Hopefully that will happen but with the shortages making everything sell out as they come out of the factory, AMD may see no reason to reduce price even if the new Intel CPU beat them.

i dont think they will because if amd changes sockets then the 5000 series will be the last series for am4 which means even 3rd party prices will be high. similar to how core2quads held value for longer then they should have. Millions of people still have am4 socket boards with 1, 2, and 3000 series chips in them.

The 5600g is around 230 on sale rn, It lacks some level 3 cache, so it wont beat a 5600x, but it holds up fairly well

@@creeplyjoes8828 >old AIO cooler won't fit you always can use cheap adapters for any AIO cooler. if AIO manufacturer won't supply it chinese guys will. AMD X470 & X570 boards pretty likely will be scrap too. and even if they aren't Zen3D prices and availability is still a big question mark.

@@propersod2390 Is it though? It's not ARM based so it's not really competing with Apple Silicon at all; it's just using the same kind of core designations (performance vs. Efficiency) that apple is using. Otherwise it's not directly competing with them at all.

That's a great catch on Intel pushing benchmarks using Windows 11 while Windows 11 was having issues with AMD processors, especially since Intel's claimed performance advantage is right in the ballpark of the Ryzen performance loss. Intel might not actually take back the gaming performance crown - at least not unambiguously - now that the bug is fixed. Intel really lucked out with the timing on that bug.

intel chip was also set to have 241 watts and 2 sticks of ddr5 while ryzen was limited to 105 and given strange memory setup of 4 sticks 3200 mt/s

Out of all the tech companies, I trust Intel’s the least. I imagine they will take back the performance crown, but by a pretty slim margin and at extra cost and power. Meanwhile, 2 months after Alder lake hits the shelf will see 3D Zen …

Did you take a look at the slides from the Intel presentation? Their new CPUs were running at 241W w/DDR5-4400 while the AMD test bench was running at 105W w/DDR4-3200. And that's even worse when you consider the 8~10 performance penalty AMD had with the Windows 11 version used for testing. Intel's still using their shady tactics. They just became a lot better at hiding it.

As an AMD fan it’s nice to see good ole evil Intel back in the game again. Hopefully we won’t go back to the old K10/Bulldozer days with AMD getting absolutely curb stomped but some healthy competition is always a good thing.

hmm.....both companies are just a profit first companies. these companies are not inherently evil. If their processors are expensive and if the performance sucks, just buy a second hand cpu. u are now becoming someone who saves the environment. But i appreciate these companies that they bring some real competition to the market. but their processors are expensive. miss the ryzen 3 3300x days.

Even now, you've got the most widely used home computing operating system being designed to specifically perform efficiently on their upcoming CPU architecture while it actively hinders performance from the competition. My CPU never got past 75°C. Use an AIO cooler. They're so good. I use a Corsair H100i RGB Pro XT. My idle temps are around mid 30s and low 40s.

The way i see things is r5 3600 6 cores under 200$ then 5600g 299$ i5 ADL being at 250+$ 6+4 config... I don't think we'll get any new 6 cores for less than 200$ anymore

@@PartikleVT To be fair this type of stuff do not show up in 2 years of R&D but you clearly see a change in message and management with outsourcing manufacture, divide your company in 2 so your factories can produce for competition, even apple can come back to use intel factories for the chips, also AMD leading to more investment on R&D for new manufactoring processes. Meanwhile both companies can focus on what they are good, on on manufacturer and the other on design.

Next gen ryzen will 100% beat alderlake and probably for cheaper, but so will intel on their next rehash as well. There is no way ryzen next gen would release if they werent going to beat competition.

I already use Linux for my NAS and Servers, and Use could almost go over to Linux as Desktop when Gaming gets to a decent standard level for the gaming Industry. Linux is my daily driver now and I only use my Windows PC for high end gaming. Once all my games on Steam can run efficiently on Linux is the day I stop using Windows OS... at least at home. I still use Windows OS at work. 😩

I tested a KVM setup with Linux and Windows and passtrough on my GPU for the Gaming VM, but even with trying to hide the VM settings or pretend and spoof it I still got issues ... so this is the reason I can't go over to fulltime yet. I want FULL support for all on Linux, and the way its going now seems like I actually might get it sooner then 2025. #Proton

Yeah, but the problem with this video is that they threw so many new technical features at us with overly fast paced presentation that you had no time to process anything or read the things they were pointing. I had to pause the video all the time. They need to make a longer video that explains this new architecture features in a slower pace and in depth.

We all know ddr5 and pcie5 are the future, but first gen memory is always more expensive as clock speed always increase with memory. Remember when DDR 4 started at 2133, now at over 5000.

These innovations are certainly awesome for laptops and we can expect even more innovations to come as we've seen with Apple's latest SoC. It's also nice to see these improvements for the desktop and I'm curious to see how this will reshape the discrete graphics market which already has other innovations coming to it.

@UCKIvdAZ_ILHgj4e24tAhXWA thats not the only issue, financial CEOs like to play it safe. thats why 4c8t was the top of intel consumer for 10 years. they decided since amd couldn't beat them on per core and they could just price the server line into the sky it was fine. engineer based CEOs would have an understanding what could be done and actually try to push progress, which wouldnt be worth it to the financial CEOs

A good engineer knows and understands that if you don't make yourself obsolete someone else will. If you want too stay ahead you really continuously need to improve on your own products and not play it safe.

Intel mostly got stuck due to process issues that screwed them for several years. As much as people think it was purely "stagnating" for the sake of it, they were hiding much bigger issues that left them not capable of doing more. That's not to say they weren't happy to release small updates, but they almost certainly expected their issues to be fixed quickly and after a few years of small updates release the next big thing. This plan failed spectacularly. AMD made their progress as they went to a smaller and smaller process, this isn't a coincidence.

Another supplier that is on-par with AMD's offerings will increase the supply of high-end chips tremendously. Prices are very likely to drop, especially for whichever products lose to whatever the competition has in the same segment. However, I wouldn't expect the changes in pricing to happen right before Christmas, a season with traditionally extra high demand for practically all kinds of products.

It’s crazy. I built my first PC back in 2014 and I’ve never seen the CPU market like this and it’s exciting. I genuinely hope that Alder Lake ends up being what everyone hopes it’s going to be. I definitely think Intel is trying to be misleading with their testing, but I will try to remain hopeful. I moved over to Team Red last year, but I genuinely want to see actual competition in the market again.

With the huge increase in power requirements I worry that Alder Lake mobile chips will be DoA. Intel really needs to look at migrating to ARM architectures fast it's been 40 years plus on x86 architecture and it's clearly on its last legs!

PowerPC has been dead for almost 2 decades now. And POWER, as the name implies, uses a LOT of power. It performs better per Watt than Xeon, but I've never seen anyone even try to scale below 60W.

@SunsetNova You have no idea what you are talking about. The M1 is so good because it is made on TSMC's cutting edge 5nm node, which has at least 84% higher logic density vs TSMC 7nm, allowing the Firestorm core to have far more execution resources than x86-64 cores e.g ZEN3, while maintaining a reasonable size. In doing so the Firestorm core can run at a much lower clockspeed for the same performance and because power draw does not scale linearly with clockspeed, it allows it to be much more efficient.

I'm surprised his corsair sp2500's are still alive, mine blew the PSU in the sub. I managed to replace the part, it then blew again a few years later. They are awesome speakers and it sucks they don't have a line of successors.
