Austin, nice job communicating clearly and accurately. I watched the video to see if there were any additional ideas related to DYI mount ideas. Although there wasn't what I was looking for I was impressed by how well you communicated the technical aspects of the Live Scope. BTW typically an electrician uses an additional wire when pulling wires not a rope, it's much smaller and easier because of the wire insulation slides easier. Anyway you brought hope back to me regarding the younger generation and the incompetence I see everywhere. Thank you for the video.

I wanted to see how you ran the big wires running from the live scope box to the trolling motor and the graf did you drill big holes in the boat or what cause that cable is a big damn thing ?
@MidwestOutdoorExperience
@MidwestOutdoorExperience 2 жыл бұрын
On my Phoenix I was able to not drill any holes, but I had to put the big cable in first and then squeeze all of my other cables in after. I believe Nathan had to drill out the plastic cover a bit for the connector to fit. It is definitely a big connector. We were both able to fish tape/stick our hands down through the opening enough to grab the cables, if you need to fish tape it’s easiest to start from the hole in the bow and run it into the rod box, then pull everything back to you.

I need some education on the F8ah 250v cable. What are the blue and brown wires for? I have read the install manual and I cannot find a section about that cable. Did you put the and negative on an accessory wire or did you run separate wires to the battery for that? Thanks
@MidwestOutdoorExperience
@MidwestOutdoorExperience 2 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming you’re talking about the power cable to your unit, as I believe the GLS10 power cable only has a positive and negative. The brown and blue wires are NMEA 0183 data output/input. They aren’t used most of the time as NMEA 2K has replaced them because it is more efficient at transferring data. As far as your unit power goes, either run dedicated runs to the battery, or make a large gauge run from the battery to a fuse panel, then individual runs from there. Your goal is to reduce voltage drop as much as possible to the unit.

Ideally yes. 99% of boats from the factory do not have adequate wiring for todays electronics. It depends what size wire they have in there from the factory though. Also having it on a dedicated circuit can help reduce interference, you could try it and see what happens though if they have at least 10 gauge wire in it from the factory.

You have two choices. Either put in a 5 amp (rather be on the lower end) or put a larger fuse in the fuse holder and make your connection to the panel, but have your glass fuse inline still.
