Bro believe me or not, I bought a r5 3600 for 45 bucks on the marketplace, and a 6700 xt for 220 bucks. My whole pc only cost me 600 bucks 😂

I built my pc a few years ago with a ryzen 5 3600 and 3060ti. I play at 1440p with everything maxed out, except brand new games even then it's all ultra/high settings. This is a seriously good CPU.

Absolutely true especially for the bent pines ones you can get them really cheap and just bent the pins back to normal and you have a very decent cpu

Especially at this low price point, your choice of graphics card is what really matters. In most cases, you'll be pairing a lower end card with CPUs like this, which means in gaming your performance will be so similar that CPU choice doesn't matter. And if you're a power user, doing video editing and such, why would you be looking at CPUs like these?

It would help if you also provided the price of a brand new 3600, which is about the same as the i3 13100F, with the stock CPU cooler, and much cheaper without it. So even buying new, with no risk for bent/missing pins, the Ryzen 5 3600 is, at the very least, on equal footing with the i3 13100F, depending on what you want the CPU for (5 FPS vs more overall performance). And that's ignoring the fact that for that same price tag or less you can get Ryzen 5 4600G and even 5600. Provide all the information next time.

People need to realize that just about ANY modern CPU is enough for gaming. GPU is where you want to spend a little extra money if you can. But unless your trying to game at 4k.... Any modern GPU and CPU will play ANY game at 1080p.

I have a ryzen 5 3600 and i like it. It is so cheap these days,even brand new is kinda cheap and i would recommend it if you want to build a mid range pc

I searched for ages for a 3600 in that price area, they just don't exist! Ended up buying a new one for the same as the used ones were going for on ebay

Overclock your 3600 Its boost clock goes up to 4.2ghz, but if you just overclock it to always run at 4.2ghz, itll do it happily. I run mine at 4.25ghz base and boost, barely draws any more power, does 8-11% better, stays cool enough that the fan is still basically silent.

5000/4000 Ryzen its been selling at a great value for a while now, I think it is worth considering that before buying an older one. On the other hand, you will problably get better features, better support and more room to upgrade if you go with the 13th gen i3.

I got a steal on a like new 3200G for $30 and am planning on pairing it with an rx 580 and flipping it for a profit.

the 12/13th gen i3 has better single core performance and also leaves room for upgrading to the i5, i7 or i9 of that gen, I use the i3 12100F, and when the time comes I could update my board bios and use a 13th gen i5 or i7 without having to replace my board, plus it's basically an i5 12/13th gen with it's efficiency cores stripped.

Go for a 12100 or a 13100. Whatever is currently best value. 12th and 13th Gen supports 20 pcie 5.0 lanes (x16 for GPU and x4 for an SSD), and they also let you use either DDR4 OR DDR5 RAM.

If you live in the US go for the 3600 cuz it's easier to get cheap. If not just get the 13100f yo

I’m upgrading my computer gpu. I’m giving the other components to my 10 year old and buying a ryzen 5 3600 to pair with the 5600xt I’m giving her. This is way more than enough for Roblox and those simple games. Shittt it still is my daily driver for warzone and it works great! I myself am going with the 4070 super founders for some power and I love the founders card aesthetic

i found used i3-12100 on fbmp for $75 the cheapest b660 is about $94 so 3600 is still better value since used 60 + 60 for asrock b450m-hdv r4.0

Stop measuring speeds of a CPU with Gigahertz. I know that it looks the same at a first glance, but you got to remember that every cpu handles its clock cycles differently. Some CPUs may do many more operations per clock, that’s why some CPUs are faster than others, despite having a significantly lower clock speed. Measuring a CPU’s speed with gigahertz is like measuring a football field with amount of steps walked, it CAN measure that distance sure, however someone else’s steps may be smaller, or larger. Just like how everyone walks a different distance per step, CPUs complete different amounts of operations in a cycle.

Cores and threads are much more important than clock speed. The Ryzen is a better value, but only if paired with a full feature motherboard. Oh, and forget about any Intel components. Oh and also any features the 5000 series brings.

don't forget, that r5 3600 has 2 chiplets, that does not effect in synthetic benchmarks, but highly in real applications, so, actually, no benefits for r5 3600, cause it requires $15 more for cooling and you can buy i3 12100f for around $50-$60 used.

There’s also the fact that lga 1700 doesn’t have as much upgrade path as am4 as long as you have like a b550m you can upgrade all the way to Ryzen 9 5900

But if you buy ddr5 motherboard, upgrade potential for 13100f is huge, you can throw in 13900k latee down the line

The ryzen 5 5500 is only for 89$ rn. And it is a zen 3 refresh of the 3600. something like what they did with 1600af. I think that is also a very good option considering you can get one brand new for 89 bucks
