The stock skid plate on the KTM 790 Adventure and Adventure R has great coverage but is made with thin metal that was never really meant to take a hard hit. Especially when bottoming out on large rocks, or crossing logs, the stock skid plate leaves your KTM 790's motor vulnerable. This reinforcement kit from Touratech adds a secondary layer of 3mm thick stainless steel, rubber dampers, and stronger mounts that protect the bottom side of your engine from damage, without having to purchase another skid plate.

Not mentioned in this video; BEFORE INSTALLING THE TOURATECH REINFORCEMENT KIT, REMOVE THE STOCK CENTER BRACKET (3 nuts and bolts), and REMOVE THE STOCK FASTENERS CONNECTING THE GAS TANK GUARDS TO THE STOCK SKID PLATE (2 bolts, 2 nuts) as shown in the printed Touratech instructions, drawing 4. Saves taking the Touratech reinforcement plate off and putting it back on again..

I found that the REINFORCEMENT KIT warps the stock 790 skid plate so that the skid plate holes no longer line up. Solution (for me, anyway) is to install the rear 2 bolts through the skid plate, then with a knee under the skid plate, press up until the bolt holes align.

A quick comment here as I couldn't find anywhere else to make one; hopefully someone from Touratech reads this stuff. I get the heavy dose of KTM and BMW but where's Ducati? Touratech is the official supplier of crash bars and panniers for the Multistradas but there's nothing new about Touratech products, installation, anything specific to the Ducati bikes. Never a mention. Why? 100,000 bikes sold not enough to generate interest in supporting this model range from Touratech?
