The future really is here. In this video we run through a How to Setup STARLINK and run some Speed Tests to give you an idea of the average performance on the aussie east coast. We used this from the Gold Coast to Cape York with great results, it really is a viable alternative to internet connectivity when you're mobile coverage is poor or non existent. ⏩ What's with the gloves?
Not after any KZfaq fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing - easy to spot my videos! If that's not your thing and you'd prefer to watch a face, all good, I won't be offended, there's plenty of better looking ones to watch already on KZfaq ;)
⏩ Where did this start?
I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)
⏩ What will you find here?
The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)

Hey when you are not in the range of a ground gateway station the satellites use the inter-satellite laser links to relay to a satellite that is within range of the ground gateway.

We’ve just crossed the Nullarbor and now touring Southern WA. Have been using Starlink all the way and our Foxtel Go has been streaming the footy in 4K without a hickup. Love it. I have it permanently wired into my caravan 12v system and it draws about 4 amps when running. Can you provide a link to the bag please, I didn’t see one. Cheers, Robbo.

@@VideoShowMeHow Hard wired Adam. There is a three piece kit on Amazon consisting of a 12v to 48v transformer, a power over internet module, and a network connection. It should be easy to find on Amazon, but let me know if you can’t find it. I then have a network cable plugged in which runs to my wifi router inside the van, hence we have wifi to all of our devices, including the telly. Works a treat.

I should have been clearer, I don’t use the Starlink router, just my own Rvwifi router

Depends, the mobile unlimited subscription is 170 odd at the moment. The equip varies as they have deals every now and again, this was $500 at the time, but have seen cheaper now as they're moving to the V3 dishy

Yeah I only turn it on for big trips, you can enable and disable the plan month to month

I have to say that I love the ‘space internets’! We went to the Cape just after you got back (we were hoping to catch up with you but, oh well) and found it to be the best thing since sliced bread…who knew? Why on Earth would you pay for sat phone when this multipurpose gadget is available? Not only can you talk to your Grandchild on the phone, you could see her as well (bugger the kids…did I say that out loud?). It may even save your life! Now who do I contact in marketing for my retainer…anybody…anybody?
