Those cyclone prefilters are used on dozers and loaders. Proven performance. I did notice the amount of dirt in the engine. A battery leak blower would help keep it clean. Clean it at home or on the trail.

Do snorkels, with or without the Syclone cause wind noise?

I didn’t notice any additional wind noise with either the stock snorkel head or the syclone. I’ve seen one person complain about the syclone having some additional noise but mine is completely silent so 🤷🏻‍♂️

i used to run k&n but went back to oem it lets to much dust into the motor k&n are only good for the track not playing out in the dirt

I switched back to oem filters shortly after adding the prefilter. My filters never really get dirty anymore lol.

So it seems to not let water in while driving if it's raining, but do you know if while parked and under a heavy downpour the water may come in through the ejection slot? Just wondering, since the inner turbine fan would not be spinning...

I don’t believe so just because the ejection slit isn’t really all that big, the place where it actually sucks in air is at the bottom of the mushroom top

@@henrym1854 completely worth with oem snorkel I still had to swap filters monthly and now I only check it every once in a while

It comes pre oiled, I have cleaned it and re oiled it since then.

After 6 months. Do you have any hindsight on your purchase? I'm currently looking into going this route with my 4runner and was wondering if you had any pros / cons you discovered.

Oh man, so adding a snorkel by itself to the rig didn’t really help as much with dust and dirt accumulation as I thought it would. I was still patting my air filters out at least once per month. Ever since I got the pre filter I’ve only had to clean my filter once. Big difference. I also don’t have to worry about water getting into the snorkel head like I used to. Now I just power wash my truck or take it into the touchless wash with out worrying about having to turn my snorkel head around. Haven’t really found any cons so far.

@@RoamWithJon Thank you for the quick response! In your opinion / experience, would having a pre-filter with a supercharged engine be an issue. I'm seeing both a need for extra power and a clean / water free source of air. Any thoughts?

No worries! I don’t think a pre filter would cause any issues. The amount of air sucked in I would assume is the same since the original inlet is the same. However, I’d check with someone with experience and know how though if you’re having some thoughts or doubts, I’m just a home mechanic lol.

Negative, just put it on and go. You just need to change your air filter out.

Heavy dust will be removed but fine flour dust will be challenging your filter.

@@RoamWithJon filter has been clean because K&N won't stop any of the dust. I'd say big mistake changing from OEM to K&N

@@stefanplayngo5430 I actually went back to the using an oem filter almost 15k miles ago. The prefilter does its job at keeping a lot of the trail dust and nastiness off of the filter. I used to have change my filters almost after every other trip or pat them down at minimum. I’ve gone back to changing them every oil change and even at that it they aren’t that dirty. I just like to keep on top of things.
