Jens was so young when he did vocals for Contradictions Collapse and None. I was amazed how young he looked in the making of video I saw recently on youtube. Yet his voice sounds like he's 30 plus. Absolutely brutal manly vocals for such a young age, Frederick too.

The best thing about Meshuggah is that they never get stuck in a creative hole. Listening to Jens talk retrospectively is really cool.

I understand what he's saying about Contradictions. Their music is a little simpler now, but it's still cool - Contradictions was from the 90's and it has it's own thing. I had to listen to it a while to hear what they did. I think they shouldn't bash themselves b/c they wouldn't be where they are now without that album. They've really found something unique, and I look forward to the new album!

It really is the basis for everything they would do. Contradictions Collapse is actually a really impressive album. They just became so much better over time, and not long after when you even listen to the None EP just a couple of years later and it all just sounds so next level. But the oldschool thrash sound that you can hear a lot on Contradictions Collapse is really appealing to me just because its progressive-sounding thrash metal and its awesome. But its still such a unique album in so many ways too. I listen to it and i just feel like Meshuggah came out swingjng and they haven't let us down since.

you probably had to like your own comment because you're so fucking wrong, man. CC is an amazing fucking album, impressive as hell for a band's first release. they laugh now because they've realized how little they knew about music when they recorded it back in 91, but that doesn't make it a bad album. have you even listened to it? doesn't look like it.

Jens is extremely talented but his present approach is bringing the band down bad,big time. He has a great deal of trouble with phrasing, variation thereof, tone, and particularly with the use of breathing space in the music, which he seems to have almost no concept of. Listen to Mile Davis phrasing for instance man. You don't having to be screaming (ALWAYS untintelligibly to my US ears) every moment the song is playing. Remember Ernest Hemingway's "Less is More") I really think you need to make some adjustments man. Meshuggah would be bigger then already are here in the USA I think, if you did You're to talented to lack this much refinment. A friend and Hugh fan of the band

His screaming is what has helped make Meshuggah what it is today. And he definitely does not scream every moment of their songs, you obviously haven't listened to much from Meshuggah. Meshuggah would not be Meshuggah without Jens and his screaming style.
