This module is an absolute blessing! If you have a CD-P1 unit (i.e. early 2004 single-CD V50 with external amp) it will have the motherboard on the side wall, and the installation needs a few adjustments: - To open it up, you only need to remove two screws from the top (the side with the information sticker, not the side with the mounting bracket), and go around the edge with a spudger or (carefully) a screw driver to undo the clamps. No need to unscrew anything on the back side! - Once the lid is removed, the motherboard should be fully exposed on the side wall. If the motherboard is not clearly visible, these notes probably do not apply to your CD player. - Carefully disconnect the brown/orange flat cable from the top edge of the motherboard. There are probably no locks on this connector, the cable should just slide out, but double check just in case. - You do not necessarily HAVE to remove the disc reader (the big metal box that the brown cable wraps around), but it is easy enough, and gives better access for the next steps. Remove the two screws from the bracket that holds the disc reader to the floor of the unit. In the top of the disc reader at the front corners, there are two big holes revealing two more recessed screws. Remove these also, ideally with a magnetic screw driver so the screws don't disappear into a void and damage the reader. You should now be able to remove the reader, making sure not to bump into the motherboard, and that the flat cable does not get snagged. - Here you run into an issue: the kit includes two 10cm flat cables that are meant to connect to a motherboard at the bottom, but the motherboard is on the side, so the flat cables have to make a bend that they are not really long enough for. - OPTION A: Not recommended, you can probably bend and fold the flat cables until everything fits, force the lid on, and hope it works. The flat cables are fragile, and even if it works initially, they may break down the line. - OPTION B: Buy one or two longer flexible flat cables, 20cm should do, 18-pin FFC with 1mm pitch (if I'm not mistaken). Type A or B will both work if installed correctly, type A is what is included. Disconnect the original brown flat cable from the disc reader and replace it with a new flat cable. You can the rip the old cable off the disc reader if you really want to, but I would just tuck it out of the way so it can be restored if necessary. - OPTION C: This is what I did, reuse and reroute the original brown flex cable; you can always fall back to option B. Very carefully peel the brown flex cable from the disc reader, starting at the side you disconnected from the motherboard. Peel off the side all the way to the first corner, then peel about half of the cable on the back. Keep the rest attached, and connected to the disc reader. - There are probably two orange 'tabs' on the disconnected end of the flat cable, these interfere with the connector used on the JustTech module. Carefully cut them off so the sides are straight and flush, making very sure not to damage or expose any of the pins. - Connect the brown flat cable to the 'CD' connector on the JustTech module as shown in the video, making sure to undo and redo the locks on the connector. - If you removed the disc reader, reseat it to get a good impression of where everything should go. - Connect a new white ribbon cable to the JustTech module as instructed. - The connection to the motherboard poses yet another issue: because the connector is so close to the lid, you may want to fold a 90-degree bend in the white ribbon cable very close to the end, inside of the blue tab, but just a fraction before the exposed pins. You may want to use a ruler or another straight edge to do this neatly. It is not ideal, but likely preferable over the lid pushing down on the cable and the connector. - If you chose to reuse the original brown flex cable, the most optimal position for the module is probably on the side of the disc reader directly opposite the motherboard, where the ribbon cable used to be glued to the disc reader. Rotate and align the module so the two ribbon connectors of the module are facing towards the front of the player, in line with the ribbon connector of the motherboard, and the mic and control connectors are neatly accessible in line with with the back of the disc reader. In this position, the original brown ribbon cable should now fold up 90 degrees at the back of the disc reader, then go over the disc reader in the corner (where the laser warning sticker probably is), and bend 180 degrees into the connector of the module on the side... a picture would be worth a thousand words 😅 - If you bought new longer flat cables, find any flat surface that both cables can reach without any strain or hard folds. You do not need to keep clear of the holes in the case, they do not provide essential airflow, but you do need to avoid the exposed moving components of the disc reader. - Connect the remaining end of the flex cable to the motherboard - Thread the Bluetooth antenna through one of the holes in the back, and connect it to the module - Try it in your car. If it works, stick down the module, tape down the flex table where necessary, screw the disc reader in place, screw the lid back on, and install it in your car :)

Due to the fact that it integrates seamlessly with the OEM Volvo car stereo it provides for an elegance and sound quality that few - if any - other aftermarket car accessory manufacturers has shown effort to compete with. Nor can they compete with the kind of enthusiasm, engineering effort and product development required to bring a product like this to market. To quote ABBA, I say “Thank you for the music”.

It works perfect! But why is the CD player louder that this CD emulator ? When I play music from a CD the sound ist very loud without to turn the volume to the max, when I use the device I have to turn the volume almost tho the maximum, I can’t really understand the loudness difference.

Hi. a very interesting solution. I have a few questions: If there is no Aux channel, will this Bluetooth module function? How will the tape recorder recognize this module and will the CD player work or will this module function instead of the cd player? Justas, it took a while (18 days from Lithuania to The Nederlands) to arrive but this wasn't your fault. After ordering, You sent the module within 48 hours. In less than 60 minutes I took the CD-player out of the dashboard, open de CD-player and install the module and place everything back into the car! Easy peasy! Had some small problems with connecting to my android phone. I didn't know you need to play a CD to make a connection by Bluetooth with your phone. But it works like a charm!! Thank you so very much! Now I can play my own music with the best quality! This module gives you the best and cheapest solution to these Volvo car models! They do not have the possibility for Bluetooth modules or it is very complicated and very expensive..

Can't find anything useful anywhere - I bought a FM transmitter/Bluetooth thingy that should work on an empty FM frequency, but it seems that all the "empty" FM frequencies in DK are only useful for listening to static noise effing your Bluetooth music up and when the shit works it's only for a few minutes, then some radio station interferes....😂 HEEEELP!
