At Rock Hill Farm and Homes we upload new videos at least 3 times per week, about our 20 Acre hobby farm, our John Deere 2038R compact tractor and other equipment, and the businesses that we run.
These businesses include a manufacturing operation, a Christmas tree farm, real estate investing, a lawn care business, and an online retail store. I demonstrate how I am able to use these ventures to earn a good living without a traditional job.
We have some cool toys and always think outside the box on our little homestead so come along for the ride.
You can expect new videos from us every other day, usually around 8 AM.

This was perfect! The exact same size as my shop. I’m sure the price will be more with inflation for me. But thank you! This was helpful

Do you have any problems with moisture between the insulation sheets and the outside metal sheet? Looks great!

What kind of adhesive did you use that did not eat into the styrofoam?

The foil only works if there's like 2-3" of air gap in front of it. So the foil between your girts isn't really doing anything to reflect the sun's heat. Nice work on the insulation though - I plan to do something very similar to mine this spring!

I’m sure that mathematically and theoretically the things that you’re saying are accurate. Here’s what I can tell you in the real world. I didn’t spend very much on this and my shop stays warm with an undersized heat source

@@RockhillfarmYT That's all that matters! Like I said, I'll be doing the same thing very soon! Any condensation issues on the steel? I have a 24x32 pole barn, Planning to do pretty much exactly what you did.

@@ShopTherapy623 we definitely asking all the smart questions. There are no visible issues, but I glued that top layer to the wall and I wouldn’t know if there was condensation behind it I guess. It’s been almost 4 years and glad with what I went with. If I was a rich guy, I would’ve probably done it another way.

The insulation is worked out really well. We took a break from it and now I’m almost done insulating the ceiling. We don’t have building permits or anything like that out here. None of the circuits are overloaded

So, how well did it work to keep the building warm in the winter? Outside vs inside temps? What region location?

We are in Kansas. The HVAC guy recommended a 5 ton unit and I found a 3 1/2 ton unit. It’s been about a year and a half since we did this and it stays comfortable year-round I don’t know what I showed in the video but I also use the same foam to lower the ceiling to the bottom of the rafters

Not bad, but if you were to use bat insulation and make the walls come in a bit more you could get a much higher R value for cheaper and about the same labor.

You missed your golden opportunity to create the necessary air flow on the outer skin of your building when you put the panels up against the metal siding between the purlins. You've now created a disaster. The best way was/is to put full panels of insulation right over the purlins leaving an air gap between the outer purlin and inner side of the metal siding, creating said air space which allows the outer shell to "breathe" and self control moisture, while not effecting climate loss/gain inside the structure. Sorry to rain on your parade.

Not only that, by placing the foil side against the siding, it completely negates any effect it has. The foil (radiant barrier) requires an air gap to function. With it installed this way, the "radiant barrier" is actually acting as a conducting layer, so heat is transferred from the siding into the insulation through the foil.
