My word that is a spectacular culmination of art all under one roof. I must say, that dressing room with the bathroom is probably the same square footage as my entire house, lol....I have a teeny, tiny (munchkin) house. teehee. Lee x

You missed my favourite space - it was the Salon that was adjacent to the dining area. It was spectacular with the silvery whites and had a very luxe new york feel. It was my first time there with a friend and I plan on going back next year. Thanks for sharing -brought me back to those great memories.

The house (usually a property that is up for sale) is loaned for the exhibit. Top designers each get a room to decorate, and the labor is mostly done for free or at the designer's expense. The furniture and art is on loan as well. There is an admission price which goes to "Kips Bay," and wealthy people come to the house and make huge donations to the organisation, while interior decorators, antique dealers, art dealers, craftsman, etc., get to advertise their wares for future clients. After the exhibit, everything is taken down, and the furniture is returned to their respective shops. Everyone wins. BTW, Each year, they do the show in a different empty house.

The design is great, but doesn't it seem strange that there is a place whose goal is raising money for children and they are sitting on a piece of property worth $50 million. Especially when the total amount they've raised over nearly a century of being in existence is less than half of that?

It is so easy to point fingers and take the "moral high ground" with such an obvious target. But I wonder what you would really do if you were the one with all that money? I know....most would immediately reply with the ol' party line of "give it to the poor" or something similar, but if you examine your heart and are truly honest I think the battle cry of the proletariat would begin to fade just a bit, don't you? Here is a statistic for all you who are raging against the dying of the light....in the years since LBJ began the war on poverty, BILLIONS have been poured into innumerable useful sounding programs and the currant statistics show that the percentage of poor in this country has been virtually unchanged by ALL that money. Isn't that odd?

Light and airy and simple, vanilla, vanilla, vanilla. I need color. The red lacquer fireplace was quite lovely but the room was stark. When everything is so creamy it just looks generic whether it’s expensive or not. Sheep may safely graze. Put on some Madonna. Please. Katy Perry too!

3 points for Groves & Co... as to the rest of the "designs"... I think I prefer design for poor people... poor people know moderation...moderation is chic.... it might have costed $50M..but it is just tacky..and they top it off with "plastic" grass on the balcony..i guess the budget was over.. it's hillarious

Wow! What was it about this video, that triggered so many GOODIE-TWO-SHOES NARCISSISTS? Do you really think that people will pay to go and see something drab, plain, mingy, timid, and BORING? Of course it's opulent! That's the whole purpose of decorator SHOWHOUSES. Kips Bay helps a lot of kids, by the way. And Toots, I hardly think you're in any position to be an arbiter of whether or not an interior in THE leading New York City decorator showhouse is "dated".
