I'd recommend you put the inline fuse within 12 inches of battery. With the in line fuse in the bow you have a long length of wire with no short circuit protection. I hope that makes sense.. I'd put a but splice where you put the fuse and put fuse between battery and switch.

Realizing that you haven't had it in use for very long, but are you satisfied with it mounted on the trolling motor or are you considering a dedicated mount of some type for it? I have an Ultrexx and use Spot Lock a lot, so I am a bit torn. About to pull the trigger on the LVS34, but still unsure how I want to mount it. On the TM for sure to start though since that gets me in the water the quickest. Thanks for the video!!
@Everydayfishing
@Everydayfishing Жыл бұрын
Yeah honestly I haven’t had any complaints with it being on the TM. I’d rather not take up space on the deck with another mount. If I do plan to use spot lock, I’ll take a mental note of where the fish/structure was, and make my casts that way.

I have a 2021 Z18 with a helix 7 on the bow. Just curious if you have a boat cover, if the cover fits over things well or if it’s a little too high with that mount? Just trying to figure out what mount I want to get but I like the looks of that one if it’ll fit under my cover, although I don’t use the cover much
@Everydayfishing

I don't actually have a cover - my boat stays in the garage so I never ordered one. I imagine this mount would stick up too high though. You can always order a cover and take it somewhere to have it altered... I know a lot of people do that for bigger trolling motors.

Well done as commented last week Question I have the Black Box wired 14 gauge to the Blue Seas Fuse Panel as well as the Garmin Echo unit to the Blue Seas Fuse Panel Should I redo the Black Box with 10 gauge and run directly to battery compartment with a Switch as you did? I like the idea of Disconnecting Power of Black Box It looks like you wired to the Starting Battery My Blue Seas Fuse Panel is fed with 10 gauge from switch connected to AGM Battery which is also my starting battery With that being said maybe not a good idea to wire Blk Box thru Blue Seas Panel with no switch at this time. I see on your video there is a Green Light on Black Box Do you have a link for purchasing the switch and duplex 8-10 gauge wire? Thanks again So easy to follow and listen to your great install.
@Everydayfishing
@Everydayfishing Жыл бұрын
I'm glad it was helpful! Honestly it seems like my switch on the black box power was not needed. When I turn my Garmin graph off, the black box goes off. So I think that's all you need if you're concerned about saving battery when not using the LiveScope. As for direct power straight from the battery, as long as you're getting a clear picture when using your LiveScope, I wouldn't worry about by passing the fuse panel. I've heard that some people who have lots of interference in their picture have ran power straight to the battery to help that issue. But I don't think its always the case.

@Everydayfishing
@Everydayfishing 10 ай бұрын
Thank you! Garmin and most people recommend that you run power to your black box directly from the battery to remove the chance of any interference. Theory is the more direct power the better picture you’ll get from the LiveScope. Not sure if it’s 100% based in science but it’s easy enough to do so why not

Quick question, does the cable coming from the black box to the screen also power it? Or does the screen require its own power cable as well plugged in? So if its only dedicated for livescope the screen will have one or 2 cords connected to the back?

@@Everydayfishing I want to thank you again for your video. I purchased a LVS32 Transducer and GLS 10 Sonar Sonar Black box from BassPro. The sales deal came with free installation. But after talking to the service department there they said they would need to install wiring and battery shut off switch along with connectors for a extra charge. @Everydayfishing
@Everydayfishing Жыл бұрын
I don't think using different power sources for black box/graph is an issue, but where you might have problems is if you connect either to a trolling motor battery. Usually people get interference on the graph when it's connected to a trolling motor battery, so I would assume that also stands for connecting a black box to it. Rather than get a third battery, could you maybe just get a bigger second battery to power your electronics?

@@backcountrybrian3746 I would guess they used 10ga - which is the minimum Garmin recommends. If you're happy with the performance of the graph and livescope, I wouldn't worry too much about it. No you don't - when I change spots, I use the "sleep" feature on the Garmin graph, and this stops the transducer. I don't think I needed the extra battery disconnect switch that I installed - it does appear that all power is cut off to the black box when the Garmin unit is asleep or off.

Nice install but I’d seriously consider adding another battery. You have way too much off of the cranking battery. If you can I’d isolate your electronics to that battery and keep minimal devices on your cranking battery. I know a few guys that needed a job for this reason. Otherwise great install.

Did you have to run a separate power wire from your chart plotter?
@Everydayfishing

Yes I ran the power for the graph up under my console and connected it to the fuse panel there.

Should use all of the battery post on top of battery. Big post for big wires.

It’s all the same terminal… really doesn’t matter. But if I had large terminal connectors then I suppose I would have just to save space. Honestly just never keep those around.

Is it that hard to catch a fish or we just like new expensive electronics ?

Don’t bash it until you try it… forward facing sonar helps find structure, brush, etc. as well. Doesn’t catch them for you though! 😂

@Everydayfishing 😆 🤣 😂 I never understood nothing going on those graphs so I just used mines for GPS on my boat.

Dang that stinks… does it power on? Does your graph recognize it at all?

Absolutely… it’s incredible. First time out I was able to clearly see different kinds of structure, identify fish, make casts to them and catch fish. I’m super impressed

Fuse should be at the battery.

Unless your battery is within 6 feet of your black box, it’s pretty difficult to have it right next to the battery. Instructions specifically say to leave the fuse provided by the factory

@@Everydayfishing 1 question, 1 thought. Where did you find the switch? Maybe the switch will stop battery charging from back feeding box and plotter. Maybe not. Again where can I find the switch? Thanks nice video.
