----
WHO IS JIANG YU SHAN:
Jiang Yu Shan (Hisham Al-Haroun) has lived 30 years in Taiwan practicing Kung Fu and Qigong. He is most notably known for being the master of the monkey style but he is also a master in Tai Chi, Bagua Zhang, Wing Chun, Xin Yi Ba and Wu Zhu Quan.
Jiang is a 33rd generation Shaolin disciple and has been nominated 9th Dan (or “Duan”) in Chinese Kung Fu. In addition, he comes from a wrestling family and is well-rehearsed in other martial arts such as catch wrestling (he has a good relationship with the notorious CACC Snake Pit in Japan).
Not only that, Jiang also worked as a special forces (CMC.SCC) drill instructor for over 10 years teaching hand-to-hand combat, tactical raid, entry team tactics, knife fighting and hostage rescue to Taiwanese special ops. Before that he was an army paratrooper in the German military where he got his initial military education.
Due to his respected status in Taiwan’s society and his high expertise in self-defence, he has served as a bodyguard for several Taiwanese presidents and presidential candidates. A foreigner working as a bodyguard for a president is extremely rare and unheard of in almost any country in the world.
To test his martial arts skills and proficiency in practice, Jiang has competed in various kickboxing, Sanda, MMA and Karate competitions, winning 7 gold medals. His biggest victory was winning the All Japan Karate MMA competition 2016 in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 45.
Jiang has 40 years of training in Kung Fu and has operated as a respected teacher since he was in his twenties. Now, he is a grandmaster who comes from very rare and pure lineages of Kung Fu and Qigong. This is why his teachings are not only very unique but also more effective than many of the commercial forms of Qigong or Kung Fu you see today.
It’s our privilege and honour to showcase his skills to the broader audience. Enjoy!

VAHVA. What is your teachers opinion on big muscles and then doing internal styles. Many teachers say muscle leads to tension and stops the flow of qi , so if training internal ubcant do weights or press up etc

As a student of Kung Fu I an a Tang Lang practitioner and I really appreciated the in depth history lesson and the explanation of how you start with the foundation and branch out into various expressions of that style or system. I myself came to that same conclusion during my studies but I equate it to a vehicle in that your foundation is like your cars engine or nervous system of your body and everything else is the external extension of that. You can have the external parts of a Ferrari but without its engine it's not as useful just pretty. As internal martial artists you are sort of like your own mechanic being aware of how each part functions, if you don't take care of one part it leads to troubles to the others and so on. Anyways I would love to hear both of your impressions of this idea of mine. I'm no master and frankly not that great at it myself but I have these insights.

According to the reference I read, the Dai Family's Kung Fu is called Xin -Yi Quan (心意拳), which literally means "Heart-Mind Fist". The Kung Fu Lee Luo-Neng developed based on the Dai Family's Kung Fu is called Xing-Yi Quan (形意拳) which literally means "Shape-Mind Fist". Xin -Yi Quan (心意拳)was firstly invented by a master called Ji, long-feng based on a manual written by a warlord called Yue-fei (March 24, 1103 - January 28, 1142). Ji then shared Xin -Yi Quan (心意拳) with the Shao-lin monks. The monks then modified his kung fu and called this modified version as Xin-Yi Ba (心意把), which as master Jiang Yu-shan said is known as the most powerful and the highest ranking martial art of the Shao-Lin Temple.

Thank you very much for this, because since your first video about Kung Fu on this yt channel, when I saw these moves which are completely different than what I had seen before in my whole life, I was so impressed and shocked and I immediately saw unbelievable potential in those moves, even as an observer with no experience in fighting/martial arts practice, I mean the energy behind those moves and the explosiveness and so much more, that I immediately started to search for anything that would have even just pieces and would be in at least some way similar to what is in your Kung Fu videos here, trying to put it all together, first as an observer myself, to connect the dots, even as an enthusiast or maybe a person passionate about #movementculture in general, and, to be honest, I have been searching for more and more interesting examples of such moves from the martial arts world ever since, pretty much every single day [or night!], kinda relentlessly trying to figure out even like the main principles/mechanics, even just by observing first, before the practice, and all I can say is that it has been a REALLY fascinating journey so far, you know - like autodidactics through observation first, maybe later imitation, etc., I hope - and then with every single next Kung Fu video here [and the absolutely hard to believe #timing..] I was getting more and more interested in understanding these methods as another way/means/tool thanks to which I can become a better and better version of myself in general, a better person, a better being.. and.. all I really want to say is.. Thank you! Thank you for doing what you do, because it has and is influencing my life in a very very positive way and it helps me understand and try to imagine how much there is that I actually don't understand or know! And this is very precious, because it sets a person in a very good position to actually start learning :) Thank you! Very inspiring, very motivating, very humbling! I will never forget that after all these years, finally, I began my journey with martial arts thanks to you and your videos! Love&Light! Misha from #parkouredukacja

The ultimate purpose of internal kung fu comes down to this: It enables one to transcend his/her physical limitations - meaning a smaller or weaker built person can overcome opponents who are physically much heavier and stronger. We do this by tapping into and utilizing a different system of power and body mechanics that today's science hasn't really looked into. And to develop this internal system in you, you have to become aware of your body and mind, getting in touch with the core of your being - your Jing, Qi, Shen as coined by Daoists. This is why as you get further into the practise, it becomes much more than just a fighting skill, and it transform you in incredible ways. That said, the fighting skill needs to be always there in order to truly go down this path, and internal force and its effects can be expressed and tested. Hardening is one aspect of internal strength or Neizhuang, but it's different to Neijin, internal force. When it comes to internal force for combat, the basic three energies need to be present: long energy, listening energy, and short energy. There are of course the highest level energies like light energy and all-sensing energy, as described by internal scriptures, but after seeking out masters in China during my 10 years living there, and having watched hundreds of videos of internal practitioners demonstrate their abilities, I've still yet to see anybody display the highest level. This is one of the important reasons I've started to make videos myself, to showcase the 3 internal forces mentioned, so that seekers of the internal path can engage and exchange to potentially work toward the higher level together.

I can tell you right now. Martial arts was striving before the Qing Dynasty came along, and things started to go down hill for a few hundred years. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, people started to notice that their ways are obsolete so they made up stories of them beating mainly Japanese opponents without ever thinking about changing. Now only few styles are actually effective

One thing I like about this guy he's a realist the real thing in the street giving you the the realistic approach... it's like when I travel to Colombia in South America and to meet people who try to challenge you with Kung Fu who don't really know it they do fancy kicks but what if somebody's keeps you out from the other leg and put you down on the ground and then they're on top of you that's something I learned over there really quick some people like to challenge you just because you're a foreigner but like he said you don't want to take it too far ahead you do that people will disrespect you cuz you're not part of their people or culture... but it is a dangerous country I spent nine years going back and forth of there and I did learn their language and I still speak it today Spanish is pretty easy I think but a lot of people can't learn it it's hard to read and write it for some people it wasn't that hard for me I think that coming to a Crossroads in my life where I start to see the things that I need at 51 but I didn't ever think I'd be in this kind of shape I've never drank and smoked ...

That's because if you live in the United States your learning to earn a trophy... you're learning it to defend for yourself and your life and your loved ones it's about your ability to take care of yourself your Independence to take care of who you love does it make a difference what level he's on or what right he thinks to do anything people come on here for the dumbest things I can't believe the way they come across things like 12 year olds the man offers Solace or Solitude in the mind for what he wants to teach and then he gives you a gift here... I appreciate the fact that he let everyone know that he had a career before he had this life and he continued on what please him and how he continued to help others to be more independent and prep themselves and prep from their lives in a way that they can feel protected in their own self there agility and abilities... I think we should be are willing to search for the inner self for that kind of Peace because we live in a world of this evil pursuance of greed... especially here in the USA where is like a rat race just to see where you can make money to do certain things in life it's important to me to see these kinds of things I don't understand where you can do something for yourself this is what it should be about not about boasting one thing over another it's sad to see people come on here not appreciate what he's doing....

When I was in martial arts here and you start out here in karate or whatever Taekwondo they try to keep you in a long. Of time $$ of your training and training in training but by the time you get to where you're going and it's in the same thing about trophy..and then people say what if you learn the things this guy's teaching you do end up killing somebody that's not true! because when I went to Colombia., I learned what Kung Fu was and I had already had Street technique coming with me so when I find somebody with a fancy kick you got their other leg. Or sweep.. that they got to stand on to get that fancy kick up there you just got to be able to see it coming.. I'd say you got to be ready for anything that's why I like studying under someone like this who thinks that way I would say it's a mindset survival that's what martial arts was designed to be in the first place because you haven't had oppressive governments who got in the way of the people that were there and disarm them and then you say had no other choice but to have some sort of martial arts to defend themself if people lost sight of that and think this is a game... it's not some video game this is real life and this man offers the way out of the world that we see on a television or on KZfaq to the real thing that you have to learn in life to be prepared for anything give you enough discipline to walk you through different points of your life and that's where I'm at now at 51 I think it's important to be like that.. this is my observation...

Chinese masters have a "chinese style" pedagogy, which is why you may not understand the way they convey information to you. Westerners are in the speculative way and wait for everything to be explained to them - and I don't think that was even the case in ancient Europe (ex : companionship) - The masters of the traditional style have remained in the ancient transmission : it is the meaning of "traditional" ... A true master knows what the disciple needs to know, and it is for the latter to develop on this basis, and to find by himself, because only an experienced knowledge is a TRUE knowledge (in French : knowledge= Co-naissance = to born with) ... So if you don't understand this pedagogy you can believe that "he hides"... He hides nothing to you that you cannot already find by yourself... What is more, why the masters would want to cover up secular disciplines which disappear for lack of dedicated practitioners ? (practicing neijia for 18 years, Baguazhang, Shi ji Dong direct lineage)

External focuses on external conditioning, such as bone hardening, body building, stamina. Internal focus on mental works, such as concentration, similar to witchcraft. Moving Qi Gong is lower level of static Qi Gong meditation which is pure mental work. I consider reflex training such as speed bag to be Internal, it conditions neuron system. Kendo is also internal as Zen is integrated part of Kendo to develop super reflex.

On the internal vs external comparison, I have been doing martial arts since the late 1980's. I have dabbled in a lot of systems. I have had a lot of teachers. In comparison, the internal and external styles share most of all the same qualities (relaxation, softness, alignment etc...). Even most of the body mechanics are shared. The ONLY difference I can see, is that the internal arts include the Dantien in its bio mechanical power generation. This is accomplished in either an expansion/contraction, accordion like motion, or in a compressing/coiling, explosive release kind of power generation. It can also be done in the upper back. That's it. Everything else is present in everything.

I think it is related to our western mindset to judge martial arts for its practicality on "smashing peoples face",specially with this UFC fever going on. You really dont need to be versed in martial arts to punch someone in the face, its helps but its not required. And to think that you pratice MA just to punch someone is reducing thousands of years of tradition, all the non combative benefects of MA to something that isnt really the point of it.Not everyone train to be a killing machine, some people just want to follow the "do" part of a MA.

If one wish to challenge, don't bring camera. Challenge them in private. Esse quam videri... To be rather than to be seen. If one wish to test themselves, they did it not for the purpose so others can see it. With the culture this so called social media era, many people do things only to be seen not to be. Challenge with respect. To be martial artist than to be seen as martial artist. Thank you for sharing your Kungfu sir, I very much obliged. Gin,

The blonde one has minimal interview skill. Observation; do not interject. A written list of questions should be followed. Please use split screen instead of switching back and forth. There is no interest in the interviewer.
