Updated the download for the initramfs to include a separate version for Aeolia PS4's. This version should fix the install issues for those models.

Thanks for the guide! While my PS4 Pro was Beikal and unable to support Linux running off the Internal HDD, the guide was still very informative and everything was explained in a simple and easy to understand manner. While I personally am a Linux enthusiast in the desktop space, the biggest killer of anyone's will to run Linux on a console is the lack of guides or documentation that is current or up-to-date. Even though I the internal HDD method is unavailable, it has still provided me with valuable information on how to get Linux up and running on my PS4 Pro.

One question left: is it faster than through USB3.0? So if you want to have some storage left for other things than Linux, you have to change your HDD for a bigger one, the best would be a SSD, but that also costs more - so what benefit has it, when you have to buy a decent storage device for your internal SATA controller in your PS4 - so, a 1tb SSD costs roughly about 70-120€, a 2tb one costs 110-150€, where is the benefit?

I was to do one version you posted on an external now I was able to install directly to hdd .. but I go to Bluetooth manager it crashes instantly.. on 1st click it.I had to enable. After that when ever I select Bluetooth manager it closes instantly.. I wasn’t able to get Bluetooth to work on the usb either months ago.

After choosing my payload is the screen suppose to go black and into the kernel? After I click my payload it just says payload received and nothing ever happens.

I’ve seen a couple people ask about this and I want to as well since I’m experiencing it too. When trying to sync the controller via bluetooth I receive a popup advising bluetooth needs to be turned on. When I enable it the window closes, and it cannot be opened thereafter. Also, I cannot get wifi set up on the linux desktop; I have to use ethernet. Any insight would be much appreciated.

I tried following the same steps but keep getting a kernel error saying cannot mount fs so not sure if have to do anything else. quick question....when you downloaded your Belize file, how did you know your ps4 didnt take it quite well? would it freeze when using linux? did it give you trouble when using linux? how would we know if our ps4 doesnt really like it and to try an older version? edit - also when youre installing linux initially, does the rescueshell pop up immediately or do i have to wait a few minutes? i tried the 1gb psxarch thing but the last line only said "Run /init as init process"

I have a strange problem where I think the console is in the background pre-install but the screen stays black on every (Belize) kernel I use. Ctrl+alt+del does still reboot the system from this point. I only wonder if there is a way to see the screen. I'm gonna laugh if "installing blind" works. I'll test a few things before I just yeet that plan into action. Update on that: Try multiple monitors on "black screen". Works now

When you stated that only two South bridges can support internal HDD I knew I would have sh*t luck and get the one that is unsupported😭

It mostly works, however whenever I select a vram higher than 1gb the command prompt sends me to a login page. Is there a way to manually log in? After some tinkering I found the login username to be "psxita" and the password is still "changeit" but I can't find any executable commands to save me from this hell. (ps. Whenever it boots, the screen goes black. I have to unplug/plug the hdmi and hit ctrl+alt+f1+f2. Does that cause the problem?)

So I finally found one thing for certain: I cannot install anything. When I tried installing lutris, it seemed to install successfully but the same error for it and anything else I try to download happens. Module Not Found.

Do you think the Baikal southbridge version will ever be supported for installing Linux on internal hdd ? Is it also possible somehow to install on ps4 formatted extended storage with Baikal southbridge ?

I've formatted my hard drive correctly (MBR, FAT32) and gotten all the correct files for my PS4 (Aeolia) and plugged my hard drive into usb0, and I am able to see all the correct files from FTP, but clicking the 1GB exploit does nothing. Nor does any other exploit (2GB-5GB on any method). I cannot for the life of me figure out why.

Is anyone having issues installing pcsx2? When I try sudo pacman -S pcsx2 it says it is not found.

The best choice is using lowest kernel, 1GB VRAM payload and psxitarch v2. Everything runs well

When I tried to load the payload the ps4 crashed. After trying a few more times with different bz images and payloads, now the ps4 doesn’t do anything when I try to load the linux payload.

So how do i get the file for psitiarch gz file cause when i download it and i extract it i get all types of folders so where would the gz file be? Cause u only tell us to download the distro n thats it

Umm when downloading lutris packages finishes it says that all the packages is corrupted (invalid or corrupted packages (PGP signature)).

Nice video. Only problem I'm having is when I boot to the linux payload i get no video output, I checked the ps4 video settings, tried different bzimages (all the ones for belize) and even tried reformatting my external ssd but nothing helped :( my ps4 model is a slim CUH-2216B any suggestions?

I have 2 ps4 first-generation consoles. Both consoles are 6.72 fw. I put the 4 TB hard drive in both consoles. sometimes consoles freeze and turn themselves off. When they boot up again, the system crashes and the system needs to be formatted. May should upgrade the firmware 6.72 to 9.00? if do I upgrade the system then can solve the problem?
