Not that this is not impressive but I'm most impressed by the presentation here. So clear, comprehensible, and fluent and fast but slow enough, and the talking through at the same time as the demonstrations, without any hesitant "uh's" or "eh's". I'll bet they asked Loopop to demo Space X.

Congrats @Wes and the Intellijel team! Sounds incredible! I'd respectfully say that I think a standalone/non-euro version with USB MIDI would also be a nice addition to the Intellijel stable. Of course, one could also buy a skiff, a euro MIDI IO module and go about it that way as well but it'd be a lot more expensive as opposed to having it in a self-contained housing. I'm not sure how difficult it'd be to map the CV/gate functions over to MIDI output but anyways... a guy can dream!

I have now watched this a number of times. The closing comments on the strengths as an exploration tool vs. having a set idea you want to capture really sold me - ordered yesterday. Among other things it will be feeding an E370 with both tracks interacting with various combinations of the 4 oscillators and mix outs in myriad ways.

A great video as always! I had never considered this as a sequencer but as I build a small case I’m definitely finding myself interested. I’m hoping to find a good balance of immediacy, tactility, the ability to jam with it, and also happy accidents that come from more in depth exploration. This definitely seems to be aiming at that spot! Right now I’m using a beatstep pro which is great but I would love to be able to see the settings of knobs for melodies vs peering into the tiny screen.

@@intellijel I've seen it in the video but it still feels like an afterthought to me, especially with the other switches. Clearly you have the capacity to have independent faders and switches positions with the preset feature, so I feel like the device would benefit from being able to select which tracks are being affected by the faders directly. (still a rad device though, well done!)

What are you guys doing with 2 tracks? I don't understand. Not even 8 tracks of my Eloquencer is not enough. But 2? I hope this gets a midi expander and maybe a more tracks expander of some sort, to make more sense.
@aaronstj
@aaronstj 3 жыл бұрын
You can get a lot out of even one track by sequencing gates separately and using modulation to get movement between voices playing the same sequence. I'm not sure what I'd do with as many as two tracks.

can you accumulate two decoupled voices? so they both individually do it?
@danjelvantijnintellijel756
@danjelvantijnintellijel756 3 жыл бұрын
yes. accumulation happens per individual stage and separately per track. You can set the step size differently for each stage. via mod lanes, ctrl knobs or xyz inputs you can also reset or invert the direction of accumulators on trk1, 2 or both.

@@THIEFSOUNDS it is possible via Trk Output Swap. Basically you can use a mod Lane (or external mod source) and automate swapping of trk a and b outputs to happen after every 8 stages

Now this vs Vector. This ones cheaper, has more modulation sources but no midi(do not care) no chords(do not care) and mod out (do care). I wanted Vector for a long time but this one comes out of nowhere with amazing features. So I'm not sure anymore. I like to hands on approach of the Metropolix though.

Obviously not hardware, but this feels like a combo of Defective Records Software's M185 and Cyclic (collaboration w/ Mutable Instruments) sequencers. The latter of which allows for 8 different sequences (not just 2), each of which traverse the same note space, but allows for many different variations. Not nearly as many options as Metropolix, but very similar in concept. defectiverecords.com/cyclic and defectiverecords.com/m185
