What is Tommy's great moral protest against the NES/SNES Mini Classic consoles ? Are there demonic games that hurt families on either one ? I kind of doubt it. Nintendo Minis are $130 and the spending is over. No more costs, and it's hackable. The classics need to go away and keep away, and have Switch factories get hit by a meteor, for Amico to look good at near 300, and delayed to April or later in 2021. At least the costs go down ? Amico might outlive the too-expensive Atari VGS, with any luck the production delays will put Amicos under $200 fast. If and when Amico wins or loses, it will have given Nintendo an idea to court mobile game companies. If the Amico were to be a hit, Nintendo might pivot to buy or stomp out the small competitor. Expect AtariVGS videos to show up in weeks showing nicer games, folks. This maybe cools interest further in TT's console ?

But as you rightly pointed out, when you start both the testing and compliance stages of hardware, little things are going to need to be fixed, adjusted, redone in a slightly different way, etc. So in that regards, until we have all of our certifications in place (over 50 different ones from US/Canada/Europe UK), then we will be ready to go into production. We're probably about 20% completed with compliance testing. For example, things like our controller batteries have already been approved, etc. But also important to note that we have started purchasing long lead time components back in early November. Again, these are HUGE steps. You felt things like our back-end software and/or firmware may not be in a complete state. That is correct and very typical for a console such as ours (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo as well). We have a team of amazing people working for over 2 years on this stuff. Not just one or two... I'm talking about teams of people inside Intellivision as well as teams of people contracted outside Intellivision as well (again, very common practice). The online digital store (called Amico Game Shop) doesn't need to be "operational" to the general public until launch. Of course we are in constant testing as more features are added. And as firmware goes... that is always something that every company (especially Sony & Microsoft) are constantly updating almost weekly after the console is released. :) So again, nothing strange or behind there. The "backend" part of Amico is not what is causing delays. Just the fact that we can't visit places in China, we can't get together in the office as a team, lead times for components is backed up, shipping across the world is much slower, compliance approvals are backed up, supply chains are shifting constantly, etc., etc., etc... I could go on and on and on. Anyone thinking that COVID isn't causing us difficulties and challenges on many different levels just doesn't understand or realize the process of creating what we are creating. One last thing I wanted to correct that you said. You felt that we made the decision to tell people of our October delay too late. You mentioned it was about a month. That wasn't the case. We made the announcement on August 5th (and we did list a lot of the different reasons back then). August 5th was over 2 months before the initial release (Oct. 10). Also understand and appreciate that once the internal decision was made in early July, it took us a month to speak with retailers, distributors, manufacturers, licensors, component manufacturers, suppliers, etc. to come us with a new plan and timeframe AND THEN we had to shoot that hour long presentation... edit it together, etc. So there was no quicker time or way to announce when we did. It's also important to note that I was signaling that COVID was starting to set us back in February. So to that degree, I respectfully felt your commentary on that particular subject matter was unfair and inaccurate. Also note that back on August 5th I also clearly mentioned that if things get better (in regards to the pandemic) and everything goes smoothly... then our new date would be in April. Well, as I'm sure you're aware, things have actually gotten worse. Especially here in California where our home office is and where the machine is being created and initially built. I started signaling last month (when they announced the month long December California shut down) that it is going to cause us a lot more issues and challenges we were hoping we wouldn't be dealing with at this point. And I've been transparent about it every step of the way. I hope you can better understand the situation and timing. This will be my last post and response on this particular video as I do prefer having real life personal dialogue with folks... just like how you mentioned that you wanted to with Cyrus (which spawned this entire video). So hopefully you'll understand and appreciate that decision. I'm sure you'll start to see folks pick apart and misrepresent by paragraphs here... so again... I'll take your sound advice and will ignore the trolls and move on. Thanks again for the respectful discussion with Cy. UPDATE, sneaky thread post by TT ? He suggests that with a lockdown order, a delayed release is near-certain. I just love how proud they were of the led lights which I honestly think would be more distracting. I mean with the PS4 controller it's not too distracting ( can turn light off if you want, but I like to keep to know the controller is on lol) and some games use it to their advantage. Having it on the console to only turn it off makes me feel it's a waste of money.

@@TheCommanderTaco You can't turn the Dualshock 4's light off without modification; only dim it. Maybe you can on PC though; I'm not sure.

@@inputfunny pretty sure there is a setting on the PS4 that allows you to turn it off but I don't remember as I only looked once lol. Will update the comment once I get a chance to recheck. Though my initial point is the light has a purpose, and even if you don't have it on it dosen't feel like a waste of money. Unlike having the lights on the console turned off, and that being part of what I paid for lol. On the ps4 the light on the controller is positioned in a way it does not interfere with your field of view and the light on the console is barely noticeable but serves to let you know the console is on. *update: so it is only a drop down menu that gives the option to dim lol. Don't know why I remembered it as having an option to turn off the light.

From their last video ( the amico gameplay) i still could not tell if the stuntman game was the mobile version or theirs ( as it had "tap to start"). I mean so far the quality of games they have shown are games I could play on a $40 tablet lol.

@@Cueya the thing with the Amico ( which can be considered a double edged sword) is it's supposed to be family friendly which i have no complaints about as a plug n play that you can buy additional games for. Having youtube and even youtube kids, netflix, etc i can see making that mission impossible. If Tommy were to charge about $100 ( which is still kinda pushing for me lol) I could see this having a chance especially as a family alternative to storing a bunch of physical board games and such, but as it stands now a tablet has more to offer price wise and functionality wise lol.

I mean, I think the "exclusives" have been in doubt for quite some time (as some "exclusives" were already available on other platforms).

I do have to say - I agree dont want to look at my controller, or have my console do a light show -- but this was my exact critique of the Mario Kart AR racing game they just made -- I am looking at my Switch, i dont want to look at a car driving around my living room -- if i want to watch the kart (and not see enemies!? or power ups?), they make better RC cars for that already. Slot cars even. Pat and Ian didn't point that out at all...They thought it was cool to have a game and shit going on behind the couch while they play. Its literally just as stupid. Yeah a friend can watch, but they wont want to do either (watching Mario Kart with no enemies or context wont be fun at all). Just pointing out a bit of difference in what they critique sometimes.

And the only defense Ive heard of the AR so far is "but you drive your living room", wow that's so boring. It will be fun for once or twice, but the game Mario Kart 8 on Switch literally has dozens of wonderful tracks already. That is not a feature that saves the Mario Kart thing - its a gimmick. They are both gimmicks. But when Nintendo does it....

@@OM19_MO79 Yep. You ought to check out the "Ouya Saviours". We preserved around 97% of the library before the shutdown and created a community server, run entirely independently from Razer. I've written two games for the system after the shutdown which you can download from the Ouya store. The Ouya is much more than an emulation box, even today :) *If* the amico ever does become a reality, I very much doubt there'd be an active community after an inevitable shutdown of the servers. It'll just fall to the wayside like the GameStick console.

Triple Action was an 8K game that included Tanks, Biplanes, and a simple overhead racing game. Even Mattel in 1981 thought that those games were too limited to sell separately and bundled them into one cartridge. Only Tommy in 2020 thinks these games are now full games that can be sold separately.

The only thing that ties the foot massager to the Intellivision is a terrible rendition of Astrosmash, Snafu and the logos. He's stated that real INTV games won't be ready at launch. This doesn't even rank as an emulation machine, is three $5 old phones you could get in a garage sale in a tacky case with hundreds of LEDs. I'm pretty sure you could get LED strips that do the exact same thing from AliBaba.

@@Cueya Not quite. The iPod's wheel was capacitive with digital switches. This is either optical like a mechanical mouse or just a mock up above a resistance touch pad. It could also be an arranged digital number pad from an old Symbian phone or an early Android phone.

@@Cueya I bet it's not even 16-way. Looking at the videos, it looks like a pivoting jog wheel with 4 switches beneath (possibly 5 for the center button, it's an old phone after all).

@@Cueya That's how it looks like in the videos so far. The jogwheel could work with paddle games but considering you already have gyros and a touch pad, it's pretty much an overkill. This thing will only have mobile games, so they don't really need analog controls as in a console. I really don't know what could be the advantage with any of this. At least with the VCS, you can add your OS and games you already own.

That's only useful for subtle highlights that may end up looking nice. You need lots of LEDs when you're after the obnoxiously bright look.

@@mattheweking82 It has a dual-core Ryzen. It's not a raspberry pi. For a mini-PC it's not bad at all with 3 4K video pipelines for streaming games (as well). The VCS powerful than a Switch certainly. Although it can run Windows in Sandbox, it's a great platform for many Linux distros (which is how I'm going to use it - I'm migrating from MacOS to Linux whole-hog). Is it for everyone or the 'best' - nah. But it's capable and is nice for the price. Certainly better than a Mac Mini at 3x the cost. Oh, and it's real (the last report was waiting for one part for the classic controller - the first units are done - and it was demoed hands on with people in NY in the first quarter).

It's pretty obvious that money was received by certain actors on Atari age, the shilling in the amico thread was astounding, ~5 people spamming and attacking any non-shill participants.

It is more powerful than the tegra switch SoC (nintendo can make anything work, including power hungry ARM SoCs that nintendo gets almost for free due) and the atari can at least be used as a normal, small form factor PC.
