Here is a throwback from the Weathertech International Challenge with Brian Redman. Known as one of the largest gatherings of vintage race cars in North America, it is an event that draws thousands of fans to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin every year.
2022 was no different. This year company owner Kyle Tilley was in attendance and competing in several different vintage race cars. He even got the opportunity to make a bit of history as he was given the chance to drive the legendary Shadow MK1. Enjoy the trackside chat that he had after the event with car owner Jim Bartel and vehicle designer Trevor Harris.

I was a track side marshal at Mosport in 1970 when you debuted the car. I was fascinated. It reminded me of a go kart with a massive V8 fitted. Crazy.

When I was a schoolboy I hung out at Trevor's shop in the U District, where he fettled Jerry Grant's Lotus 19-Chevy . A very inspirational figure to me; gratifying to see this video after all these years.

Great interview! Trevor helped to design the winning configurations of the Electramotive Nissan. It took on Porsche and Jaguar in GTP and beat motorsports endurance establishment at their own game.

I consider Trevor Harris one of the greatest designers ever. He had a furtive mind like that of Jim Hall. I would have loved to have seen the Shadow Mk I with everything Trevor had originally designed for it. Too bad the FIA banned "movable aerodynamic devices". This was in response to the wing failures in F1. The Can Am cars did not suffer wing failures like those in F1. What penalized the Shadow Mk I killed off the Chaparral 2J. Great interview.

I loved watching on tv the CanAm races when I was a kid. I was so sad when the series died. The Shadows and Jim Halls Chapparals were my favorite cars

I'm reading a book now about the build of this car. It really is remarkable that this came together and actually raced. This was my favorite team back in the day.

This was my favorite aroura afx tyco slot car. Probably got it in 1975. Didn't know anything about the real car. Loved the body kind and the big wing

Jim and Trevor, what an interesting car. I never had the opportunity to see this car race, however I hope to see this car race in vintage competition. An amazing design IMO !
