Shouldn’t the radiator be slightly out of level (high side at the vent) so trapped air can get out?

@@Londontradecollege can you be a little more specific? In the Netherlands that’s the way the radiators are being installed. Not much, but just a little bit.

See this video from 5m36. Sorry it is in Dutch, but I think you will understand. He is talking about 2mm difference. It’s not necessary, but it helps to release air from the radiator, according to this installer. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nb9xeMqlxLbOcqs.html
