in the obsessive research phase...can't adopt until I'm married 3 years for most of the countries...hoping for a younger child so Korea seems the best fit but I love the idea of a less developed country. And korea's prevalence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder scares me. I'd take on a lot of other special needs before I'd voluntarily accept that one :/

South Korea have child-factories, they made childselling into an industry. They coerce young women to sell their infant. Korea have money, and the child have parents. The women regret that they sold their child and it still causes deep trauma and generational trauma in the korean society. You ll be contributing to that. THe Korean society is deeply malechauvinistic that do not support single parents. SO you ll be supporting that industry. Purest form of CHILDTRADE. Of course the korean president think its ok, to change the child if youre not happy with it. Feel free to abuse that child! This is truly atrocious that ppl even think about purchasing a korean child in this modern society. Disgusting.

She has her experience and it's okay to express, but there are some healthy international children. Sometimes healthier than an adult.

My ex-bf was selected by his adopted parents in a Thai->US adoption which is a partner or convention country. His 5 other adopted brothers were also selected by his adopted parents. So it seems the first answer you made is wrong. I think what you meant to say was not "No" but rather, "It depends" from my understanding its a country by country basis, some don't allow choosing the child and some do. (Note all 6 adoptions were made over the course of the about 1990-2005, so unless the treaty was modified recently this is the case)

That's amazing! Thanks for sharing. You might be right. We've since changed to the China program, where we did have the opportunity to choose our child, but as a part of a "waiting children" list (special needs). Those without special needs are part of a lottery system...so I suppose all countries are different.

Do you know if there is a way for an American to adopt an Italian child if I have dual citizenship? Or as an ordinary American without dual citizenship?
