Love Your Channel, filmography is truly stellar! I have designed with engineers many storm shelters for school districts, you MUST have ample support under your beam spanning the opening, you are creating a fault. Can not stress enough how ample structure needs to be in place here. The rest of your design looks really good.

Disappointed to see that Josh apparently supports "Demoilitia Ranch" and what it represents. As a European my wife and I cannot understand the attitude many Americans have towards lethal weapons. Having been a viewer of your channel for over 4 years regretfully we will no longer subscribe. Nonetheless we wish you and your family every happiness and that you never experience gun violence.
@WildWonderfulOffGrid23 сағат бұрын
First of all, it’s not called “Demoilitia Ranch”- that error alone demonstrates you don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to Matt Carriker, his family, his channel or what he represents. You two clearly also know nothing other than regurgitated talking points about “Americans attitudes towards lethal weapons”, gun violence statistics or gun laws considering your attempting to tie a t-shirt and gun violence together 🙄 Behavior like you’ve shown in your comment displays much of what’s wrong with this world but nonetheless, we wish you the best and hope you and your wife never experience uneducated opinions from those you come into contact with

The boys are growing up to amazing young men, Josh one day will help and teach them to build their own home, quite a few years till then, but imaging it brings a smile to my face, great kids. Ellie's protectors.

Inexcusable rebar doesn't have "caps" on ends to reduce chance of being impaled. Come on, Josh!

I’ve been following you guys for years, Love your family and your respect for each other. I wish you would put protective covers on the ends of the rebar, I seen a man get impaled on one crippled and it almost killed him. Love you guys, God Bless you, your family and all of your future projects. ❤

I love your channel! I hope your safe room will keep you safe; but please consider a second emergency exit and a ventilation system. Also, if the doors opens inward or outward is an important point to consider, pending on what kind of problems you want to protect from...

I just can't believe how big your children have gotten, especially the boys. I've been following since the five of you lived in the camper and they were all so little. You have a beautiful family and raising them with good work ethic and values. Gold stars for parenting!

I have to say , when you were both lifting the big steels over the rebar I had to fast forward ! I just couldn’t watch it , it looked like an accident waiting to happen!! Erin , I do worry that you are pushing yourself way too much, I have watched your videos for years now and really enjoy your Journey, but with what happened recently I don’t see you sitting up and taking notice of what I feel your body is trying to tell you! You have a young family and need to take care of them and be there for the long run. Please, please Listen to what your body is telling you before it is too late.

Thankfully, the losses were not as bad as they could have been. Your trees behind your house are still a major threat. Tips for people building: 1. No trees large enough and close enough to the house to be able to fall on it and do damage. 100 lives and a billion dollars in damage are done from the lack of that precaution every year. 2. extra nails on shingles, and hurricane tiedown on roof, roof tied to walls, and walls tied to foundation. Everything strongly connected. 3. Stronger garage doors. Sudden failure of garage doors from either positive or negative pressure resulted in rapid and very damaging changes to building pressure. 4. Consider strong window shutters that can seal the building. This can also be a big heating and cooling benefit if they are insulated and used at night or on cooling days when exterior light is not important. 5. If not in flood risk areas. Earth sheltered homes with sod roof are much safer.
