I’m playing with setup in a basically stock Deadbolt. I have upgraded to Emax servo (stock unit died first week crawling shoes, and slippers the first week), also went with a 2 speed over driven trans, and a “Maker Fire 50 turn high torque motor, and brass hex’s (mostly for durability) . Still running 2s batt, stock links, tires. I got the 43mm Injora shocks with the adjustable collar and have the springs wrapped above the adjuster to give me about 1/8th inch up travel. Had to limit front droop with rubber band to prevent driveshaft separating on droop while handling it. Have not had an issue yet while driving, but it also helps plant it on climbs. I intend to modify stock stuff as much as possible before resorting to after market to keep it cheap. I have seen binding between the drive shaft and the upper wishbone with this setup (looking for recommendations on a dremmel type tool to clearance that.) recently found a deal on the micro comodo, going to Furitek Lizard pro with the front overdriven trans, and S3 battery. Future considerations are brass knuckles, and upgraded wheels / tires (injora steels / rc4wd good years in vented with BB’s for weight. Pretty sure I will then need to upgrade axle shafts

listen, ive found that the double barrels work great in the rear with a more stock travel length in the front maybe a little longer. I also run an inner spring thats .2x 2.5x 15mm, id like them to be .25mm thick but its hard to find .3mm i found to be a little much. I run that in the rear to control the offloading, but it still allows the geometry to pull it down when needed. ive recently also added rubber bands to the fronts since there isnt enough stroke from stock length to make the inner spring work, even cut down. Seems to be the best set up, i just wish the front had a slightly longer stroke to it, im thinking the long travel ones, NOT the DB, with the inner spring would be ideal.

the baja pro x tires are also badass, i really like them and the way they look, they perform outstandingly in loose dirt and mud, but youll find that on rock they like to hop around on those large lugs a little and youll lose a certain amount of traction on rocks. The mud performance however is baffling, they might fill up a little but they just keep pulling, as long as you have some wheel speed. wrangler MT/r's vented have been my go to, but that 58mm injora crawler master MT is gonna be my next try.

How do you keep the driveline from separating due to droop?

it makes the movement smoother! If you watch cape crawlers videos he talks about the 43mm shocks binding up

The inner barrel can bind on compression in the normal configuration. If you flip them gravity assists in letting everything “go to your home”.
