Little sidequestion my freind has a ASUS Rog z790-H Gaming Wifi with a 14700k There XTU dont work with the saving settings tro next resatrt feature and in bios is no " corevoltage offset setting " more like voltage offset bound to a specific clock, do i have to use i differnt offset for every clock or could i just use like -100mV on every step ?. atm -105mV is max i could use on his XTU (tested with AIDA,Cinebench, yChruncher and OCCT for 1h each) and is there a difference between the offset in bios to the ofset if i use xTU ? What cooling setup do you have? Did you check if your new CPU is thermal throttling? You probably need to undervolt it to see the real benefit over your 10700k. These CPUs run hot by factory settings and undervolting is important even if you are using a custom water loop.

I made those guides because I understand the frustration one can feel when they pay for something and are excited to receive something high-end, only to be let down by unexpected behavior. This is normal for all modern Intel CPUs. Perhaps you have read the fuss about their CPUs dying due to improper pre-applied settings. Do you have enough case ventilation? And do you have your case fans oriented in the right position to ensure optimal airflow? If you believe so, I think your only choice is to lower the voltage even further, and if it doesn't work with the set clocks, just reduce the ratio until you balance thermals and performance.

it's good to set them in BIOS, i think XTU has a good use when you are trying to understand limits and values, and once you are satisfied you can port them to BIOS for a definite application, i do that, but XTU is good when you like to switch between different settings on the fly, it's undoubtedly saved me lot of time knowing what to adjust,

I hope I can try different motherboard brands because, on ASRock, things seem to be okay, but others from different motherboards aren't finding it easy with those predefined profiles. You will still have to change the Load Line Calibration in your MSI mobo, choose the middle level because on your model there should be more than 5 levels like it is for my ASRock I think 8, so choose 5 or 4 or one of them is highlighted as best for OC, i mean to keep our undervolting stable under load if you notice higher temp, try to reduce the PL 1, and PL2 slightly, because I think the max TDP for your cooler is 220w, so I would suggest you limit PL1 to around 210 and PL2 to 220W

If it's working fine on XTU you can keep it and it should auto adjust on windows setup if you activate that option, it's a really light tool so it doesn't consume much resources and you can set different profiles per app or hotkey , it can get so versatile ! But if u prefer using it to understand how to tune ur cpu and then once you get all parameters right, you can then copy them to bios and it should work the same way as it did in XTU

Hello, My VMware virtual machines require Intel Virtualization Technology, and probably benefit from VT-d. Disabling VT is not feasible for me. I have a 14700K CPU on a Z790 mobo, Enabling under-volting seems to upset XTU - it says "Intel XTU is unable to start due to incompatibility with VBS unless your system has undervolt protection enabled." But I just now disabled it as per your video. I seem to be at an impasse. Please advise.

You can still undervolt it through the BIOS, as undervolting with XTU will require disabling the virtualization settings to be able to tune voltages negatively. But your only option if you use a VM would be to undervolt it strictly in the BIOS. Please tell me your motherboard model; if I'm familiar with it, I can tell you how to proceed with it.

Yes, for the XTU profile to be applied, the software should also be running. It's a defensive mechanism in case you experience instability and crash. If the profile were applied without the app running, you could end up stuck and unable to access Windows. This way, you can avoid running the software that is causing the profile issues.

Check to see if you have any AI features enabled in the BIOS and deactivate all of them, as they will interfere with any manual changes you make. That likely explains why even small decrements aren't stable. Also, make sure to set the load line calibration level to level 4 on your Asus board. There are 8 levels, so choose the middle one.

I'll check everything over again to make sure I didn't miss anything but I don't think I did. Edit, I get lower scores on Cinebench 2024 After downloading your profile I see there is a change in System Agent Voltage which seems to improve my scores a bit, Was that not in the video or did I just not see it? can anyone answer this for me please?

System memory agent frequency pertains to the memory, not the CPU core. It aids in tightening memory timings, which determine how tight the timings are that you can boot and stabilize. It helps with CPU uncore components

Will be a lot of help for newbies and intermediate guys as well but still what I personally found that leaving Iccmax to unlimited was feeding a lot of unhealthy Amps which was making the system in turn unstable so I manually set it to 380amps minding intel guidelines for Intel's vcc core performance config..... what motherboard do you have? you also need to check that you have for load line calibration at least the middle-level set, because by default the auto option is set as the lowest one with the biggest vdrop and that causes instability with further under volting, you need to raise the load line calibration level to maintain voltage better, for example, my ASRock board has 5 levels for load line calibration setting, my sweet spot is 3, always choose the middle-way, you can find this setting in motherboard bios, for example i did it on mine min 09:04

Hopefully your config helps. EDIT: Your config made a huge difference in the XTU benchmark wattage/temperatures, bringing me down to around 213w at 75C. Using OCCT however is a different story, still drawing the full 255w whilst sitting at a max temp of 94C on the SSE test. (with a 420mm cooler mind you haha) Cinebench sits around 95c/255w as well.

@TECHOSAUR
@TECHOSAUR 5 ай бұрын
You could lower clock ratios or increase voltage, since increasing load line calibration to a higher level will make it much hotter, and it's obviously not worth it, making the whole process pointless. If you lower clocks even by one ratio, you will get so much headroom for lowering voltages, which will all reflect in lower temps. It's only ideal to use the balanced LLC to get good stability with reasonable thermals

First of all you don't need to worry at all as it's totally safe to under volt, in fact it's even more healthy for the CPU longevity I think ur 360mm AIO could easily cool it than my 240mm used in this video It also surprised me that my cooler is able to handle it under every load without any issue Now, it's amazing how Intel CPUs can handle under volting, it's like a total whole different experience post tweaking My first suggestion is that you set high standards, always aim for the the highest possible clocks that are able to run stable at a temp range of 80-90c max under heaviest workload On mine I could go as low as 70c on 53 ratio but then I would feel that I actually paid for higher clocks and want to make the use of that so I feel the urge to raise clocks as much as possible with decent temps Also the 2 fast cores can handle higher ratio so you can increase them for higher single core performance In my opinion, based on ur cooling setup there's a good potential in optimizing ur 14700k, you can easily get decent clocks at max 80c, all u need is finding the sweet spot of voltage to ratio, I just shared the technique I know but each one could have different experience Also choosing the right load line calibration level plays a crucial role, I advise choosing the middle one you have on ur board to balance stability and thermals, I think on Asus boards it's level 5 Please feel free to give a follow-up on how it's going if you are attempting to tune it and we can go on with it 👍

@@TECHOSAUR I'm going to do what you said! thank you very much for your answer. If it is true that it makes no sense to lower the processor frequencies, you pay to have the maximum. But seeing it at 90 or even peaks of 100 degrees in some cores, worries me... If it is true that I play at 1440p with a 4070ti and the processor should be with less load, and not work much cpu. But still, it's hot. So far I've gone down to 5.2ghz stable and it's going better, with max power limit between 250w and 255w. Install CPU-Z. You can check its full specifications. Also, does the IHS say the name 14700K or KF? You also need to evaluate if it's thermal throttling, consequently getting such a low score. Did you leave the BIOS settings to default? Because I'm not sure if you have Intel Boosting on or off. If it's at the base clock, it's normal to get a low score.

Why undervolting gives better performance? I dont understand, higher frequencies mean higher performance, no?
@TECHOSAUR
@TECHOSAUR 5 ай бұрын
But we didn't compromise on frequency as well. I pushed all clocks while boosting the two fast cores to a higher frequency, all while undervolting. However, when you have a lower temperature, you will get consistently good performance, and that will reflect in the final score. While initially, with stock settings, it may boost higher, as soon as it thermally throttles, it will downclock itself hard. Still, voltages will be high to begin with, and it will never recover. With lower voltage, you will give it headroom to boost and stay consistently, offering optimum performance.

Make sure to download the chipset driver from your motherboard page, it's very important for windows to recognize your CPU and this greatly helps in fixing micro stuttering issues It's normal that sometimes XMP profile aren't stable, I also had similar experience and just reducing memory speed from 7200 to 7000 made it stable but also it's good that in this way u can manually tighten the memory timings like just a bit since we reduced speed a bit, just for copium 😆 It worked for me stable when I reduced the cas timings like at least 1 each Let me know if installing the chipset driver fixed ur stuttering problems, install all of them like Intel management engine and latest BIOS etc

You probably need to undervolt more. How much Vcore voltage offset did you change? Of course, if you change load-line calibration from auto to a middle level without undervolting, you will get higher temperatures.
