Today we meet Tom (THERE IS NO TOUR- JUST THE INTERVIEW)-He has lived on wheels for over 18 years-- yes, you read that right, 18 years!! None of those 143 vehicles cost him more than $800, and generally, the less it cost, the longer it ran! Hopefully, you'll find some inspiration, good ideas, or at least some entertainment from Tom's story!

TOM DIED. FYI - Tom passed away last year. He suddenly got sick and died in the hospital. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed for any of us. The only thing we have is today. I'm so glad he lived the life he wanted to live while he could. #RIPTom

I am 64, still working part time, moving out onto the road full time in 2020, and am not impressed at all with any of the shiny baubles that society tells me I must have in order to be safe and happy. Just the opposite. I don’t envy anyone for what they own, but Tom is right at the top of the stack so far as people I admire and respect because of who they are. I would enjoy any opportunity to visit with and learn from him. He simply exudes confidence and quietness and peace. His is one of the most refreshing and encouraging outlooks the I have come across in decades. Thank you for introducing Tom to us and thank you Tom for doing what you do and for doing it very well. Just keep going. Hope to see you down the road.

That's a NOMAD. You see, as a teenager I also lived on the road. And when I finally settled down it was knowing I could always get up n go! Until I had a child. And that freedom (my father called it "a total lack of responsibility!" With disdain I have to be honest) THAT freedom was the ONLY thing I gave up when I had a child. As my youngest is approaching 18 these many years later I feel that itch like never before! 😁 Imma coming home!! I know without a doubt I'm going to spend the rest of my life as a nomad! My husband has spent his entire 52 years in the SAME TOWN! I've assured him he can wake up every day and have a fishing pole in one hand and his coffee in another. 🎣 Clocks a tickin'! I think any child who by chance spent time on the road or even had fun camping trips can imagine and aspire to a nomadic life. Just an opinion. Love the new add Bob and friends😉

I have the "itch", too. My family lived in a skoolie in the late 1970s. My late husband and I lived in a minivan in the early 2000s. My current partner and I are planning to convert a stepvan into a wheelchair- accessible RV to better allow us to enjoy our later years on our own terms.

That is absolutely right, Caney! You can only wear so many clothes and shoes. When I retire in February, I'm donating my nicer clothing and shoes to my church's thrift store; they rarely charge over $3 per item. All the rest of "the stuff" is going to be donated to the rescue mission. Ya can't take it with ya! Besides, none of "that stuff" will fit who I am when I start my life of FREEDOM 😃!

@@colleenkaralee2280 No one except you would know that. Please tell me you didn't think I was being negative. My point was that we don't need as many clothes as we think we do😃!

I really enjoyed this interview w/this young man. He reminds us of not just to make a living, but to really live! It's not about working ourselves to death, exhausted, overwt, can't sleep, etc. We all need to rethink what we are really doing & experience this life God gave us! Take care Bob & Tom !!

Freedom is a state of mind, not a way of life. You don't have to be a nomad to be free. You can own stuff and be free. The trick is in attachment/no attachment.

"I mean theoretically there is no such thing as a bad day because you wake up everyday, and if you wake up everyday that's just the beginning." That hit me like a ton of bricks. I literally said 'wow' out loud when I heard him say that. That was highly insightful. Wise words to live by, that's for sure!

Gosh what an inspirational young man... He underplays his battle with cancer... He's very philosophical about such challenges but I'm sure these experiences would have been very frightening, painful and debilitating at times... A humble courageous and very likeable young man. May God keep him safe and well... I wish this free spirit, joy and love and a lifetime of heartwarming travel stories. Alofa atu 💖
