Before we can jump on board to depend on this idea safely, the World need to do these following things: 1. Kill corruption. 2. Eliminate crimes. 3. Everyone has access to education and has a right for education. 4. Everyone has access to travel travel services. 5. Everybody stops smoking, drinking alcohol, and using any kinds of drugs. 6. End greed, lust and selfishness.

All these thing you listed people will never give up. Government breeds corruption, no matter how utopian you 'think' you can make it. Everybody in the US has the opportunity for further education but only a fraction of the country goes to college. Alcohol and tobacco are both extremely profitable and addictive, not to mention prescription drugs being advertised on every TV station you can watch, and pharmaceuticals are one of the most profitable markets in the world. You will NEVER convince people to stop taking their happy pills. And to think people, especially westerners, will willingly give up greed, lust and self-centeredness.... this is what makes the west the west. Get used to it.

some process facilities such as oil processing facilities actually use an internet of things to remotely monitor the process without even having to be within the facility (they can monitor whether something at the facility needs to be fixed from the comfort of their home. however there will always be someone in the control room for safety reasons).

When it comes to automotive security, I'd much prefer the engineers leave the entertainment and infotainment system connected to the wi-fi, but leave the engine computer separate entirely. This makes the car completely unhackable (unless someone gets physical access to the car). When it comes to updating the car's firmware, they can do it during maintenance checkups. That's easy enough.

Would have liked to see some debate around privacy and product downgrades. While having everything connected to the Internet and cooperating sounds exciting, it exposes our personal life and private information to new threats. There is also an issue with letting manufacturers push updates to firmware and software on devices, as they could potentially remove features that were present at the time of purchase. You can say "They would never do that", but it has happened before. Just take a look at Grand Theft Auto: Sand Andreas. While this isn't a physical device, the game has received updates via Steam that removes in-game content, and even re-introduced old game breaking bugs.

Firmware updates to cars have been a thing for a while, although only pretty recently has it been wireless. If you take your car in for a service part of the service usually is checking the error codes through the OBD2 port and if there are firmware updates you install them.

That really depends on the car, some things would be quite substantial, giving better fuel efficiency and such, but for the most part it would just be minor tweaks.

The main thing I don't like about the Internet of things is the possibility of hacking into these things and destroying the system, I have seen what people can do right now with things you can buy or things many people own, and it is already dangerous enough, but if you add in even more things that could kill/maim people with and things that are connected, it wouldn't be pretty. Note: this is my paranoid side talking and my knowledge of this stuff is limited to a few videos and some research online, and remember that if cyber security gets better and better (which it should) this won't be a huge deal to me, but with security now and these concepts it kind of scares me a bit.

@ArchinaGM

work will still exist but it will mostly be on either the creative side or the more scientific side. labour jobs can all be automated and once we go far enough we could even have self-maintaining/repairing machines. People wouldn't just give you food, shelter and luxuries for free so when automation threatens to take your job you'd need to find a different way of earning money.

Alexej Mitin They cannot. Machines are uncapable of thinking. All they can do is run some complex algorithms that will question diffrent things. But they are uncapable of thinking very deeply . As for saying a machine could never find existance of god. It would not be able to find big bang theory. And most important of all it would never be able to catch up with creativity of humans as a machines intellligence can only be as good as the one that codes it.

@Navhkrin
@Navhkrin 9 жыл бұрын
Alexej Mitin Yes but when making music it does not think "this sounds beatiful" or "this sounds ugly". It just uses the prebuilt algorithm's that were originally made by humans. If left alone no computer is capable of writing 'beatiful music algorithm' by itself as it is incapable of understanting what fun means in first place

Way I see it the only way humans will be able to compete with technology is if we can find some way in the future to enhance ourselves with tech. For instance a microchip to work as a permanent near perfect storage for our brains. Eventually people might be so close to technology that we stop seeing the distinction.
