Today I Install 1.5” wheel spacers on my Dodge Challenger. My winter wheels from my Dodge Charger would not clear the 4 piston brembo brake calipers. Hub centric Wheel spacers were required to use my wheels. If you are interested in seeing the install process check out this video.

Wow!!!! This is Awesome. Glad you told me about this when you did. Ride is great. Actually feels smoother than when I had them on my old RT too.

Your welcome and thanks for all of your collaboration and help through the process. Super grateful. I agree 100% on the ride. I had these on my charger and the ride. With my Charger it always felt floaty and could tell I had 65 side walls. This ride is both smoother and tighter. It drives like I have lower profile tires. I em enjoying them for sure

Right?!? Thanks man. Haha yeah they are sticking out further than I thought they would but been driving on them for a good 100-150 miles and the drive feel is good and no rubbing of any kind. Now that I see how they fit I should be able to get 1.0 or 1.25” and the. They will fit better. Fortunately Challengerof theday and I worked this out. He put his on first and at least I knew going into it that they work.

Nice !!! That’s gonna look killer. It should drive really nice. I have my snows on as you know but The overall handling should be much improved. I would just go back and retorque the lugs on the spacers 100- 500 miles after the install to insure they are properly torqued to spec. I found a few lugs needed to be tweaked a bit after 1000 miles. I waited a while but glad I went back to check. Good luck. You should like them.

On the newer chargers and challengers there is a probably an inch and a half round thick rubber jack lift point / lift support that I used to jack it up and then I rest the car on the jack stands on the pinch welds. Yeah I have destroyed a couple pinch welds in the past using that point as a jack point.

I have a few question for you. With putting 1.5 inch spacers on, did you have any rubbing issues? Like turning into an inclined driveway or such. Anything in particularly useful to know? Like your car will feel different or handle differently. Just wanted to know. I ask these questions cause I’m looking at putting 1 inch spacers on my challenger as well. I like the look it gives your ride. I subbed, keep up the good content.

Thanks for the support and kind words. I did not have any rubbing however this was with 18x7.5” wheels and 225 width snow tires so everything was narrow. The only concern I had was the front fender. The tires stuck out a little wider than the fender (back was never an issue). If you ever fell into a deep pit hole it might rub or hit it. Never did for me though. One thing I will say about 1” spacers is you will need to cut the studs. That’s why I got 1.5”. You should be able to get 1.25” without needing to cut the studs. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

@@BurnseysRT Buddy.......thank you so much for the input. I'm running 18x7.5" as well with 235x55R18 all seasons on mine. I have a handheld grinder and have lots of experience cutting bolts and rounding the ends off to still be good so I'm not worried cutting the studs. From what you're saying it sounds like I should be good. I really appreciate the info sir.

Good job on this one man! ;-) Say, would it be just fine to put 1" or 1.5" wheel spacers (hub-centric) on the rear of an SRT 392 ("narrow body") with its stock 275/40/20 tires? Will it achieve the same outcome as yours? Or should I just get wider wheels + tires instead?
@BurnseysRT
@BurnseysRT 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you much!! That is a good question and I have asked myself the same question. I tried doing 1.0” spacers and my wheels didn’t mount right so I would probably go with 1.25” spacers. The spacers are a cheap way to get that wide stance but if money is not an issues I would get wider wheels and tires to get that effect. I never had issues with the spacers but it’s just one more thing to think about. I am in a Charger Scat Pack now and I plan on getting new 18” winter wheels that I won’t need spacers for.

Hi there. I got the performance handling group which comes with the 4 piston brembos, 9X20 wheels and high performance suspension. So it did come this way from the factory. My guess is you can make those work somehow but I am not exactly sure how.

My overall impressions after around 200 miles is very good. In my Charger although a little heavier felt a little floaty with these wheels and tires. My suspension is tighter with the challenger though. On the challenger with the spacers it’s noticeably more taught and honestly the body lean is not noticeable at all. Getting off the highway at 70 mph on a exit ramp that turns while you needed to slow down you felt the weight shift all around on the Charger. On the same exist ramps with the Challenger I honestly cannot notice that I have skinny high profile tires. The drive is amazingly better than it was with these on the Charger.

Can you keep your 1.5" spacers-on and still use it with stock rims? Is there any rubbing on the front? Im planning to install a fender flare and keeping rims offset will be good for stock tires. Im afraid there will be rubbing on front. Your input will be much appreciated.
@BurnseysRT
@BurnseysRT 3 жыл бұрын
If you had 8” rims with 245s you might be able to but in the front will be close for comfort. It could rub if you hit a large bump. Even the 7.5x18s I have with 225s is a little too close for comfort.

I have not tried putting the summers o yet. Probably won’t for another 6-7 weeks. But my guess is the fronts won’t work and will stick out too much but maybe not. @BurnseysRT 3 жыл бұрын
Well. It’s a hard question to answer. I ran 225/60/18 with my 1.5” spacers and they worked but the clearance on the front fender was tight. With 235s it would be tighter. I did worry about the tires hitting the fenders. They never did but they stuck out. The rears have plenty of clearance. I tried 1.0” spacers and I would have had to cut the studs on the hub to do that and I didn’t want to mess with that. So I wouldn’t go 1.0” and I wasn’t thrilled with 1.5”. There is a decent chance the 1.25” would work up front but I never tried that. Hope this helps. Good luck.
