During an interview going much further than just talking about new records and tours, Kublai Khan frontman Matt gave us on November 21. in Nuremberg many insights on being in a band and shared his views on society and the Hardcore Community. In the year of their 10th anniversary as a band, Matt also recalled how Kublai Khan started out and how they came to their unusual name. Recalling their beginnings, he also reflected on the current state of the band and if he’d rather have started out in 1999 or in 2019. Just two months after the release of their latest record “Absolute” Matt gave us an outlook on their plans for 2020 and proceeded to destroy the stage later that night in Nuremberg opening for Lionheart. He is easily my favorite vocalist, and it isn't because he has some special vocal range or talent....it's because his emotion bleeds through so beautifully. The anger, disgust, indignation, rage, disappointment, etc etc....these are not emotions you typically find in any other music. His integrity is profound.

Never Forgot, how Matt was standing right behing me at the Eternal Nightmare tour in Hamburg (showers are right behind the crowd lol), wish i had the balls to talk to him cause since then theyre my fav band :/

To hear his vocals and then hear him speak ( 1:04 ) is kinda hilarious imo. Certainly not what I'd expect. To hear him talk you'd think he was into country or gospel 🤣. Not knocking him, I'm sure I've got the same accent too, at times. That's just part of growing up in the south.
