Күн бұрынStage 8 is short but gruelling,featuring six categorised climbs crammed into the space of just 154km. On paper, this looks like a golden opportunity for the breakaway, but the GC men will need to be on their toes and alive to the danger present around almost every corner. The final climb, Colláu Fancuaya (10.1km at 7.7%), is where the battle for the stage, and possibly the red jersey, will ultimately be fought.

Jay Vine is THE revelation of this year's Vuelta. Showed a few glimpses last year, but this is unbelievable. What a shame he lost so much time in the early stages.

He would have never had this success if he didn't lose time. I'm not taking anything away from him because he's doing spectacular BUT he could not keep this up for THREE WEEKS and also these are breakaways. It's not the same as if you're in the GC group and battling for GC position. I don't think he would do this well if he was in the GC group but again, he's doing GREAT! I'm very happy for him!! He may keep the KOM to the end but there's going to be some big GC battles happening over the next 2 weeks and he won't be able to keep it. He has it for now tho and that's something to be proud of!!🤘

The commentary intonation is killing me. Almost every sentence… has a lengthy pause… then another… and then it ends… very quietly. I can barely discern the last word in every second sentence.

Yes the voice is weird and pace is irritating. Reminds me of Captain Kirk trying so hard to be speak differently so he will be noticed. No. The focus is on the action and on the riders! Please. Not on the commentator and his search for relevance

I would not have called the GC battle today as "all hell breaking loose" but ok. The GC guys didn't take each other, they just had their teammates do a hard tempo at the front. Congratulations to Jay Vine, an amazing victory!

Barely a word on Pedersen absolutely filleting himself taking pulls with the climbers as a sprinter and gaining the Green in so doing!?!?!

These are "HIGHlights" meaning it focuses on the HIGH points of the race such as the winners, what's happening with GC and the jerseys. Other than that you won't see something like you're asking for very often in a highlight reel.

If Vine can work on his TT over time, this Zwift rider will become a serious GC contender. He climbs like it is just a Sunday practice ride. Very impressed.. And great tactical move by Pedersen to get into the break and climb a bit for that Green.

@@discbrakefan Pro Cycling Stats gives him a zero on TT - just not enough info on his short career. So yeah, the ITT will be interesting.

@@HBosman He was good as a domestic rider in TTs. Also has placed well in a pro TT I just can’t remember off the top of my head where it was. PCS never tells the whole story.

@@HBosman I do agree that's he's good and right now he's doing GREAT but being in the break is different than battling for GC for 3 weeks. I don't think that's in him. At least not yet.

Congrats to Jay Vine.. I feel like if Quick Step Alpha Vinyl wanted to go all out GC for Evenepoel they should have brang more climbing super domestiques.

Quick Step and Remco said he is focussing on stage wins and not going for GC but I do believe that was a tactic. I think they were planning on letting him go for GC if he had the opportunity and felt good enough but if he wasn't able to go for GC then the team and he himself could say, "GC was never the plan" but I do believe this was the team seeing if he was up for the test. They have enough guys to MAYBE help him later in but not a full team string enough to carry him. Personally I don't think he's GC material. Not YET anyway.

I really value these highlights, but some more enthusiasm in the commentary voice and a bit more sync between the commentary and the images shown would be amazing!

It’s more waxing lyrical than explaining what is happening and the important points of the race. You are losing all of The Who, where, when and why’s and just getting a lot of word soup.

@@ivanstrle346 If Remco can hold this to the end I will be amazed. This is unbelievable what we're seeing here from him. But can he maintain in 3rd week. It's a HUGE unanswered question. It's LOOKING very impressive but that 3rd week is unknown how he'll respond. Going to be great to watch. It's LOOKING good for him right now at least but not sure how he'll hold up. Wishing him luck.

If I understood your comment correctly, the answer is 8 riders in a 3 week race. Regular ONE DAY races it is only 7 riders.

The weird irritating voice of the commentator takes away from the proper focus of the video: the racers. And tries to put that focus where it does not belong: on the commentator and his weird voice and pacing. Focus on the race please! Not on yourself. Ugh

The voice today of the commentator is singsong and irritating and weird, esp at the beginning of the video. And then again the weirdness comes back in the last phrase uttered by this commentator “the run to the rest day” The commentator is trying so hard to be different somehow. The inflection and tone is forced and strained-to be different. Why not just be yourself? Why not talk in your own normal way? Do you think your own, normal way is not good enough so you have to use some sort of weird device to be different somehow? It’s irritating pace of voice and sound of voice. Just be yourself

Wonderful racing, but the commentator, although articulate, seems rather bored with the event. GNC needs to find someone with a bit more energy.

7 riders out [?] so far - a. + test might well change the GC fight...I believe at the TdF, they allowed riders to race if the PCR number was low, suggesting low viral load and low chance of contagion. I believe Darryl Impey was refused a start whereas Jungels was given the green-light. New norm, eh?
