Awesome tutorial Adam. Is there a way to link a custom domain to the webapp after setting up with google cloud instance?

Hey Adam, thank you for the video, i have an express node js project in vscode, so i will transfer all its files using FileZilla, after that should i install all dependencies on the cloud ? If i want to modify the code after deploying, should i do it on my desktop and then transfer the modified file by filezilla to the cloud to replace the old one, or there's a way to do some coding on the deployed files

Your first point is correct. Transfer the files to the right directory and then use the command line to install dependencies. If you want to make changes you can make them locally and then re-upload the files to your cloud server. Once you re-upload the files make sure you stop and re-start the app. You could also edit them on the server using the command line and something like Vim. Or using a code editor that edits the files directly on the cloud, I like CodeAnywhere: codeanywhere.com/

@@codeadamca thank you Adam, that would help,,, for .env file and .gitignore, node-modules i also transfered them, should i delete them from the cloud ?, .env has api keys and so

You need the .env and the node modules folder on the cloud server. You don't need the .gitignore.

At 9:16 after restarting nginx, I have still nginx running instead of "Hello world" app :(

I'm not a very skilled server technician, it's something I've learned on a need to know basis. Getting this setup to work the first time took me days. Now that I have the process down, if something isn't working I find it easiest to delete the server and start again. A more skilled server technician might have some better methods of resolving something like this.
