Turns out I had a bad fuel intake line this whole time! It was causing my engine to run rough and not get enough fuel. I had to install a new floor hatch on my boat to access the fuel ports and now my engine runs great!

I have exact same boat as you. 2004 keylargo 230 WI. Not as done up as yours obv. I also have been having fuel issues causing my engine to stall out. I thought it was bad vent line for the gas tank. I have the old style vent like you had before that vents threw the gas cap. Now I’m starting to think it’s bad fuel pick up just like yours. Def gona do a hatch cause that little plate sucks. It’s only right above the fuel sender and barely big enough for even that. Every time you do something I wanna be right there with you doing it to mine. But not as much cash flow. But you earned it so not hating. Where the hatch Amazon? I found our hatch’s for the rest boat on Amazon the 4 up front and the bilge. You had yours all redone when got most your work done when got the evinrude. Nice job. I know your selling but it’s a pretty sweet boat for what it is. Esp yours. How hard/expensive was the new fuel pick up?

Luv your videos👍. Best to seal any exposed wood with epoxy or glass as wood soaks up moisture like a sponge. 4200 better for items that may need removal at some point. Fish on!

I am a big believer in putting in a hatch or access to any place I need to get to that the factory made hard to get to.

It really should be standard practice on boats or else after 10 years the whole boats gotta be cut apart to replace anything

5200 is amazing stuff...I've literally used it to fill holes up to 1 inch in diameter on the quick (from moving transducers around on my transom) and the stuff is bullet-proof as well as waterproof once it cures up. Nice job on the hatch...glad you figured out your fuel intake issues! The hatch is 100% on there permanently now (don't ever try to remove it with the 5200 on there!).

Those things come in handy for all kinds of things, I watched a few guys use them on Jon boats for DIY live wells or just dry storage. Glad to see you not giving up on improving your boat and just getting a new one. God bless have a great day.

Gotta get the big canisters of 5200 you can put in a caulk gun. It’s about the same price for a lot more

I've been having issues the same to yours. I have the same circle hatch, and having the same issues. I'm going to do the same thing. I've replaced all the lines, cleaned the tank, replaced a 2in hose between the cowling and hose that goes into the motor? I've done everything but the intake lines! Going to do this next. Thanks Hieko! Hope your other issues are better from your latest video. Geez!..

I agree with the other guy, you should have used fiberglass or polyester resin on the wood to totally seal it. After using the 5200 it's too late now so I would seal it up as much as I could with some more. Also I was wondering why you didn't put the hinge towards the bow like most of the hatches in the floor of a boat? Regardless that looks pretty good. 😁👌

I think I would shop around for a hatch that is more recessed if I were doing it. Nothing wrong with this one , but I guarantee my clumsy ass would catch the edge and trip while fighting a fish. Glad you got the fuel issue cleared up Heiko!

That last screw that you put in and forgot to drill needs to be pulled out and sealed or your deck will rot out. 5200 is not as permanent as everyone makes it out to be, can easily be removed using debond.

never use 5200 on hatches. now you will have to cut the hatch to get it to come off. use 4200 it is a seal instead of a bonding agent

Hate to be that guy but that hatch is very close to the other. Thinking maybe you should have started that hatch line even with the hole already there to give you a few more inches of support between the other hatch. Someone jumps on the boat in between the two and that little strip will probably crack. Best of luck looks good.

4200 is better. 5200 is permanent bond making future repairs a nightmare 😢😢😢😢😢5200 is a polyurethane which is permanent bond. Read it on the label, so let’s say you later decide to replace the hatch because you or your guests keep tripping on it (that hatch is not flush to your deck) or you break a piece off of it that for some reason is not replaceable, taking the hatch out will involve you chiseling it out therefore damaging your deck. West Marine sells a debond for softening 5200 but it’s still a chore. That’s why there’s 4200 which is a mix of polyurethane and silicone for removal if necessary. Besides all you want is to create a waterproof seal around the hatch. And you are mechanically fastening down with screws, so it’s not going anywhere. 3m 4200 fast cure is the way go. (Fast cure means 24hr dry time.)
