Category 4 Hurricane Michael from the eastern tip of Panama City Beach, FL as I went mobile to try and reach the eye, but was prevented from doing so safely by projectile debris and crossing the bridges.

Please refer to my website www.ciclicoahuila.com for info. on my mission and lifestyle. I teach people here in Mexico, for free, how to find, harvest, and conserve water to cope with climate change induced drought. No, I don´t drive. Yes I use electricity. That is an unfortunate tradeoff to get my message out. !Saludos desde Mexico! old geologist ;-)

@MALP12315 жыл бұрын
Actually, it IS the wind. Ponder this: in a tornado or hurricane, if a person were catapulted by the wind, it would be a precarious situation, even if there were no debris. And the reason is simple: what goes up, must come down. And when a person comes down, they will hit - terra firma, a fire hydrant, a fence, a building, a telephone pole, asphalt, concrete, and a myriad of other objects - all of which could seriously injure/kill someone, upon impact. There doesn't need to be any debris in the air. But, even if the only debris were sand, it would cause tremendous injury, and even death. During the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane, people died from the injuries that were incurred from just being sand-blasted. As for the "dominator", it has limitations. Tornadoes can pick up train box cars, and trailers from 18 wheelers. They can pick up huge objects, and fling them through the air like toys. If one of those objects were to hit the "dominator", the occupants would be crushed like a tomato. The "dominator" is not impervious to the power of mother nature.

Chiming in, now 3 years later, that then-Texaco was at the corner of Cherry St. and US 98 in Callaway, in eastern Panama City. My parents lived only a mile away from that station. We lost contact that morning around 10 am, when Michael was still a Cat 2 or 3. We saw where it hit as a Cat 5 and feared the absolute worst. You can't imagine the joy we felt when they finally got a hold of us the next morning when they finally got cell service just before I-10.

1:36 reminds me of Irma. It was unreal. My dad grew up experiencing strong storms and hurricanes. There's sort of this rule in my family that if my dad isn't worried, we have nothing to be scared of. He's a smart man. And he keeps his cool in dire situations. He was a commercial fisherman for years and grew up on an island that frequently experiences hurricanes and major storms and flooding. During Irma, he was concerned. He said he'd never seen anything like it. And if news reports and stats were correct, Michael was even worse. I can't imagine that. We thought 9 foot storm surges were had. Michael was projected to cause 14+. That's insane.

Freaking Weather Channel was in Mexico beach but Stephanie Abrams woosed out and pulled her whole crew and ran to PCB to be with Cantore. I'm sure he wouldn't have left had he been there. I haven't looked yet but I'm sure there will be some coming online if not by now. I'd rather watch the pros because I chase as well when I'm not slammed with running a business. I would've been there for sure. If she could get out of Mexico beach then you could get in. It's a bit of a ball drop if you ask me. I know it's dangerous but the people want to see the worst of the storm. Not the edges and certainly not the West side of the eyewall. It's fine to cover it but have the eye making landfall covered as well. At least as long as you can still transmit.

Phenomenal wind speed ferocity. Hope y'all are wearing motorcycle helmets, to protect your brain and eye sight. Maybe add some body armor for good measure, protecting vulnerable internal organs.
