A few years ago, I was walking past a policeman who had just pulled over some idiot in a big car who had been speeding. The driver was as thick as two short planks, and wouldn't shut up. The policeman shut him up, by saying: "You're nowhere near as important as you think you are, sir, and certainly not important enough to be doing over sixty, in a thirty zone." I love that.

I have just once. A car flew by me at like, 15 over the speed limit on a section of road that was entering into a city. That entrance point though is near a college campus, so the speed limit really drops and there's always police around. I crest a hill after the idiot flew past me and was happy to see him pulled over. I slowed down enough for them to see both myself and my brother laughing at them.

This was SO FUN. When I was in my early 20's, a pickup pulled up next to my friend and me at a very long red light on the outskirts of town. The guys were hanging out, yelling disgusting things to us, and at one point, opened their passenger door next to my driver's door. My friend and I surreptitiously checked our door locks (before power locks) while staring straight ahead, my knuckles white on the steering wheel. As one of the passengers and some beer cans slid out of the truck, I heard the squelch of a loud speaker. "I SUGGEST YOU GET BACK INTO YOUR VEHICLE AND STAY THERE." In my side view mirror, I saw a black & white CHP car behind them. As the light turned green, the pickup got halfway through intersection before the night sky lit up with revolving red lights. Sometimes there are cops around when you need them.

@@user-jy3zl2vp4b The larger the population center you live in, the less likely you are to see it, as the bigger the city/town, the more the likelihood the officers simply don't have time to do proactive traffic enforcement. I didn't have that issue for over a decade, as there was always a cop around no matter where I went. He was me. I *LOVED* working traffic detail. I wrote more tickets at one point as a reserve officer working one shift a week, than the rest of the department combined, but I also gave out twice as many warnings as I did citations. In regular traffic conditions and zones, you were likely to get a warning. If you were dumb enough to make your violation inside a school or construction zone..., no sympathy at all.

@@cameronking5074 here in Australia they are paid to pull people over, especially the highway patrol and they are complete arseholes. Let's just say you wouldn't argue with them. Our city of Melbourne is also jam packed with speed and red light cameras, in other words revenue raisers. My main beef though is that the Australian design rules on speedo accuracy allow for +/-10% error yet the cops and speed cameras only allow 2%. Glad I don't speed.

@@cameronking5074 you may disagree with police stopping people for speeding but I’m assuming you’ve never seen the devastation to a human body by someone crashing at speed or even not paying attention and rear ending someone at a junction. I have, one lady was only rear ended at 30mph but broke her back in multiple places. Speeders are like drunk drivers - they always seem to walk away without a scratch but leave a wake of devastation behind them and us fighting to save those innocent peoples lives. Perhaps you should ask to shadow first responders or an ER to see the devastation of speeding or even police when they go to notify the innocent persons family that they were killed by a speeder

What we didn't know was a recent police academy had just graduated so over 22 law enforcement were on hand to write the tickets. Or more reasonably, license suspended for several months. It's a bit of overkill to jail someone who hasn't even injured anyone, and it's definitely over the top to take their license away "forever." Of course, if there was such a thing as "karma" (there is not), your making such a foolish statement means that YOU would be the one to get hit with just such a sentence eventually, so maybe it should be mandatory, after all.

@@jb6712 spoken like someone who drives thinking only of themselves and has reason to fear being caught doing just such a thing. I speak like a man who raised 5 daughters. Who has seen the result of a child, not mine thank god, hit by a car. A family friend who lost a daughter. Hit is a crosswalk in a school zone by someone like you who thinks its just to harsh.

School zone speed limits are 15 mph in my State. Most of the time, the zone areas are marked with flashing amber lights. Even if school is not in session, if the amber lights are lit, you must slow down to the posted 15 mph. The fines are fairly stiff as well as the number of points given; I think you get 6 points but if you get to 12 you lose your license.

I typically have sympathy for people being pulled over. I mean, after all, we've all done something at some point that SHOULD have resulted in a ticket but didn't. but when it comes to these people who do stupid shit like driving down the emergency lane to get a few cars ahead or pass cars in oncoming lanes, I have no sympathy.

I have no sympathy at all. If someone has been pulled over its probably because they deserve it. More likely it's a case of they finally got caught. I'm a truck driver and I'll tell you the worst thing drivers do and they do it every day. I'll be in the far right lane on the highway and there will be someone right behind me also in the far right lane who happens to be going to the next exit which is a half a mile away and they always within that half mile speed up and pass you and cut over in front of you. By that time they are about to miss the exit so they slam on their brakes to make it in time which then makes everyone else slam on their brakes and slow down so we don't hit them. They could have just stayed where they were in that same lane for another 30 seconds max and make the turn but instead they are dickheads and feel this need to get there a little faster and disrupt the flow of traffic. They don't care about anyone else having to slow down as long as they get there faster. This shit happens at least 30 times a day.

A few years ago, I hit a step ladder in my Dodge Charger doing 75MPH. There was no warning and it was unavoidable. It fell out of a truck ahead of me that hadn't tied it secured it. The damage was mostly scuffing, but the metal hinge that connected the front and back of the ladder was imbedded in my lower fender. The driver never stopped, but another motorist stopped to check on me.
