I know Ecclesiastes is dark in topic, but it was the first book I read that I actually understood. I could relate to somone who had been burnt out and disallusioned. I really charished that and it inspired me to give the bible another go. Thank you for an amazing pod cast.

I can see how others see Ecclesiastes is dark and a bit of a bummer. But I definitely do not see this beautifully wise and so full of truth. I see it like almost the secret to life and the instruction manual to how to navigate through this evil world. I’m so grateful for the author just be brutally honest and reminding us that it’s Gods plan and He’s unsearchable and that we have no control. That we can do things that could possibly help out our outcomes or it may not. So accept what comes our way. Do grieve 11:54 11:58 and process turmoil or grief comes our way but to get over it and just roll with it. But that we must fear the Lord, be obedient, love and forgive all and they will be held accountable for our choices.

Our technology may have changed significantly, but we, who use it, are essentially the same as they were. Our advice to our children is unchanged in essence.

You guys began talking about the Babylonians using advanced calculus it: immediately made me think about Ecclesiasticus text telling you that there is NOTHING NEW under the sun . Everything this will be done, already has been done. This podcast definitely allowed me to look at these book a little differently.

One thing to consider is that Job’s tragedies and experience was not the direct result of cause and effect as described in proverbs. It was rather the result of higher intervention; the contest between the LORD and Satan. Generally speaking, the wicked do go to an early grave while the righteous live long prosperous lives, as stated by proverbs. The exception, I do believe, in some cases is the results of principal interventions. Just as Satan ruined Job, a righteous man, Satan can also exalt some of the wicked.

Tim Mackie was a big influence on my Scriptural knowledge for years with his pofound knowledge of Hebrew literature, and its been a real letdown to watch him circle closer and closer to teaching that homosexuality is not a sin and that hell does not exist. I grow up in the same era and part of the world he did in the PNW in the 80s and listening to him was like listening to a super spiritual older brother I never had. Now he's like listening to a recording of a dead loved one. I want to weep.

Relating to Tim's refference about the recently found calculus at the ruins at Babylon, It's interesting to note that the magi also were from the East mentioned in Matthew 2:1 at the time of Christ’s birth may have come from the nation's of Media, Persia, Assyria and Babylonia, countries now encompassed by Iran and Iraq. The magi were well learned individuals, as they were referred to as wise men, they knew astrology, astronomy and math by which they figured out the route of the Christ's birth.

My approach to the Bible is that when it feels good it’s right and when it feels bad there is something I do not understand. I never want to think God is wrong even when I feel hurt by him.

This is very interesting. I have been following your Bible Project youversion plan and am repeating it this year with four friends and family members following along together. I have been working on a spreadsheet Bible Timeline. About 10 years ago I researched the Bible for clues to where to place the Book of Job in the timeline. I am close and fairly confident that it would be worth looking into, especially for someone more educated than myself. I hope you might be interested checking out my theory.

I thought she was the one that told him to curse God and die but still remained with him. He lost children, workers, livestock and livelihood. Please explain or show me verses addressing loss of his wife. And thank you!

Proverbs focus on the general rule but Ecclesiastics and Jobs focus on the exception

On the topic of book ages, im into apologetics and i think the median age acrossed all my books is maybe 1985-1990 😂

Wisdom has fallen into our hearts and out onto our wrists, healing the sick and forgiving our sins. But with this day and age of new, we invariably always dismiss the Good News, which is in our midsts. All I guess I can say is to Repent haha

I wish you guys would continue doing the 5 or 10 minute episodes that you used to do. I am sure you would have a lot more impact that way. The much longer length of the ones you have been doing recently are going to put a lot of people off, and the very short ones are too short to say much.

Philippians 1:21-26 KJV Moses, was the first example of this. He perished outside the promise land but was delivered into the kingdom, the ultimate promise land. Gods justice” in the highest expression Moses completed his mission and was granted the kingdom not death. I had a revelation I had to share. Now all the prophets deaths make more sense to me. Furthermore, all prophets starting from Moses points us to Jesus. Our savior his suffering and blood would atone for our sins. Books of Job and Ecclesiastes are designed to test you faith in God.

What was the intention of the satan to entice Eve to eat the forbidden fruit? God has dominion of Eden garden through Adam while the satan has dominion outside Eden garden through his evil spirits. Corrupting Eve therefore could be seen as an attempt by the satan to also gain dominion in Eden garden. The lie is that Adam does not have total knowledge of everything and therefore will likely rebel. The boundaries of Eden garden is also in our mind or state of mind, so to speak. This is where wisdom helps humans. Metaphorically, Eden garden can be viewed as Adam and Eve in their full innocence and obedience to God. Unwilling to follow God’s guidance due to the constant influence of the evil spirit (e.g why should they fast), Adam and Eve are unable to maintain their physical appearance and start to age … leading eventually to death. Metaphorically, they are leaving ‘Eden garden’ - youth. [The science of aging is currently trying to lay its hand on this knowledge with billionaire wanting to live forever.] If the nation of Israel is the descendants of Adam and Eve, who are the rest of the world population? Are they children of fallen angels? The famous ones being the nephilim.

Atheist always say when somebody says "praise God"...which God are you talking about out of the thousands different cultures believe. How about the only true God who continuously for thousands of years talked to his people. The difference is other cultures have a story about their god from a moment in time. The God of Israel, God incarnate as a man through Yeshua, talked to his people for thousands of years. Its not just a one off story like all the other gods.
