Hey Folks, Just as an update, I found that the Teraflex links began to be noisy, possibly due to lack of greasing on my part, so I replaced the kit completely, buy using the AEV links that came with the 2" lift kit. Cheers.

Hi Cheaper Jeeper, Love your videos. To clarify, you no longer have quick disconnects. Is that correct? You chose to go back to the AEV links. I have the AEV lift as well and was considering the teraflex qd’s, but I would hate the noise.

@@kingspecialized Yes, I put the AEV links on. They are great quality. I can't really recommend the Teraflex links because, you'd need to regularly maintain them by greasing them up. I'm not really going off road much that would require a quick disconnect anyways.

Genius! Your video helped SO much to visualize how these installs work. I'm going to try disconnecting my stock links first and take it for a drive, so to have a better idea of how much difference it will make. If good, I'll try the clevis pin hardware option you showed in your Tip list. There are lots of times that I'm camping where I'd leave the sway bar disconnected for the whole trip, since it's all off-roading we're doing. Thanks for helping, safe Jeepin'!

I really like this design as it doesn't require grinding off the one flange on the passenger side that other kits require you to do. I see the sway bar arms are now much higher than with the stock links because the mounts on the brackets are higher. Any change in on-road handling because of this?
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott. No change with the handling at all. I agree with the concern about cutting off the flange, as you stated. However, the Nylon(?) bushings in these sway bar links wore out and started to make a knocking noise, and I have since removed them. Perhaps greasing more regularly would have helped them? I don't know. I hope my answer helped. Cheers.
@scottsnyder8691
@scottsnyder8691 2 жыл бұрын
@@CheaperJeeperTV Yes that does help. And I only now realize you have a 2" lift which I don't have which would make it even higher. Sorry to hear about the bushings, that seems like something Teraflex should warranty, that doesn't seem right after less than a year (or so). What kit did you end up going with? Just back to the AEV without quick disconnect? I might just try the DIY with the clevis pins to see how that works.
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, Yes, I ended up using the links that came with the AEV lift kit. They seemed of good quality. Incidentally, any off-roading I've done since, which were moderate trails, I just didn't bother disconnecting them. The clevis pin is something I'd consider as well. Good luck in whichever direction you chose. Cheers.

I bought this one first also but found that the sway bar is very high. I thought it should be closer to parallel or just a little on the up side. What are your thoughts on this?
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Randy, I looked at that when I researched before installing the sway bar links. Some comments in KZfaq videos say it is ok at that angle. I imagine that if it was a real issue, I would hope to have come across many comments to that effect. Seeing that there were few to none negative comments I also assumed it would still work fine. Should I learn different I’ll post a comment later on this video. Thanks for watching.

You are supposed to keep the factory sway bar angle -- the sway bar should be a few degrees higher than horizontal -- the way it's pictured in this video is entirely incorrect and will negatively affect ride quality on road. I use JKS adjustable sway bar disconnects - (or any adjustable set will work!) The benefit of which is that you have the best of both - on road and off road performance.

I dont like the angle of the passenger side bar. It put excessive stress on the lower joint and blew it out prematurely. I dont see that problem on the JKS ones. Have you had a similar experience?

So I’ve been considering this kit but also have reservations. What’s your honest opinion considering my concern? So I know it’s rates from 0-4.5 lifts. However many of us with no to minimal lift have made concerns about the sway bar arms being way too high when connected due to the links being too long. Those with higher lifts than 2.5 already don’t have many issues with this (possibly yourself). I’ve heard when the sway bar is high and not close to parallel, it can cause ride discomfort amoung other things. I’ve heard of people with the Mopar 2” lift even complain about the length of the links. I only have a 1.5 front leveling kit so I’m sure I’d come across that issue as well. I plan to get the Mopar lift eventually but as stated I still may have the issue even with that amount since it’s a minimal lift. So I’m kind of stuck. I like the idea of quick disconnecting but don’t want other issues. I have a JT Overland and love the ride quality. Don’t want to compromise anything. Besides, reading through the comments it appears you have now possibly got rid of the links. If so were/are you able to use the link that come with the lift kit, to use on the brackets for the Teraflex kit? Or will the teraflex brackets and pins only work with the links teraflex provides?
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV Жыл бұрын
Hey Sarge, I got rid of the TeraFlex links. The bushings started making noise. Perhaps they needed to be greased sooner than I realized. I just now use the links from the AEV lift kit, and all is well. They also do not need to be greased like the TreFlex ones did. I hope this helped. Cheers.

@@CheaperJeeperTV thanks for the reply. One last question. Are you using your AEV links with the rest of the Teraflex disconnect kit (brackets, pins) ? Or did you just get rid of the whole Teraflex kit. Basically I’m trying to determine if other links that possibly come with normal lift kits can work and fit on the brackets and pins. It only seems that people are some kind of having issues with the links. However I like the idea of the rest of the kit.

Horrible product. I had it on my jeep for almost a year, very easy to disconnect very very frustrated to connect. Jeep have to be completely level to contact back, if not fully level you have to put rock, wood etc under the tire to get the link to go in back to the bracket. Waste of time. specially after wheeling . Just install antirock sway bar. Worth any penny.
