I have an S40 T5 AWD, and I bought it half a year ago as a first car in Austin, TX. I love it. It's my perfect little 'mountain goat'. The steering is responsive, and outside certain highway situations so is the throttle. Being an R-Design, it looks nice and clean yet kind of sporty.I've driven it at top speed and it sat comfortably there. I drove it in the Colorado mountains during a pretty serious storm and it held its own; I could confidently drive it faster than just about any non-truck on that twisty, snowy, half-frozen road. During that same trip I pulled my first 8+ hour stints in the thing without much of an issue. And apart from a subpar fuel economy, it's really good in the city: Not too big, not at all slow, turning radius is good. Mine's also an automatic, so I didn't have to overcome any extra hurdles to developing real-life driving skills.

My dad had a 2008 V50 T5 AWD Turbo with the sport package that later became the R design. It was the gecko green mettalic, and we had nice 18" rims. The factory workers from Sweden told the dealer in the USA how much they liked our car, and the dealer even put our car in the showroom! 2 years ago though, it was totaled. That car was so unique and like no other!

Currently own a 2007 S40 and it's easily the best car I have owned to sate! Everything electrical, climate control, comfort, safety, handling, looks it's really a full package car for my circumstances! One drawback for me in the long run is the fact I would probably need a larger boot for the children's bikes etc other than that I love it

I had an '06 S40 T5, and to this day, I still regret ever trading it. I switched out the steering wheel and shifter for the Volvo offered aftermarket units that incorporated the same silver trim as on the side door panels and center stack.

nice video, just came home after giving back my volvo s40 1.6 2006 for the dealership cause he said the car was fine when sold it to me, but after 1 day the car couldnt pass 3000rpm, so i took it to mechanic he said 1000euros to reapair, so i just gave back the car, yes you can do that if you in the 14 days after buyng, called regret or deffected product

Good review. I disagree that everything else in its class has a larger trunk. I have owned two Mazda 3s, one sedan, one hatch, and both have smaller trunks (boot as we call it here). Or at least, although they may MEASURE larger, they're practically smaller. What's impressive is how the S40 makes the back so sleek without taking away all the boot space. Dude how are you tyres? Because my 2012 (I'm in Australia so we had a 2012 one here) one literally never chirps the tyres, letalone spins them, unless it's wet AND uphill. Did you somehow turn traction control off or something? I also don't get torque steer... maybe yours has a Hilton stage 1 tune (it's electric so you could easily have that and not know). EDIT: My apologies... you mentioned the tyres and the wheels. Yes, mine has the 17s cos it's R-design but they're not expensive tyres or anything.

Better than a 4 speed. Look at the 9th gen Impala. Above the LTZ was the SS, in the previous generation, it was powered by a SC3.8, but they switched to a 5.3 LS4. The 4 speed was the same basically from the late 70’s. After all that, you are wondering, what all that has to do with anything. The 3.6 later produced over 300 hp like the LS4, but with a little less torque, and the power band was higher than the LS4 (V8 low end torque, vs V6) . The largest difference between the two was 6 speed in the nonSS years vs the 4 speed in the earlier SS years. The V6 will out run the LS4 everyday. I will see if I can find the video of the next gen Impala running the I forgot what it’s called, but it is stupid amazing what technology does. As for as comparing them. Look up LS4 , or LS4 Impala, and the LS4 was available in I believe 4 different cars, and the sister cars had the NorthStar V8 with the better transmission, even though the NorthStar had less power. So to sum it up, more gears, more performance, more gas mileage, along with more reliability.

Here you go, enjoy. This is nuts. Pay attention, he mentions that he shifts to 9th. That is 9 speed transmission.

So, you say that S40 is not as quiet as the competition? I drove V50 and Audi A3 8P and also have feeling, that the road noise is much more better muted in Audi. What a pity, because seats in Volvo are just perfect, but I also attach considerable attention to quietness inside the car. Probably that's because of the similarity to Ford Focus that is very noisy.

@piotrpastuszko75145 жыл бұрын
Jedyny problem to padnieta przepustnica. Już był by mój ale wszyscy tak straszyli że palą 15 litrów benzyny itd. Ale z tego co widzę to Ci, którzy nigdy Volvo nie mieli to gadają takie głupoty.

You gave some incorrect information. There was slight interior differences made in the car from 2004-2011, and also the first generation S40 began in 1995. 2011 Volvo S40 T5 owner.
@lamontmcleod2 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think he meant the P1 style. The S40 began in 1995 but that was an obviously different shaped car. From 2004 to 2012 (mine's 2012 as I'm not in the USA), they're basically identical.
