the top but very still are key...I recommend buying the tubing cutter made specifically for csst because it has extra rollers to keep you from crushing the tubing and they are very sharp👍

Need to follow the mfg instructions regarding which parts are to be tightened and how much. Following this may risk damage to the seal.

Thanks for the video but like Mark Cuellar said, "turn the nut, not the fitting." CSST beats black pipe by a mile, once you get the feel for cutting it.

@@Al-ix5um Good question. The video is an excellent example of making a mistake and that mistake gets hilighted so others don't make the same mistake. Mistakes are apart of the learning process and one person's mistake can help others skip that same mistake. The mistake is hilighted through comments, a notation in the video and a companion video explaining the mistake. I like to share my experiences even the mistakes.

I was shocked to see you turn the male fitting instead of turning the flange - which is the nut side if the fitting. Homeflex instructions (and everyone else) is clear that the compression (washer) will be compromised if you turn the male nipple end instead of the female nut side.

I don't think. When installing these always have the directions in front of you for every fitting. Will have to look at homeflex directions.
