0:47 reminds me slightly of the middle section of Chopins wrong note etude 😂

Wow i like it Denis ! Very high level of playing. That said there is still room for making it better in interpretation. Some of the pianissimo triplets you played rather mezzo forte and i think that's because you kept the tempo stable but i think this piece is highly romantic and you can go even much more Rachmnaninov like rubato where you shape much more according to the music and sometimes significantly slow down which makes those pianissimo easier to play. I think the middle section should be played a little more dreamy and slow.

Sure, next time it could be completely different. Doesn’t mean it would be better though, because what you would perceive as an improvement, somebody else could treat as a loss of taste and unnecessary cheesiness. For example, I enjoy listening to Rachmaninoff, however when people attempt to play like that nowadays they usually fall into something like late Pogorelich or Gavrilov style.

@@DenZhdanovPianist I agree, it's all subjective but historically based on when the piece was written, it makes such deviations legitimate. Nowadays it is frown upon but i do believe there is a difference between cheesiness and Rachmaninov doing huge rubatos (and especially the reaccelerating part is what few pianists master) and sounding completely natural. It's an aesthetical skill. But even in his days some pianists like Pachman overdid it and entered these kind of mesmerized dream moment etheral playing which would be seen as loosing it today. The tendency of the day is certainly toward classical interpretation with minimum stylistic risks, and that is a bit of a pity.

It sounds like the howls moving castle theme was inspired from this piece.

I'm not hearing that at all to be honest, other than the fact that both pieces are waltzes. Harmonically and melodically they're nothing alike.

@@VasiothStarting from measure 8 it’s very harmonically close and motifs of the melody are close. They be in different keys from each other but to my ear I hear it.

You both are right, the pieces are quite different, but actually a melody shape and ii7-V7-i harmonization really rings a bell.
