The High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) is a high-fidelity Scriptable Render Pipeline built by Unity to target modern (Compute Shader compatible) platforms.
In this series of video, we're going to take a look at HDRP, and see how we can implement assets, upgrade materials, what features we can use, and more.
The HDRP utilizes Physically-Based Lighting techniques, linear lighting, HDR lighting and a configurable hybrid Tile/Cluster deferred/Forward lighting architecture and gives you the tools you need to create games, technical demos, animations and more to a high graphical standard.

hi , i can use package import megascans and bridge but when import in unity , material color pink and show material shader : hidden/internalerrorshader😢 and texture is black , please help me❤ my unity version 2018.3.9 pro

{Need Help} I don't want to make a game just want to make animations in unity with Cine-machine and the HDRP can I comfortable use the unity beta version ? cause i want new features, And like I said I am not making game so i have very little coding involved. Reason i'm asking this is i want future portability cause the scene i am making is going to be evolutionary. I'm making a 3d world which will keep growing and expanding, this world will be community based meaning people will send me 3d models of their creations and i will add it to my world and maybe in year or 2 i will transform this world into a VR game which will only have basic features like walking around, some interactions and all that.

Congrats by the outcome and by the so clear explanation! Apart from this, I applied the HDRP to my made with Gaia Terrain and I destroyed all with the pink color resulted from destroying the shader, with no possibility of coming back.....When the HDRP will be available to apply in Terrains? Thanks

This happened to me. I fortunately backed up my project before I tried it. I would also like to know when the terrain will be functional with the HDR Pipeline?

@@nekrosarts2906 If you haven't known already, HDRP now has a terrain shader. Just put the new hdrp terrain shader to custom shaders in the terrain settings and you're good.

Two years later and still pink everything in 2020, Upgrade Project Materials doesn't do anything for particles or shaders. Why isn't there a better tool??

i cant find the line lights. Ive downloaded both the lightweight and HD pipeline and im still getting the same regular lighting settings in the inspector. i have gone into graphics and put the lightweight asset into the thing and updated all my materials to lightweight materials.

When I import the package into existing project, there is no HDRP Asset available to assign to the Pipeline settings. Deleted and reimported but it never appears.

you need to create an HD Render Pipeline Asset first. Right click in your assets folder and go to Create, Rendering, HD Pipeline Asset. After that you can assign it in the Pipeline settings

Im not sure if its a new build but under packages, HD Render Pipeline is not included. From Entities to In App Purchasing it skips it.

HDRP is built into Unity Editor now so you don't need to install a separate package anymore

John Vanderbeck Yes I have tried a good amount of the packages as the video showed and even at work my package manager has it, but for some reason it doesn't exist on my home computer.

I was hoping that was it but no luck, all of my other preview options are there except the HD... more frustrating then I can express, not that preview packages are worth this much effort anyway.

@@Ziplock9000 it looks like everything was renamed after the tutorials were made. In 2018.3.6f I found it under the name "Render-Pipielines.High-Definition". Once you install it, it shows up installed as "High Definition RP". Then you have to go to your project view and right-click to Create -> Rendering -> High Definition Render Pipeline Asset, then assign that asset to your Project Settings / Graphics. In the previous 2018.3, it was all in place when you created a new HDRP project, so I don't know why they broke it.

Isn't blue generally considered the "cool" light color while red is the "hot" light color?

Well... er.... Yellow, orange and red are usually called "warm colors", as they are associated with warmth (like fire, glowing iron, etc.). Blue and cyan are seen as cold, as they are associated with coldness (like ice, water, etc..). Of course colors don't have a temperature by definition, calling them "cold" and "warm" just a visual aid. I was merely confused why he's refering red as cool and blue as hot (at 2:51).

It's the physical definition of light color. Those are not artistic terms. Blue color is a higher light temperature than red. Basically blue light has more energy. When you buy a light bulb, its color is expressed in kelvin. Physical lighting in 3d software might be expressed in kelvin this way. Candle = red light Electric arc = blue light

​@@badoli1074 Yes you are right, towards the lower end (lower value) of the kelvin scale it's more red (= warmer like fire) and towards the right (higher value) it's more blue (= colder like ice). The guy in the video said it backwards.

when attempting to set it to the HDRenderPipeline its not appearing in the selection menu, just URP

Have you installed the HDRP package by chance? In the Package Manager, you can see all of the current packages installed within your Unity project. Under All, locate “HD Render Pipeline” (Render-pipelines.high) and install the latest version.

@@unity all installed. It just doesn't appear as an option when I go to change from the URP to it on the project settings. Using Unity 2019.3.6f1 btw

@@minerkey682 Do you happen to be using a Preview version by chance? If so, make sure you have preview packages enables so that it'll show in up the Package Manager.

idk if you've fixed it yet but you can use the terrain. In your terrain folder right click and select create material, then go to hdrp, nature, and select terrain.

It's a pretty glaring thing to not have functioning, even in the preview state. Also, not sure what Cimarron is talking about, there are no such shaders or options in the hdrp.

@@DarkMatterVisible The HDRP comes with the shaders and materials. You need to make an hdrp lit terrain material. The same way you make any other material. Then select your terrain and set it to use custom material and select the lit terrain material you made and use it. It's the same for LWRP. It's in the documentation. It's in the tutorials. It's not hard.
