If the camber was out, why wouldn't you lengthen the arm to begin with to bring it closer to spec?

I need to replace upper control arm on left rear side before professional wheel alignment can be done. Btw, this is the best video I have found for novice type like myself. Thanks for the great job! My 2015 Focus SE measures 14" from mid-axle to fender on all tires before starting any work. Putting extra jack under spring and raising up, I can never get close to the 14". Around 16.5", I start to raise the car off the jack stands which were placed where yours were placed. I tested the right rear side but got the same result. I'm not sure how to proceed since I will undoubtedly have problems with trying to get the control arm off and putting new one on.

can the upper arm effect suspension travel? i hit a curb with my focus.. rear pass bottoms out. i replaced full shocks/struts, springs, lower control arms. car bottoms out worse on rear passenger.
@s33therfan3 жыл бұрын
The shocks and springs should prevent the bottoming out , so if it is still doing it then I am not sure . Possibly something may be damaged. Sorry i cant be of more help. Thanks for watching.

You didn’t need the extra jack, you should’ve just lowered the car on to the lifts you had in place and used that jack to lift up the arm.

Brilliant video with clear instructions, I have a 2011 Volvo C70 which has the same rear suspension set-up, as Volvo were owned by Ford when this C70 was designed, would I be right to think this replacement part would fit my Volvo too ?
@s33therfan11 ай бұрын
I would think so , I am not a 100 percent . I did not know the suspension was similar. Thank you for the feedback.

I have the same car and was wondering if i could buy the fixed control arms that are not adjustable
@s33therfan4 жыл бұрын
I believe so and if the rear tires are not showing uneven wear then the alignment is probably spot on. Thanks for watching.

So if I wanted to get negative 2 ° camber how can I measure that on the arm??
@s33therfan4 жыл бұрын
To do it yourself you would need to get level first with a camber level with the weight down on the wheel. From there would just be a matter threading it in a thread at a time until you get your desired camber. Other than putting paint marks on the threads or using a tape measure I would see no other way. Thanks for watching.

i cannot get the adjustable arm loose so i can size it. im turning the reverse direction also! its just rock tight. theyre Moog brand... any suggestions?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
You may try using a big pipe wrench. Or take it to an alignment shop and let them adjust it. It will have to be aligned to get it back to specs . Hope this helps , thanks for watching.

The new shock is hitting the new suspension bolt? Shock will wear out.

Hi there, now that it's been two years for the installation, are these still good? I never used a TRQ brand before. That's why I'm asking. Thanks in advance.
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
Yes they work excellent , trq is one of my favorite brands . I think they are the closest to oem. Thanks for the feedback.

@@s33therfan did they help with your tire wear?

I lowered my car 1.5” and my rear tires are now baby butt smooth all the way across, would these fix that problem with an alignment as well
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
It is possible these could help with any alignment issues. I would recommend having the alignment checked. Most of the time shops do not charge a lot to check this and will even waive the fee , if returned for the alignmemt service. Another note is they may also recommend any parts that need replaced. Thanks for watching.
@StopWars4202 жыл бұрын
If your car is lowered alignment shops won't even touch it. My focus st was on stock suspension and Midas still said it was too low for them to work on because it was "aftermarket" even though it wasn't. You need to buy adjustable camber and toe arms for lowered suspension. Also some camber/toe plates to do the alignment yourself.
@Attohertz Жыл бұрын
Is there any possibility that the suspension could rotate that adjustment end and "overtighten" the threaded "rod"?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
It could tighten , but not overtighten. Those control arms are pretty sturdy. These adjustable arms are really nice with alignmemts , and if there has been any damage they are a must. Thanks for the feedback.
@Attohertz Жыл бұрын
@@s33therfan yes thanks so much for demonstrating this part, I noticed it rotated the adjuster when I put the suspension back on the ground (before I get alignment done) and was concerned

that spray lube might be a huge difference for u, but not for us in the rust belt lol

Should the connecting arm bolt be loosened first before the camber is adjusted?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
Yes , and its way easier to adjust when lifted. However it is trial and error , because you can't get an accurate guage of the camber without the weight of the vehicle on it. I usually just measure them and get it close to the original and drive it straight to the alignment shop. Thank you for the feedback.
@Attohertz Жыл бұрын
Should both bolts on the arm be loosened? I'm hoping I don't have to get an attitude from the tech when I insist that they do this
