The guitar solo in this song is a damn masterpiece.

"Don't Waste Your time searching for those wasted years" has become some kind of mantra for me fighting anxiety and depression… The song was written by Adrian Smith during the near everlasting "powerslave" tour which lasted for over a year, so he longed to get home to meet his friends and Family. Usually Maiden-songs has duelling guitars, but i Guess Dave just left it all to his friend since he wrote the song.

One in TX when our son was about 3, one in MI opened by Alice Cooper when our son was about 11, one in IL opened by Ghost when our son was 18 this latest when our son was 20 last summer (2019) in Indiana opened by Ravenage (Steve Harris' son). If you have never been to an Iron Maiden show you really should go to at least one. They are amazing! I've never heard them play anywhere other than an open air amphitheater, their show is simply too large for any closed location. They had a plane flying over the stage this last time. The Trooper is always outstanding. Their shows are so high energy I have no idea how they do it!

I saw them live on their Wasted Years tour. Still probably the best stage show i have ever seen. Eddie came on stage at 1 point, about 9 ft tall, in his space gear and had an awesome laser fight with Bruce. Bruce manned a ginormous laser turret and on it went..... Couldn't hear right for about 3 days after. Ahhhh memories. The show was in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada.

Maiden is my most favorite band. I'm aging myself by saying this but I have seen Maiden 10 times from 1982 to just this past August. Their shows are fantastic, each show better than the last. The Legacy of the Beast tour they recently have just done was by far the best stage show I have ever seen. And the band performed like they were still in their 20's, especially Bruce. He constantly ran around that stage during the entire show at age 61 and never seem to lose his breath. Great band, Great shows and great guys. The are a definite must see. Peace.

Bruce Dickinson sang brilliantly and still has incredible vocal range. Also, in between songs he was very entertaining as he spoke with the audience and was quite funny. Had the stadium laughing on numerous occasions. If you get the chance, I recommend seeing them live at least once. They put on a great stage show. This was a great review. I've seen them 4 times, & had tix to 2 other shows that got canceled. But at the Somewhere in Time tour I was about 10-15 ft away from Steve Harris, he looked me right in the eyes & sang the song with me, then pointed at me & gave me a 👍. As a young bass player, that was MAGICAL! Something I'll never forget.

Maiden concerts are a thing to behold my friend! From elaborate costumes for every other song played! To a 20' animatronic Eddie mascot! I went to a show...maybe 2-3 years ago now? They had a giant Eddie head come out over the drum set. Complete with arms that kinda came from nowhere (likely a stage rigging). I have personally been a fan since I can remember! My dad was too and we would sit and watch MTV (yes kids! MTV played REAL MUSIC and MUSIC VIDEOS BACK IN THE DAY! BEFORE A KZfaq! OR FACEBOOK EVEN! 🤣) And he would point out certain bands that he liked and asked "Who's that? Who's this band?" I think it was in an attempt to HELP me with learning to read... but I also like to think that he did it to show me decent music and spend some quality time. I was maybe 3-4 years old then. My 1st seeing Iron Maiden. Was also, cool enough! DADS 1st Maiden show too! What made it all come together. They weren't touring a particular album or anything. They were basically doing an anniversary type gig. Playin all their OLD TUNES I grew up on. The ones pops n I would sit on the couch or in his chair and watch and listen. It was kind of a sappy happy surreal moment! 😅 But in all honesty. It was awesome!

Towards the end of your video you mentioned wanting to hear from people who have been to 'Maiden concerts. I went to my first one this year, September 6, in Portland Oregon, and wasn't disappointed. While I always liked heavy metal, I didn't used to be a 'Maiden fan back in their 1980s heyday because of the Eddie images and I honestly didn't really get what they were about. I'm now nearing 50, and I totally get it, almost becoming obsessive about them in the last five years, and concerts have everything to do with it. I started getting back into shape and using Pandora at the gym. "Wasted Years" had always been the exception of the Maiden songs and I liked it since it was originally released in the mid 80s. So I added it to my Pandora list and soon was really starting to get into the other tracks that came as a result. Then I realized how awesome they were. What really brought it to the top was concert footage. I'm a doctor and sometimes work late at night doing reports, so I open up a KZfaq page and started streaming their videos. That's when I came across their concert movie, Flight 666. This really blew my mind as made me truly understand how a band that really never got any air play could be at the top of the heap when it comes to fandom. They routinely play to immense crowds, easily 50-100,000 people in many of these scenes, and the enjoyment on the fans' faces brings everything into focus. In particular, the segment for "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" where everyone is singing along and loving it is my favorite part. I've been watching your channel for a few weeks now (as well as Vin and Sori and a few others), because I love our reactions. Once you've gone through the regular song videos, consider taking a few at a time through Flight 666, and then maybe also their concert in Wacken, Germany in 2014 (AM Ring). The opening scene of that concert in particular, with over 80,000 screaming Germans will blow your mind as UFO's "Doctor Doctor" (Maiden's normal bumper song that plays right before they launch into their first song) will have you reeling. You can even find a video of their concert in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1980s, where they played for approximately 350,000 people (I think right before Queen). Bruce Dickinson gets hit in the head with some kind of flying object, maybe a bottle, and his forehead is bleeding through the rest of the concert. His mic doesn't get turned off, so you can hear him cussing out some roadie about the situation through about three minutes of the scene. Anyhow, watching these live concerts is what made me vow to see them myself. I went the concert on September 6th and had 2nd row center for it (paid $1,300 for four tickets for me and some of my family). Worth. Every. Penny. These guys are in their early sixties now, and Dickinson has already had a bout with throat cancer. See them live while you can. They've completely the U.S. leg of the Legacy of the Beast tour and will be resuming the rest of the world soon after a hiatus. But Steve Harris has a side band that I think is called British Lion that will start touring the U.S. later this year. They aren't on the slate for the Pacific Northwest first, but I hope the eventually swing through.

Saw them live in Pittsburgh on the recent tour. I've seen many concerts and that was by far one of the greatest. 2nd only to Rush live, and that's because I'm obsessed with Rush. Maiden was absolutely amazing and I hope to see them again.

Phantom of the Opera live , the old version with Paul singing . Been following Maiden since I were a kid in London in the early 80's . Weirdly , my younger brother ended up playing soccer with Maidens team that Steve took on European tours and now is the manager for Maidens youth team ,taking over from Steve Harris when IM went back on tour a few years ago. My nephew plays in the team also 😊👍

Iron Maiden always had spot on excellent production. they taught me history. The bass payer is expert level. I feel like I almost died at a Maiden concert.

In the late 80s early 90s , I seen Iron Maiden 3 times. In the last ten years I seen them 3 more times only I brought along my son. Great father/son bonding experience. If you ever get the chance to see them live, I highly recommend you go. Not only are they a great band but they also put on the best live show ever.

This is one of my favorite songs. It's all about living in the here and now, and enjoying it. It also feels like it is saying face up to what choices you make. The sound and solos flow together so well that I can't help but get it stuck in my head. I also greatly enjoy the fact that the chorus is done by chorus, not just Bruce. It makes the spirit of the song soar.

I saw Maiden once, and it was during a heatwave here in Milwaukee. It had to be 105 in the seat, but down by the stage it had to be much worse. It was in 2014 and they rocked! They still used the pyro, and running around on the stage. I missed them last year, but when they tour again, I'm there. The drummer, Niko, has a rib joint in Miami. He even goes there now and again to entertain the patrons. I hear it's good, so I gotta go once their off tour.

I saw Maiden live at Ozzfest in 2005 when I wasn't actually a fan of them... And they were absolutely brilliant. Even though they were 'veterans' and Bruce's voice wasn't in his 'peak' shape like it was during the 80s. They still were amazing.

Seen them so many times. At first I went for the music, then it was for friends I made there online and at tailgates before the show. There is a family and solidarity when we're all singing the chorus or the "Woah's" all together. *FIND Journeyman LIVE in Dortmund, Germany 2003 soon, please.* The fans just took over the band with their singing and it chokes me up every time.

Saw Iron Maiden in 2016 with my son, one of many times. I flew my son in from Walla Walla Washington to Detroit Michigan for his18th birthday. I drove in from Baltimore. I got some pictures of Ed Force One. They played at The Palace Of Auburn Hills Where the Pistons play.

I just went to an Iron Maiden concert fairly recently, and it was the coolest concert I've been to! Not that I've been to too many, but still their performance was just as theatrical as the music it was awesome.

I saw Iron Maiden life a few years back in NC. This is one of my favorites songs from them and they played it...such a great experience. They are still as energetic as you see them in their early years videos. I would definitely see them again if I get the chance; and I would recommend you do as well if able.

I got to see them in Vancouver in Sept. of 2019, and for a bunch of "old guys" they can sure rock the house. They had a real life restored Spitfire fighter plane for Aces High, Bruce had more costume changes than Madonna and J-Lo put together, and I dunno who lets a 60-yearold run around with one flamethrower nevermind two of them. Awesome, awesome show.

I grew up in the 70's & 80's, graduated in 1983. Iron Maiden was then and will always be my all time favorite band. Their sound live in concert is almost just as good as in the studio, they don't just stand there playing the instruments they actually entertain you, I never left a Maiden concert feeling I didn't get more than my money's worth. I remember seeing them at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mt. View California, it was the Seventh Son of the Seventh Son tour, Guns 'n' Roses was the OPENING band. Guns 'n' Roses maybe played 4 songs before they threw down their instruments and left the stage, hardly anyone was actually listening to them, people were more walking around socializing, then the crowd "boooo'd" them and started chanting "Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden", that's when Guns 'n' Roses abandoned the stage and it was announced that Iron Maiden would be on in 20 minutes. Shoreline has seats near the stage going back, then a lawn area behind that for the "General Admission" ticket holders, during one of their songs Bruce stops the band, everything gets quiet, he raises up the mic and says in it while pointing to the people in the back seats and lawn area "how can you all enjoy our show so far back there? How about EVERYBODY come up to the front of the stage!" The looks on all the staff and security people was one of panic as the entire crowd stood and moved towards the stage, then Bruce's laughed and the show resumed. One of the BEST concerts I ever went too.

Wow. How do I describe a Maiden concert?Transcendent. You are both on a huge high and utterly wiped out after one of their shows. Physically and emotionally. It’s like no other band that you will ever see perform live.

My first maiden concert was in 1987. My latest was in 2019. Kicked ass then, kicked even more ass now. An absolutely amazing bunch of very talented and entertaining musicians.
