This couple is wonderful. They’ve managed to build their own house from the ground up... together, there’s no slaking off from his woman, she gives as much as her husband gives. And she works her body in more ways than one. She tends their livestock, and he helps while he can. She homeschools her children, cooks all their meals while washing all their clothes. Their children are wonderful as well, and help out feeding and grooming their livestock’s. And their little sister, Ellie fills their world with laughter and smiles. Her husband is an electrician engineer, built their solar panels, and added heat & light to their home and family. It’s obvious that he really loves his wife, and he’s such a great dad all year round. He actually plays with his children, while he protects his family at the same time. I’ve loved watching all their programs. It’s very inspirational.

You two are amazing. I've said it before, but young couples could learn a lot from seeing how you two tackle whatever together and pull toward a common goal. Instead of fighting each other, you fight the task ahead whatever that be. Fun to watch!

Raised on a ranch in Montana, Grandma, a German lady, had chickens, turkeys, geese, and pigeons for fowl and Beef cattle. No Pigs, said they stank. There was also wild game Deer and Pheasants , so a pretty varied protean diet. First lesson, don't make friends with something you're going to be eating, it takes away some of the flavor. No joke. Really enjoy your show, so please keep them coming.

Heck yeah. R-30 insulation in the floor is awesome. I am rebuilding our pump house for the well on the family farm. I put 1inch polystyrene insulation rated R-3.9, then 2"x4" fiberglass insulation which is rated R-13 for a total of R-16.9 and I think that is good. With the plywood too, you guys will be warm.

Malcolm McGrath many people say bees when they mean wasps. Buzzy colony insects with stingers are never good housemates, whether they make honey or not. Here in New England the biggest issue is paper wasps, which are solid brown, not striped like most stinging insects. They love wood, undersides of wood especially, and a gap in wood is even more inviting for them. And they are mean. Apparently the pain of their sting ranks quite high on the scale that some lunatic made by letting loads of bugs sting him.

Hey Josh, I've got a technical concern. Shouldn't the bottom of the floor be ventilated? Think of this as an upside-down roof where ventilation air is brought in at the bottom of the roof through soffit vents and relieved through air vents at the top. In this case, you will need to vent the joist spaces at both ends to allow airflow through the joist space otherwise you will trap moist air in the floor structure which may result in the floor joist etc rotting out. Instead of the plywood you probably should have used ventilated soffit. But now that the plywood is in maybe install some of those plastic bullet vents or cut in slots with bug screen.....Marty

On a more generalised note - I'm absolutely intrigued by the materials used in construction of homes there - our "norm" is brick and mortar. Great job guys. Your house has to be the best well- built house around. All your hard work will pay off when you're all comfortable and cozy in your warm house this winter. We have learned a lot from you and will go back to your videos for reference as needed. Thank you so much for taking us along in your beautiful house- building journey.

I'm very impressed with how well you two work together. My wife and I did home Renovations together and that was fun, but not many couples are able to do what you two do and still like each other at the end of the day. Well done you two!!! Also, I'm also impressed at how strong the Mrs. is. Good work!
