You have the normal building problem, build it and fill it, then need more space. Mike that's a nice building and another good video. Have a good weekend.

You should put steel / concrete protection posts in front of the bay roof posts. And one of them tennis balls on a string for where you park the puppy dog so you don't bump the back wall ( kleiman protection for both)

Captain Kleeman, parked it far enough away from the back wall, to flip the hood up to check fluids before starting the engine.I think that is a safer idea 😎

One thing I've learned, when you start building a shop, whatever size you come up with that you think will do the job, double it. It's amazing what stuff will suddenly appear and take up space.

A great addition to your shed would be a permanently plumbed up pressure washer on the side so all you would have to do is lift the lance and flick a switch would be real handy for keeping equipment clean and before maintenance

Yupp. We had one on the corner of the garage when I was driving truck in Toronto. You could reload your truck at the end of the day and then give it a bath. Helped keep the truck police (MTO) from giving you an up close inspection if you kept your truck cleaner.

Looking much better. Once the remaining 'odds and sods' are rounded up and organised, perhaps give the whole yard a freshener by running a heavy drag around the gravel. Would look spot on.

I don’t think any shop is ever “big enough”. At least you shouldn’t be working in the mud when you’re inside now and in Captain Kleeman’s last video he showed you’re keeping the Puppy Dog back from the wall enough to open the hood for your pre start checks without having to back it up. Very well thought out and a work in progress at the same time. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I've a 48x52 Morton that I'd like to do that to. How many and what/which panels and controls? How much is the additional cost, how much electricity will be saved, and how long will it take to pay that off?
@REALfish1552
@REALfish1552 2 жыл бұрын
@@lt1nut To do something that minor wouldn't take much equipment. A trickle charger takes almost no power consumption, so could probably be done using small panels in the range of $300-400 for 2 of them? We run 4 150w LED lights for our riding arena off 1 marine deep cycle battery using a single panel and it will power it for 6-8 hours. I think our whole setup was maybe $500-$600 with 2 x 16 ft 4x4 poles, the wiring, conduit, switch, weather-proof box, battery, solar controller unit, inverter and all.

Some years back I'd have been all all over that gravel trailer. I wanted a short full frame trailer that I'd have put sideboards on and used it to cart logging slash off jobs where necessary. Figured to have a dolly so it could be pulled around the jobs by the shovel and, when loaded, dropped where a semi could haul it away. Yours would have been perfect!

We have learned the hard way about leaving equipment outside in the weather. Water will almost always find a way to ruin something expensive. I'm thinking of a dozer we had that water found a way in and seized the engine. This building was worth it in terms of time and expense because you will preserve what you have. Wise move.

39:56 If you hang a tennis ball (or some other soft ball) on a string from the rafters so the ball just barely touches the windshield when the truck is where it is now, you can park it more easily in the future since you know to pull in and stop when the ball touches the windshield, you know you're an inch or two away from the back wall...

The way i do it at work building roads is compact it with the double drum vibrate pass, then a static pass. Add water let it soak in, then do a final grade with more dry material. Then again with the double drum, vibrate pass, static pass. Add more water and then hit it with the wobbly multiple tire packer for a few hours. After that if you can get nice weather for it to dry it turns into concrete. As long as your base material has good binder in it.

Check out a liquid gravel stabilizer. Apply with sprayer then pack. Penetrates up to 4 to 6 inches and then pack. It's what Australia uses to "pave" their roads in the outback for the 3 trailer deep land train semis. It turns dirt into concrete.
