Interview: Suspect208 (Slash, Weiland, Trujillo Sons) on Carving Their Own Path & Fathers' Legacies

Suspect208 are a very new and very young band, but the members' last names are very familiar. And when they released their debut single, “Long Awaited”, last month, it absolutely blew up.
London Hudson (drums), Tye Trujillo (bass), and Noah Weiland (vocals) are the sons of Guns N’ Roses' Slash, Metallica's Robert Trujillo, and late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, respectively. Suspect208's lineup is rounded out by guitarist Niko Tsangaris. Their ages range from 16 to 20, and they only officially formed a few months ago.

Great interview.... These guys have good family and friends to keep them grounded. Nice to see them amongst friends, lots of great things coming their way. Great songs, they're going far.

These kids just need to remain grounded and not live too fast. They’ve got plenty of time. Hopefully they can stay away from drugs and alcohol and do things right.

I think it’s funny that Noah thinks he won’t live in his dad’s shadow. His dad and the others dads are the reason they’ve gotten any attention.

Interesting. Can't wait to hear the music. I'm a huge fan of Scott Weiland so naturally I'm eager to hear Noah sing. However, I'm excited to hear the band in totality.

I have mixed thoughts about Noah. On one hand, he's talented. Like everyone pointed out, it's incredible how much his voice sounds like Scott, both singing and speaking. And he seems to have a broad interest in various types of music, which is cool (even if not everyone is interested in all of it). But on the other hand, whenever I hear him talk or write (like on his Instagram account) he acts super immature and vane... Yes, he is young, but it's not like he is 14, he is going to be 21 this year! He seems to have bought the whole "drugs, fame, money and women" pack and it's kind of disappointing, because his father also started young but even then he always had something interesting to say. I get it, he is not his dad, but it's a bit disheartening to hear someone who sounds like a shallow version of Scott. The other guys in Suspect 208 seem much more serious about their career, especially Tye and Niko. And Cody Houston looks like a great fit for the band: he's talented but also seems to have a more professional and humble outlook, which I think it's exactly what they need. In the end, I hope Noah's missed experience with Suspect 208 sets him on his way to a healthy change and a successful career.

@Ayesha forever You're right about the comparisons, although comparisons are inevitable when his voice naturally sounds so much like his father's. But it's a fair point. On the other hand, Suspect 208 has "non-boomers" musicians, even younger than Noah, who seem more mature about their careers. Take Tye Trujillo, for example. He is not "a boomer", he is an actual teenager who gained recognition much before Suspect 208 just relying on his work and talent, not on scandals. I see Noah practically pushing his followers on his Instagram stories to like and comment his posts and songs, to "make him big", bad mouthing some of the people he recently worked with, when he could just rely on his talent and work to legitimally gain the recognition he believes he deserves as an artist. He has a lot of talent, that's for sure, and many people genuinely rooting for him.

Ok I love the music. Noah Weiland sounds fantastic. A pleasant surprise. VR is one of the greatest bands ever. Killin it boys. Not a fan of the name tho not gonna lie..

I think that's exactly what they don't want especially since the three sons their dads are/were in some of the biggest bands ever. I dont think they want to be looked at like that especially since slash and Scott did velvet revolver might seem too weird for those two especially

It’s really sad to see how Noah is being kicked out just like it happened with Scott with STP and VR. Hope Noah receives help soon , he is too young and talented, he deserves a better path

Noah & London both need help & I hate the fact they broke up so publicly bc now there’s burnt bridges that they may never come back from.. The band exposing Noah’s drug use & Noah exposing London’s drug use too lord have mercy may they both get the help they need .. they maybe following in daddy’s footsteps a little to much..
