This video is for the do-it-yourself bike enthusiast and shows, in detail, how to install hydraulic brakes on your bike. I'm doing this on my favorite Magicycle, but it would be the same procedure on any bike you may have. Listed below is the hydraulic brake kit and the bleed kit that I used in the video.

Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If you're into being off-grid and boondocking or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

Since this video, I've taken the bike along on a trip to Nevada and have been riding it on steep, rocky mountain trails and the brakes are working out great! Smooth and a lot more powerful.

To remove the grips on a motorcycle we used to take a air compressor and insert into a small hole in end of grip and shoot a stream of air into end of grip and the grip comes sliding off very easy to do

Hi Rick. Yup, my eye is Still on the Magicycle. Christmas is coming, I will keep my fingers crossed. 🤞 And thanks to your Spot On Tutorials I will be able to swap out & upgrade the breaks, and add that front cargo rack. Then the super-soft Air Ride for the seat and the wider handle bars too. I'll bet I'm forgetting something but the nice part is, you give us the Best 'walk through' for all these great improvements on an already groovy bike. As Always, You Deliver the Goods. 👊 Thanks Much 👋

That is EXACTLY how I pulled my hydraulic housing sheath through..Great minds think alike, really many electrical lines are pulled in that manner, so anyone with that skill set wouldn't consider any other method, although I have seen some KZfaqrs fight that job with silly methods, but ya don't know, what ya don't know...Ran into the same problem with the length on the front brake, but I seen the same video ahead of time where the guy put the brass compression ferrule on wrong so I didn't make that mistake, that was a couple hydraulic brake installs ago..Not all hydraulic brakes are exactly the same though..But if you order the Tecktro from Magicycle, that certainly applies..Nice tutorial, I've sent a bunch of people to your video about raising the handlebars..Think we are seeing the collapse of civilization pick up it's pace, it's not going to be pretty..I'm about as far off grid and self sufficient as one can practically be, other than the internet,coffee, sugar and a few other things I could manage without...Still time to prepare, but not much....

I hear ya and I keep things around for that purpose. It's also why I live where I do. I also think that electric cars aren't there yet, but the electric bike is doing well.

We are all so indoctrinated in this civilization, we can't envision other ways to live, which is understandable to a degree, it's all we know..But, every part of the civilization is delusional, in reality..The human myth of never ending progress, that makes life better for a portion of the world's population, at the expense of the rest of the world's population, and doesn't critically examine the consequences of this never ending progress, which is it negates any future what-so-ever, and the loss of most complex life on Earth, is a very sick story indeed..Every civilization to ever exist has went through the same exact cycle; a conquest phase---an exploitation phase--and a collapse phase, and they all collapse exactly the same; they destroy their local environment(this time the scale of local environment is Earth itself), they carelessly rifle through their natural resources, they engage in expensive and self defeating wars, they spawn elites and a ruling class that destroys the institutions and infrastructure that make complex societies possible, they bring home the same tyranny, violence and control that the visit on their neighbors, they cannibalize their own countries when they run out of new lands to conquer and pillage, the ruling class falls into a feedback loop of horrible decisions and policies that eventually reaches a tipping point that can't be overcome..Which brings us to where we are today, the collapse phase of civilization..We could have broken this cycle easily because it's thoroughly understood and documented, by merely maturing past greed, ego and violence, but we apathetically refused..Instead we created this game of monopoly that exploits everything to exhaustion...Sorry, have a deadline on an article I'm writing and just organizing my thoughts in this comment, but I'll leave you with some quotes from histories voices that understood this process.."Civilizations are not murdered..They take their own lives"--Arnold Toynbee "Forests proceed civilizations and deserts follow them" ---Francois Rene De Chateaubriand "Civilization is a hopeless race to discover the remedies for the problems it produces"---Jean Jacques Rousseau "All of our EXALTED technological progress, civilization for that matter, is comparable to an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal"__ALBERT EINSTEIN "Those who can make you believe absurdities,can make you commit atrocities"--VOLTAIRE "It's no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society"--Krishnamurti "The end of the human race will be that it eventually died of civilization"---RALPH WALDO EMERSON..Good luck....

My dad told me that when he was a kid, (around 1936) they had a Model T which had mechanical breaks and they had to adjust the brakes constantly and could never depend that they would work. They were headed to the city one day to get new brakes and were pulled over by the police. The cop stopped in front of them and when dad tried to stop, the brakes failed and he ran into the back of the police car. The cop came back and said, "Now where do you think you are going?" Dad replied "To get the brakes fix." The cop laughed and let them go. hahaha

My friend, B. Jumping Eagle's mom, as a girl, got sick and tired of having to go down to the creek with a bucket every day and got down to the creek and beat the hell out of the bucket! She then realized that now it was leaking and worried that she would get in trouble. Grandpa said: "What happened, bucket have a nervous breakdown."

You should never touch the rotors with bare hands and if you do then wipe them down with denatured alcohol. Now for removing handlebar grips just use an air compressor, spray air between the grip and bar and they come off with ease.

My dad showed how to take off handlebar grips the easy way, blow a air through one end of the handlebars, try to get a fit where air will not escape, and the grip will come off, easy peasy, this trick I learned, 60-years ago.

Does it charge by solar? Thanks Rick-could be a solution for my charging needs that is more affordable for me
@gonagain
@gonagain Жыл бұрын
That would depend on your solar panel. Some panels have a small charge controller on the back, like the Itehil panel, or come with a small controller, like the Xtar panel, and with these you can plug into them directly.

Hello Rick and Linda I am sorry I couldn't comment on the last few video's but I had a small stroke in my good eye I only have one you know. the other eye is like just there to confuse other people lol. anyway I couldn't hardly see the video and dang sure could not see the type or keys to leave a reply. @@gonagain Boy's bikes generally had gear & caliper brakes, easily removed. girl's bike generally had the backpedal brakes. We'd leave home on a weekend all clean and injury free then come home in the evening covered in cuts & bruises, used to drive the ol' girl crazy, 😂. Didn't change when we finally got onto the dirt & ag bikes 🤣. Mum was a nurse during the War and she used to say, "back then we had to look after our boys, things haven't changed with you boys..." and just shake her head in disbelief at some of the "wounds" we came home with. Onya mate. 👋👋👋
