I need insulin injections to stay alive because my pancreas produces almost no insulin. Sometimes, I take an insulin injection and my blood sugar goes from the mid-100s to over 300, without consuming ANY carbs or protein. Your video explains perhaps why this happens. The body is protecting itself from the fast-acting Novolog insulin injection by releasing Glucagon/Glycogen to quell the rapid insulin influx, which makes the blood sugar rise up quite rapidly. I was injecting even more Novolog to stop the sudden rise, but it only made it rise even more, sometimes to 400 or higher. It's taken me 29 years as a Type-1 to figure this out, thanks in part to your video. Thank you.

The balance between insulin and glucagon helps provide enough energy for cells while preventing nerve damage that can result from persistently high blood sugar levels.

Over 70 in age requirement for protein is higher than the younger ages - IF you are a “senior”, don’t let your muscles weaken by cutting back on protein (like I did, age 72) on the keto diet!!!! Im still trying to build back!!!!

Thankyou Dr Berg for all your content. I’ve been binging over your KZfaq videos over the last month or so and have learnt a great deal more about keto and IF. We are inundated with often contradictory definitions of what’s healthy these days including the ‘truths’ instilled in us growing up (which are inadvertently redundant thinking now) I am super grateful that there are professionals like you who prioritise growth through research and experience, and constantly spread your knowledge, noting that most doctors i come across to this day operate from a treat the symptoms paradigm over finding the root problem and prevention… not to mention know next to nothing about nutrition. Just wanted to say thankyou.

2 years ago while on holidays I was eating within a 12 hours window with a big breakfast (for what I'm used to but mostly fruit, muesli and almond milk ) and big dinner and lost weight. Actually after dinner I had to go for a walk as I was very full. And by no means I was hungry at 8.30am the next day! When I got home and stepped on the scale I went "ok, let's see how much did I gain". Why did I lose weight? No snacks, more protein and almost no sweets (the food at the hotel was great and was filling up on that while the desserts weren't and had no sweet tooth while there ). The exercise was just walking, some days 10000 steps. It was great someone else doing the cooking, I do miss that!..

@@janicep1508 if you make the other macros low and moderate then one of them must be high. our body can recycle proteins and can make glucose from different substrates. however we can't recycle energy so unless your goal is to lose weight [that mean create a calorie deficit] then your fat must be higher than the other macros. but if I were you I don't follow a calorie deficit diet instead do IF and sometimes a prolonged fasting.

Would love to see a discussion with dr. Ted Naiman about the PE diet. And specific about the recommended protein intake. So what is wisdom, moderate protein or not ? I am confused. And what happends with fat intake in the absense of an insuline spike? They body will do something with this energy I presume, not wast it. Wil the lipids appear after a while in the bloodstream? Can they be stored without insuline to open the cells ? That is also confusing..

I like "Love Good Fats" bars, especially the mint chocolate and lemon mousse flaour, btw they are expensive more than ever, but I still keep buying. They are so delious sometimes I can't just have one, so ends up 2 or 3. Eventhough they are Keto proved but still 50% fats, 50%of carbs, less than 2g of sugar. Worst part I guess is they contain "Whey protein isolates" which spikes insulin. Yesterday I had 4, (why? since I didn't eat any other carbs feel hungry but I do eat a big salad) consequences are, I didn't sleep well at all and have to get up 4:30 am to drink a glass of apple cider vinegar water to counter that effect.

Still, what i'm curious about is how can you survive basically 2 months without eating anything? So i'm guessing for like a week or 2 your blood sugars are gonna be fine, so somehow your body although it cannot store amino acids or glycerol but it still keeps it around to balance your blood sugars? The rest clear from now but is that how it works, or is there some other mechanism?

Dr. Berg, have you ever made a video on "going on a Fat Only Diet"? Just fats, no veggies, no protein. Let's say Fats Only +vitamins and minerals. *What would happen in the body?* _Could there be benefits to switch from a Healthy Keto+IF diet to a Fat Only+IF diet, for a few weeks?_ I guess...there would be weight loss. Now the fats would be olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, cod fish oil, maybe MCT and maybe some nut oils? I don't quite think it's a very good idea to eat animal fats without veggies and protein, at least not pork fat. Beef, lamb and chicken/poultry fats are more digestible than pork fat-and the digestion might be a problem on a Fat Only Diet.....or not? If you are Fat Adapted, it should be easy/easier? Maybe one could get by on 100g/100ml of cod fish oil a day and nothing else? And that's just shy of 900kcal from only fat. I say 100ml as 200ml seems a lot, and might be hard to "stomach" but then 200ml cod fish oil is just 1,800kcal. One should probably have 100ml or more of fats a day anyhow. I'm "gunna do my own research" and give it a try.
