Freddy shows you how to install phenolic intake manifold spacers on his Legacy GT with an EJ25. Phenolic Intake manifold spacers reduce heat transfer to the intake manifold, reducing intake temperatures which in theory increase horse power!

Nice job on the video! I'll be tackling TGV deletes, phenolic spacers, and the turbo inlet hose on my '14 WRX in the not-so-distant future. I have been somewhat dreading it due to the amount of effort it takes to removed the accursed intake manifold, but your video has given me a little more confidence!

Installed the Grimspeed spacers on my 02 2.5 N/A a few years ago and stripped one manifold bolt hole and another one would not torque. Removed it and tried again last year with longer manifold bolts (45mm) and used Permatex copper spray on the gasket surfaces facing the spacer. Appears to work OK but manifold air temps still go up with engine sitting, Maybe cools off a little faster. More volume? Appears to have a little more low end torque maybe.

hey thanks for the video, bought the Grimmspeed 8mm spacers about 6 months ago and was wondering how difficult it is to install. Was installing my intake and turboback, I was looking around to see how many things I need to take off and I abandoned the idea due to I was getting a protune the following day and it was getting pretty late. I might just wait till I need to do the turbo inlet and do it all at the same time... then again I might as well do TGV deletes.... damn this crap never ends... you earned yourself a new subscriber!

Those are the TGV tumbler generator valves. I had the same problem, you will have to unbolt the intake manifold, lift it up and see which set of TGVs is stuck. Then either get them unstuck, replace the entire assembly, or delete them and tune them out. I tried to fix them and couldnt, so i deleted them and tuned them out.

I've seen that orange foam stuff happen when someone has put in the wrong anti-freeze. You should never mix different types of coolant. I believe that car take the Subaru Blue coolant and it appears that someone put in the green or possibly topped it off with green after doing some work on it. When ever I have my vehicle serviced I always sure the shop knows my car takes the blue coolant. I also made a warning sticker that says BLUE COOLANT ONLY and applied right by the filler cap.

Do you think they make them for a J series vtec engine? I have an Accord with a automatic and they really don't offer much to mod the engine on it so I have had to be creative in my performance mods and looking for anything bolt on to work it. It's my girl's car so it's staying naturally aspirated but I started porting the upper intake and going to match it by doing the lower so when I am done something like you did would be an convenient install and what power differences will I see if so?

I dont drive 12 years old cars for fun, Im poor as well lol I have the 06 LGT as well and yeah, with the OEM Downpipe and Up pipe remove, selling them can give you around 40$ Can. Each for the catalyc converters.. so 3 in total.. plus I have 3 old batteries..wtv. Basically it helps pay for a portion of the downpipe. I am selling my average/good VF40 turbo for a rebuilt VF52..thats the expensive part.600 Can.. but its good for a long time, AND also Downpipe does help on gas mileage : ) ; )
