Wow this debate was amazing! Koreans are so smart, the opposition didn't deny the facts that meat consumption increases global warming, they used other facts and drawbacks on the tax to oppose it. Really professional!

I'm surprised the government party didn't say anything about "what other food can give us the nutrients we get from meat?" There are many options, such as yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts, beans, etc. A missed opportunity. Also, if "meat" does not include fish, they could've brought that up too as a replacement.

The given motion is interesting but I think they need to give more example that will make strong and give impact to their arguments

actually, even if the government decided to collect sin tax the opening team said that the government can use the amount of money from the sin tax to improve the environment and help the people in poverty but in my opinion, since the government is collecting sin tax there will be less demand for meat which means the amount of sin tax is very low and that amount of money isn't enough for the government to change/ improve the environment drastically. Also, when the government collects sin tax the poor people or people in poverty won't be able to afford the meat and they can get infected by illnesses due to the insufficiency of vitamin B12, niacin, vitamin B6, iron, zinc, and phosphorus. The social inequality gap is very big nowadays and there are more people that are poor and in poverty than the rich so if people that are in poverty get infected by that kind of illness it will have an increase in government spending which can also lead to the debt crisis, furthermore the government will not be able to cover the amount of money that will have to be spent in case of those illnesses with just the small amount of money that the government gets from the sin tax.

I think the deputy prime minister of the opening government ended the argument. they literally not banning the consumption of meat but atleast help the citizens as well as the environment to decrease the consumption of meat for all of us to have a better life. common sense should that as the price of meats gets higher the less citizens will buy. ofcourse they can literally buy meat but there. are. so many alternatives that has been proven effective and has the same nutrition just like what the meat had.

the opening opposition has no clear arguments, I think they trjed to impose to all of us that the meat is really needed but the deputy prime minister of the opening government clearly stated that they will not banned it instead decreases the consumption of meat due to its higher price
