As the home owner was happy for you to drill holes into their brickwork, you might consider adding a couple of M10 DeWalt Snake anchors into the wall to allow you fix your ladder safely. You can get an addition to the ladder that is a wider bar at the base with rubber feets. It makes it so much more stable and safer. Here in Sweden roof workers like chimney swipers aren't even going to go up if you don't have that type of adition to your ladder.

Bit longer than normal, but lots of wisdom in it. Recommend you keep the nail gun in a locked case to stop the little ones playing with it.

MyEnergi have a killer product here. Their biggest strength is the full on integrated ecosystem where every equipment talks seamlessly and it is easy to add new equipments without difficult configuration steps or problems. I really like the route this company is going and how they take every step carefully instead of announcing a lot of products in their ecosystem at once. They have the Zappi and the Eddi, what they are know for, after it turned into a grown, reliable and trustworthy product they announced and released the Libbi. They have all the conditions, with this current heading, to be a very powerful world wide player in a long term.

That was fun, even if you didn’t hide the difficult bits - like being knackered at the end of the day - and, whilst I already have progressively installed solar, Powerwall v2 and an EV along with a standard 7kW wall charger + Octopus Go (not all at once), all of which has saved me a boat load of cash over the passed 5 years, I’m still a bit jealous of MyEnergie suite of prods. @Johan Korten yeah I think it's important to remember LiFePo4 is different to lithium ion. Much more stable and less likely to enter thermal runaway and ignite. Still it's always a worry. Our position is the same as Cory's. Garages etc and avoid escape routes/lofts. Outside is no easy win as then you need a heat source over winter and have issues to handle in terms of corrosion, insects, moisture, reduced performance. No easy answers tbh.
@johankorten2797
@johankorten2797 Жыл бұрын
@@electrician247 yup, they (those bike scammers) use Li-Ion indeed instead of LiFePo4. I'm not sure were I would go for, 12V 'traction batteries' also seem to be a viable option. But I would probably prefer LiFePo4 indeed.

Nice install. Please don't worry about fire/explosion or such things with LFP batteries. They are save. Many YT channels did these tests, as also the manufacturer states this. The only thing to worry about are fumes when a battery cell is punctured or overheated. The BMS will take care off overheating, but I agree with you: better save then sorry. Some thoughts: The plan putting them outside, is in my opinion not the best. They just perform the best in a normal house climate. Absolute minimums: Charging >0 C Discharging > -20 C But better between 10 and 20. Manufacturers like the Tesla Wall do have heating/coolant, like in their cars. But, that brand (for building quality) is a Rolls Royce, other brands have to prove themselves, if they even thought about it, other then putting a simple peltier element or only a heatplate in the box. So, temperature is a huge 'thing', also the power it consumes.

For the average domestic customer I'm sure the libbi will find a market (albeit its going to be huge over the next few years!), but lets be honest Victron Energy are already way way ahead, at a similar price point, but you get a much more resilient profesional marine / industrial base product, with worldwide community support in the unlikely event that you need it.
@tlangdon12
@tlangdon12 Жыл бұрын
To my mind, Victron have messed up by having too many seperate components. It gives lots of flexibility, but most homeowners don't want to have to deal with the complexity it creates.
@edc1569

Victron aren’t even in this segment IMO. They’re great if you’re at sea and you need that modularity and redundancy, but at home, unless you’re Off-Grid and technically minded, no way. The problem is this system is currently priced at hysteria 2021 prices. Price of LFP has dropped, shipping costs are 15% of what they were, inverters have come back down, eventually the manufacturers will have to feed this through to consumers.

@@edc1569 I agree - we went to visit a whole of the market distributor / installer (voltacon), and had the choice of the system cory installed (voltacon are currently selling an ex-demo for £4k incl. Great video as always Cory. But being honest, the libbi seems really overpriced when you compare it to the new GivEnergy all in one. This 10kwh +3.6kw inverter for 7270 + vat where the all in one is 13.5kwh +6kw inverter for 5995+vat. The GivEnergy also comes with gateway to automatically take you off grid in the event of a powercut.

Hey, not when you take into consideration the integration of the water heating and EV charging, that’s the real USP that givenergy can’t do.
@mrmuds8624
@mrmuds8624 Жыл бұрын
@@jordanbrompton4078 you don't need the libbi battery to be able to solar divert to either the eddi for your hot water or zappi for your car. I currently have a zappi charger, but no solar. When I get solar, I think I will choose the GivEnergy system. About the only thing that will be missing will be the functionality to say "discharge whatever is in the battery to the car" (I'm assuming that's what you will have if you have the full my energy eco system)
@caldosan5823
@caldosan5823 Жыл бұрын
Agreed @Mr Muds. I have a Zappi and eddi, and I am a fan of these products but the all in one will take a lot of sales away. Libbi (inc tax) is £855 per kWh stored vs £533 for the all in one. £322 per kWh premium for a USP and a smaller nominal output? Discharge of a battery is most sensibly done for home white goods/electronics/cooking consumption not hot water or car charging. The latter can be done cheaply overnight or with solar.
@stuartjohnston1086
@stuartjohnston1086 Жыл бұрын
Was just thinking similar, it does seem overpriced. The last install I did was a Solis AC coupled + 6.7kWh of Pylontech batteries. Hardware cost was under £3k + vat. Ok, it's not as neat or well integrated as the Libbi seems to be, but it works well. I'm not seeing how the extra £1600 for a 4.6kWh Libbi (Usable capacity.) justifies itself.

Moving into a new house and looking at the myeneryi system the house currently has a Mixenergy water tank and solar. Do you know if you can add the Myenergi car charger and batterys while still keeping the futures of the mixergy water tank ? or would you have to add in the Harvi and loose the futures of the current water tank ?

I reckon so 🤔 - I’d have to look closer, but it’s effectively just a smart thermostat you’d be adjusting, when the eddi sees the water as satisfied it’ll switch itself off still

Question, do people need solar or could we just get a battery pack and use Octopus Energy to charge it with off peak and spend its charge during on peak ?? Obviously depending on usage, but if the usage is say below 10kwh a day.

Hi Danny you can do that yes . To get on the octopus go tariff you need to have an electric vehicle. You can get 5 hours of unlimited charging a night at 8.5p per kw .

IP rated and the inverter is in the unit? Sold, I'll take 4. As long as I can control it with something sensible home automation wise - if it's a dumb brick that requires a phone app they can keep it :) No srsly though it's so obviously what is needed it's kinda mind boggling that it's taken so long to get something like that on the market. Those of us who don't have a garage and our CU is in a downstairs toilet need the battery outside, and really we need the inverter outside too AND we need it not to look like a bowl of spaghetti.

Nice system however, but much like every other system barring the Tesla Powerwall - it doesn't have an ATS gateway (automatic transfer switch)....so you can't have backup power for the whole house.

It has an island mode but it’s limited to 20amps, giveenergy have an ATS

Just a pity for a 20kw set-up you need the 4 batteries + the inverter, instead of a couple of 10kw batteries like the Tesla powerwall,hopefully once established they'll bring out a single larger battery 🙏 Integration though with the other myenergi products is it's USP 👌

The external mounting of the batteries . The legs of the bottom battery are sitting on what looks like tarmac drive. If all the weight is on them the legs will slowly sink. Also consideration of location against flash flooding. If there is a risk, perhaps locating higher from ground or elsewhere.. Great video loved it.

I tried to buy a Libbi to install myself, and Myenergi refused saying it must be installed by a professional, having installed the Zappi, Eddi and solar panels myself I think the libbi looks pretty straightforward too. Not sure why they won’t sell it to private owners. Thanks for the video 🙂👌

There’s a lot more permissions and hoops to jump through, this product doesn’t just affect you; but installed improperly or without the correct grid approvals could affect your whole neighbourhood

@@corymac surly this could be easily done though as a private installer? Similar approvals are needed for solar. Not to mention I could just install any battery system and not have any restrictions in terms of buying / installation. Just seems a shame as I’d love to install a libbi but the price on top of paying for installation just puts it out of the question.

They're protecting their branding, nothing more. There's absolutely no reason you can't diy it. And that includes applying for your own G98/99 depending on the inverter. The core inverter is already on the approved list at the ENA.

FYI - due to our disjointed regulation industry when it comes to electricians......a private individual can apply / send off the necessary paperwork for G98/99/100 approval. There are no regulations to state you must be a qualified electrician - simply because 'qualified' actually means nothing as well....the only thing that may identify an electrician as 'qualified' is being registered with a scheme such as NICEIC - which is a private scheme and nothing to do with any legislation. You can also ask the DNO to upgrade your fuse - again you don't actually need to be an electrician registered with any trade body / scheme.
