Some say the Bible forbids interracial marriage. Here's WHY they say it and WHY they are wrong. I'm still in the middle of making a series of videos on marriage, divorce and remarriage and since this particular question didn't really fit well into one of those videos I thought I'd make a stand alone video on it. I actually did some research to find out what passages of scripture people used to try to support a ban on interracial marriage (also called anti-miscegenation) and I'm responding to those particular passages and talking points in this video.
Here's my full and in-depth teaching on divorce and remarriage in the Bible. • Divorce and Remarriage...
This is my teaching on a biblical understanding of wive's submitting to their husbands • "WIVES SUBMIT" - What ...
This is my teaching on how to be a husband according to the Bible. • "How To Be A Husband" ...
Subscribe to get new videos every week and learn to think biblically about everything.

Funny how in Revelation God ends up collecting His family from all over the world of every race ,tribe and tongue. Multicultural Kingdom. And I don't see a verse for any of that mess you're saying. @Jan Pearson No, God didn't want Israel to mix with other countries because of Idol worship. Psalms 106:38 (KJV) And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. As Mike Winger said God defended Moses for marrying Zipporah(Numbers 12). He also approved of Samson's first marriage. Judges 14:2-4 (KJV) And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well. But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. No, I'm talking about Delilah because he didn't meet her yet. Read Judges chapter 16. The woman that he was engaged to her name was never mentioned in the bible. Joseph married Asenath who was Egyptian Genesis 41:45 (KJV) And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. If you read the book of Esther you'll know that she married King Xerxes who was Persian.

There is debate because according to creation, there shouldn't be any human gene mutation but we do see existing ones within each racial group that contradicts the homogeneity of creation, not to say the list, we don't know if extraterrestrials played a role in the sequence of human gene alteration. All due to the fact that about thousands of years ago, Mongolian immigration all over Asia and the Americas have portrait no gene alteration as to what's observed from Europe to Africa. Such that the Incas DNA still portraits Mongolian sequences that are trace all the way to Japan

It's sad to me how many people who claim to be believers marry outside of the faith... so many women who spend years attending church by themselves because they thought they could change him and then what happens? Almost always he never turns to Christ and their kids reject the faith aswell... this is where the verse in Deuteronomy applies today. If you think marrying someone who is not a believer is no big deal it is not Christ you are following but your own heart.

Absolutely. I watched other women who had unequally yoked marriages and vowed I would not do that...but I turned 27 and came off a failed engagement to a Christian man, heard my bio clock tic and the next man who took an interest became my unequally yoked husband! It is so important to listen to God and deny yourself. He has been a Christian 3 yrs now but we've been married 10 yrs! I can't help but wonder if much of our head butting could have been prevented if I had let God work a little longer before marriage.

@@kimwilson2514 The great thing is that we serve a God who redeems, so there are many stories like yours of God redeeming an unequally yoked marriage by using the believing spouse to bring their other half to himself. It is unfortunate though that some people (men and women) use those examples as a way to tell themselves that they can marry a non-believer because it will work out in the end.

I am a long-time supporter of Thru The Bible ministry and listen everyday, and here's what the (late) founder J. Vernon McGee says on this subject (paraphrased, of course): Ladies [it could apply to Christian men dating an unsaved woman but I think that scenario happens less often], if you cannot lead your young man to the Lord during your dating days when he's so eager to please you, what makes you think he will become a Christian AFTER you're married??? When Dr. McGee was a pastor, he would not perform weddings between "mixed" (saved/unsaved) couples, and it would often happen that the disappointed Christian would storm out of counseling and defiantly go find some other pastor who would conduct the ceremony. All too often, in a few years' time, the wife would be back in McGee's office with tears in her eyes declaring that she should have listened to him and never married this unsaved man. One of McGee's gems: "When you marry an unsaved person, you have the devil as your father-in-law." (Yes, I find this subject interesting because unfortunately I have my own story of disobedience in the area of unequally yoked marriage. Consequences, consequences long after the Lord has forgiven.)

@@KingsDaughter1958 If McGee didn't marry a man & woman who are saved because they're 2 different ethnicities then he is not a man of God. Acts 17:26-27 (KJV) And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: Genesis 41:45 (KJV) And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. Numbers 12:1-15 (KJV) And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again.

Ruth was a white Israelite. She was not a Moabites by blood but by area. She was a white woman, and she married Boaz who was an Israelite, from the tribe of Judah. *Edit* Finished watching and you've done a great job as always, thanks. This whole concept has me really fired up lately. I cry out to the Lord to heal the hearts of the people and remove the blinders from their eyes. *End Edit* Haven't watched yet, but based on the title I'll say this. Biblically all humans are one race, Adam's race. Therefore interracial would imply human and nonhuman partners which is definitely not OK. We should be standing on the authority of God's Word and stop perpetuating the lie that skin shade somehow makes us different. Take that one step futher and look at the Human Genome Project. In 2000 they concluded beyond the shadow of a doubt that all humans are one race, and skin shade is a minor genetic component. You'd think the social justice people and leftist media would be all over that but instead it was quietly swept under the rug because they depend on the division, they thrive on it, and the church should be fighting that division. They want us to believe that different "races" are steps in evolution and not to believe that God made one man, Adam, and from Adam Eve, the mother of all living. The social construct of race is a poison slowly killing our society, and it's very sad to see it perpetuated by the church.

If there is no such thing as "race", then why are there so many measurable differences between the "races," physically, socially, etc.? It's bad and wrong to elevate one over another or to assign value to these various metrics, but to deny the data seems naive.

Andy Patt The issue with the left media is that race is perpetuated as a means to have problems to harp on in the future, so that they can continue pretending that they are the party of inclusivity and diversity. There is also an issue with media on the right ignoring the issue by simply saying that race is a social construct. People involved with social justice are unfortunately manipulated by the media on the left, because they place their faith (trust) in them. And the problem with those who side with the media on the right is that they are also being manipulated by them. While many will claim to be Christians, they approach any issues dealing with racism and oppression with a lack of empathy and compassion, unless they've been told by conservative media what they should fight for (which is exactly what happens on the left too). The real problem is a lack of the love of the truth, on all sides, and faith in people, instead of faith in Jesus. The racial issues we have in this country are because people on both sides of government, as well as those behind the scenes, make a concerted effort to never have problems solved, or to go to the extreme so that problems are made worse. People in the general public will take sides, failing to know and understand the truth for themselves. This is the result of the evil and demonic activity going on in the spiritual world to divide and distract humanity, of course. Of course race is a social construct, but people are still facing racism and and people are continuing to commit racist acts, so the solution can't just be "race is a social construct, so stop talking about race". That ideology solves nothing either. All I know is that God is angry at the injustice and evil that is committed whether it is done for racist or non-racist reasons, so liberals and conservatives are both the problem, which is why we all need Jesus and should all be open to accepting Him into our lives, if we haven't already. If we have, we *MUST* understand and live by the fact that Jesus told us that we are to love Him, and love others as He has loved us.

@@joshuaerickson8888 You are making a false generalization. Skin shade is essentially on/off switches in melanin production in the skin. Minor is a loose term but you have to be careful when comparing 2 things that are dramatically different ends of the "minor" spectrum.

Races do exist, and trying hard to pretend they do not is harmful. One simple example where race matters is medicine. Different races have biological differences, and if doctors were to pretend otherwise it would get people killed. Having said that, being born with a race is not a sin. And if it were, only the jewish race would be good. There's no reason to hate someone for having a race. You shouldn't even be hating people at all, even for sinning. I disagree. It was ineffective and wobbly. Mike felt compelled to stand by and to rationalize everything God did, said or condoned in the old testament. Including the calls for and acts of discrimination, ethnocentrism and mistreatments of others. Wow! First of all, the whole idea of Jews being god’s elect people is not just ethnocentric it is a racist one, by definition. He tap-danced around the idea of racism and then outright denied it by declaring “they were all of the same race” or “Moses took a black wife!” Why is it so hard for apologists to admit the obvious “the god described in the old testament was narrow-minded, sectarian and bigoted!” Every single example given by Mike, unintendedly, illustrates that fact. “We good, you bad!”. The appalling “unevenly yoked” doctrine and a few others... Another example missing from Mike's rebuttal could be Phineas, the so-called zealot, who killed a mix couple (including the Jew in the couple) and got high praises for it (Numbers 25: 7-13). Mike admits it, in a way by stating “You are free to marry anyone you wish, as long as they are Jews!” Yuk!!! In that statement, anyone can replace the word Jews by Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Southerners, Catholics… you name it. That is ethnocentrism and sectarianism at its best. Are apologists just like acrobats and contortionists? Bending over backwards, jumping high and low and always making sure to fall on their feet (no matter what) to please their audiences? I guess, it is a good thing that the new testament came to correct (and maybe dismiss) the Jew-supremacist god of the old testament. What took the "new" god so long?

In Scripture, the idea of "race" was largely familial, not skin-based. The Hebrew "race" was those descended from Eber. The Jews were those descended from Judah (who later incorporated some of the other tribes). Israelis are descended from Israel, Canaani from Canaan, etc. Skin color is a modern, Darwinian view of race that clouds our understanding of Scripture and humanity in general. It's one of the big lies of the enemy, so far as I can see. The idea of being grafted into the tree of Abraham, so to speak, is not to say our skin-race changes with conversion, but our identity in who our family-race is. This is why Christians use words like brother and sister, brethren, and the brotherhood. In Christ, we have become part of a new and better tribe, one bannered not by blood, but by faith in Christ. This is the picture of Abraham's exodus from Bablyon and Israel's exodus from Egypt. We are called out from our people according to the flesh and become our own people, namely the tribe of Christians.

21:29, "If you have already entered a marriage, you make it work." I'm single so this doesn't really apply to me, but I do have a question that maybe will help someone else. As a minister myself, I know what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 7, but as a single man, could you elaborate on some practical things that a person in a situation like that could do?
@ServantStatusMinistries

They should remain in that marriage and show them the light of Christ so that the unbelieving spouse may be saved. If you truly love your spouse you would not want them to go to hell and who knows they could've came to the faith first before you so it is a blessing to be saved and kind of would be selfish to just walk away from the marriage without trying to your spouse what it looks like to be saved. What you asked was very common moreso in the first century over today because the fathers were giving their daughters to marriage and marriages were arranged. So many who were already married had one that heard and believed while the other hadn’t heard the gospel and believed, or one was still performing the law of Moses while the other was saved, or one spouse was saved and the other heard and rejected it. So when we have come to the faith in marriage BEFORE our spouse when initially both of us were not of the faith before marriage the way you show love is to have faith that Christ in you will use you to be a visual example to your spouse who has not yet believed. They will be with you day and night everyday. That is a powerful impact on their lives. As it is written in 1 Corinth 7 if the unbelieving spouse WANTS to remain in marriage with the believer then stay. This is a good thing because the unbeliever is showing curiosity as in the movies Case for Christ. They are more inclined to consider just as you were. But if they want to go let them go. Why? A couple of reasons. Love is not forced. If the unbelieving spouse is causing mayhem, is hateful towards you, and can not stand your new life in Christ and remains jealous as they want to be first and not God then it is already in their heart that they don't want God. You see this even moreso in dating relationships when one begins walking with Jesus and the other doesn't want to change then distance is created between them and that person is pushed away because they hate God so they won't stand being around you. If they don't want God they don't want the believing spouse either and more than likely there will be constant strife in that marriage when marriage was meant to be godly and of peace. They more than likely will be a horrible influence to you and can stumble your walk while trying to draw you away from God and so if they want to leave let them leave. Anything that tries to draw you away from God especially when you want God He will take what is His and protect you. Happened to me with my ex boyfriend. I moved across country away from the man that didn't want Jesus but who I found out later was going to propose to me. God took me far away from him. In a committed marriage before God BOTH parties are supposed to already have marriage to God first. But since both married as unbelievers and one is now Jesus bride while the other is not and they are showing that they don't want to be, then they also have shown who they want to be as their head, "husband", and provider which is not Jesus but Satan. God already says for those who do not want Him that He gives them over to their desires. That's love. People go "whoring" after other gods so God gives them over to what they want. In a way the new believer in the marriage does the same thing as God does to the unbeliever who does not want to stay married to them (even after trying and being faithful). The new believer lets them go and be to their own desires which is not of God. And since sin starts in the heart and is thought up before acted upon when that unbeliever wants to leave the marriage because their spouse came to Christ they are also showing their fruits in that they want to remain in sin and remain full of lusts and pride but they can't comfortably do so around and with their "new" spouse, so they leave and go be with someone else who enjoys wickedness so you can let them go. They can not and will not appreciate or love in marriage as God intended and they will be judged accordingly before God if they continue in sin and die in their sins without repentance. But that's for if two people didn't believe and married and one came to Christ first not for casual dating or courting because we are told to not fellowship with an unbeliever when we are single and in Christ.

Thank you for confirming what I believe. God does not promote racism. God made us different races because He is all for diversity. God only sees saved and unsaved. Saved people of all races can marry one another. Those that use race as a divide really have a root of hatred in their hearts that only God can take away if they allow Him to. God promotes Christian love, whetherthey are the same race or different race. The body of Christ is diverse. Again, thanks for the video.

Speaking of the Tower of Babbel, Pentecost is an inversion of that story. Jews and Proselytes from all over the then-known world traveled to Jerusalem and heard the Apostles miraculously preach to them in their own languages.

The Old Testament prohibition against intermarriage was the same as the current prohibition against marriage to an unbeliever. The reason appears to be that every time Israelites married their neighbors they ended up worshipping their spouses idols. Even Solomon.

You're wrong on everything except on Solomon taking in idols. God was angry with him for that, but he was angry at Israel for building Golden Galf, which had nothing to do with the other nations at all. Nowhere in Revelation 21:8 does it say that you can't marry someone from a different ethnicity. You can do so as long as both are true believers in Christ(2 Corinthians 6:14). You should also read the book of Esther and Ruth as well.

It's interesting that so many people do not realize that, from ancient times, people have been able to walk from Israel to Africa and from Israel to Europe. All three continents are joined at the Asian region we call the Middle East. Much of what we consider geographically separate is a human construct.

Hey everybody! This is a little off topic but I don't have anybody else to ask so here it goes: Do any of you have any recommendations for good books defending the Trinity??? I have a nontrinitarian friend and I'm looking for resources to offer her. I'm looking specifically for books written by New Testament scholars who go deep into the Greek text and the historical context. I already am reading The Forgotten Trinity, but that's targeted specifically for believers and therefore doesn't throughly answer most if not every objection and is not the best book for her. I'm looking for one I can read first and then if I like it, I give to my non orthodox friend. I'm looking for one that could be well-suited for nontrinitarians/antitrinitarians. I would prefer one that is honest yet polite and cool-headed, instead of being harsh towards them. Thanks!

Well spoken! I think it’s also important Christians don’t mistakenly impose their own preferences as biblically inspired. I know many people who are married or unmarried in interracial relationships, and I’m happy for them, but I’m also not ashamed to admit that for me personally, it’s not something I would prefer for myself. That is, I’m only attracted to my own ethnic group, and that’s okay if you are, just don’t force it on other people, and realize that there’s nothing wrong with interracial relationships/marriages.

According to the Bible, it could be argued interracial marriage isn’t real. Humans are divided by tribe, tongue, nation etc. biblically speaking, the Bible teaches that we are all the same “race” however the concept of race or how it’s used today is foreign to scripture.

Hi Mike, what if you have deliberately entered into a marriage with a non believer (knowing you were unequally yoked) but am a much more mature believer now (largely due to the Lord leading me to your ministry). I know I should stay in the marriage. Is there forgiveness for me though - I am repentful but wonder how repentful I can be when I’m happy with the kids and husband I have out of it aside from the consequences I deal with being married to a non-believer and all that comes along with that. Thanks

Using Acts 17:26 to advocate for racism is foolish, because the very first line says God made the nations "from one man." Race is a social construct. Also, the Jewish nation was not primarily based on race. Exodus 12:38 says that "A mixed multitude also went up with them." When the Israelites left Egypt, people (probably other slaves and maybe Egyptians who decided to follow God) joined them.

Read Isaiah chapter 11, it discusses the second coming of the Messiah and what life will be like. Part of that includes several verses describing carnivores and herbivores living in harmony and children playing with venomous snakes like they would a puppy. "They will not kill or slay in all my holy mountain," says the Lord. Additionally in Genesis 1:30 states that animals as well as man were given the plants to eat. From this we can conclude that death and suffering was foreign to the entire creation not just mankind, and came into the world as the result of Adam's sin, where all of creation was cursed, including a breakdown of the natural order into what we see today. Nature wasn't always meant to be 'red in tooth and claw' as the saying goes. Of note, the Hebrew word describing living things, the equivalent of 'soul' in English, is 'nephesh' and is used for both human beings as well as animals in scripture, while plants are not described as having a nephesh/soul. Add onto these the various verses in the poetic books about animals dependent upon God for their sustenance, the ending verse of Jonah and Matthew 6:25-26 and I think it's quite obvious that animals will get to experience peaceful eternity in heaven, including our pets. The only place in the bible were I can see people deriving a doctrine of animals not going to heaven is from Ecclesiastes 3:21, "Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down into the earth?" But in the context of the surrounding verses, Solomon likens mankind to the beasts, as both are dependent upon God for their breath and both return to dust upon death, so the question seems to be rhetorical on his part, exclaiming that mankind isn't so lofty as we suppose ourselves to be, extolling humility on our part before the Lord as without Him all is vanity.

Beckey Girard I just wanted to give you three things to ponder on about our pets being in heaven. In Genesis 9:5b it talks about animals having to give an account for their lives. Second, Jesus told us that our Father in heaven loves us even more than we love our children here on earth. If we desire to give our children good gifts, how much more will he give us good gifts. Lastly, in the book of Revelation it mentions that Jesus will be riding on a white horse when he returns a second time to earth.
